A group of us ride bikes here almost every weekend. It gets very busy through Falls Park on the weekends so if you are planning a longer ride toward Furman University or Travelers Rest I would recommend parking at the free lot at the corner of Reedy View Dr and River St. The River St Parking Garage is also convenient to this departure point. As you travel north on the trail there is a very slight uphill grade that you will hardly notice. The nice thing about that is that when you return back toward downtown Greenville your tired legs will appreciate the downhill. Make sure you stop at Swamp Rabbit Café for a snack, refill your water bottle, or use the restroom. Furman University also has restrooms right off the trail and a Starbucks in the bookstore. Travelers Rest has many options for dining and don’t forget to check out Sunrift Adventures to stock up on outdoor gear. Alternatively you can park at Greenville Zoo /Cleveland Park but it gets very crowded on the weekends as well. From this point south gets hilly so you may need a bike with gears.

Absolutely loved this trail! Easy ride(when coming from biking in Asheville). My partner and I did this in a day(there and back) & I’m pretty slow. We did it from Greenville to travelers rest and I think next time I would do the opposite. We want to stay in travelers rest next time! It’s adorable. Trail seemed better marked from travelers rest and so it would have been nice to get that going the first round. Got pretty lost around the neighborhoods. Wish they could mark them. Print and take a map! Great stops along the way!

Very nice little trail, albeit almost entirely paved rather than natural.

I spent a few nights in Greenville and got to run 3 parts of this trail at the lower end about the lower 8 miles(The part that goes through Falls Park) all I can say is it was great to be running on a paved trail with other runners. I did 1 night run and it was crowded with folks just walking the trail along the falls, there were a few other runners and bikes. My other 2 runs were in the early morning and all I past was other runners and a few bikes. Even when off the path in downtown there were plenty of other runners running the streets. Great overall town for runners. Yes, there are a few hills but not much for a regular runner. One of the coolest things I thought was once you get out of town either way there are parts of the trail that have rubber track surface on one side just for runners. It is just wide enough so runners can pass each other or just step off onto the pavement. I wish I had more time to run further north/west on the trail. Next time…

The 17.5-mile trail offers walkers and bikers an opportunity to see some nice scenery in the Greenville area on a pleasant, paved path. Greenville is undergoing some really nice changes, gentrification of the downtown area, and this is part of it. We did see a baby copperhead on the trail recently by Furman U, so walkers beware. The trail is 10 feet wide, so there’s no problem walking around something like that. Update Sept. 2013: I guess the real trick is not getting murdered along the trail now. Bring some pepper spray and your favorite Glock.

Though still in development, it’s great news to hear that the city of Greenville is investing in a 13-mile trail that runs through Travelers Rest, borders Furman Univ. and travels along the Reedy River. Ideal for bikers, walkers and joggers. So get off your lazy ars and shake your booty!
