SURPRISINGLYFINE collection of religious art… small collection by some standards, but so many quality pieces to enjoy… I like the beauty and diversity of this collection. I dislike that the museum and gallery is ONLYOPEN for 3 hours each afternoon Tuesday-Sunday. There is too much to see in 3 hours on one afternoon. MOREOVER, I think that the M&G needs to have a study guide/workbook available structured to give people a tool to study the collection systematically and self-paced! With such a workbook each trip there could build upon the last trip there, and much more knowledge would be recorded and retained by visitors serious about studying the art housed there! I observed students at the M&G doing work on assignments for classes… seems logical for the M&G to create a collection study aid for the general public that can bring added revenue to help support and sustain the M&G while providing an enjoyable ongoing educational experience? This would encourage patrons to return multiple times which also would generate revenue. Perhaps there could be an annual visitor pass similar to the way Biltmore encourages return guest trips.

What an unknown gem lives on this campus. Yeah, the boys wear ties, and yeah, there is never a skirt above the knee — its a bit formal wandering about the campus… but the Museum & Gallery is totally worth it. 30 galleries of sacred art from old masters hidden away in a place only open 15 hours a week!(Tues-Sat 2 – 5 pm) Rembrandt, Lucas Cranach the Elder & The Younger, Tintorello, Boticelli — the kind of art one does not usually see outside of the very largest museums. All gathered here in a place you’d never expect. Totally made of win. Dress appropriately, get ready for everyone to smile at you and say hello as you pass(its a Greenville thing) and enjoy some amazing works of art. Note: After a while, my brain was overloaded. Get there at 2 and take your time — its a LOT to take in. Plus, its 5 bucks for adults, 3 bucks for students, 4 bucks for seniors and kids are free.
