To my knowledge this is the only place in the area that has Toro on the regular. We’ve tried going to Bamboo but it just doesn’t compare to Kira. My wife & I will order Sumai @ every sushi spot, Kira still holds the crown for that 1. Great atmosphere, parking lot is right next to the restaurant. Always a treat :), love this place.

Stopped here after a work meeting for lunch. Attentive service but the food was nothing to write home about. Average to slightly below average fish. Prices were OK. The good service saves it from a 2-star rating. Would try something else in the area next time.

STAYAWAYFROMTHE«LUNCHSPECIALS» they are SCRAPS! I am a Greenwich local and I have been a huge fan of Kira for years. So much so that I arranged for a weekly seamless delivery for my office, everyone individually logs in to Seamless and places their order for a group delivery. A couple of months ago I called to place a large order that I was paying for and the lady on the phone gave me a price of more then double the lunch prices online. I inquired why the price difference and she told me they serve«different» quality sushi for the lunch specials«not good quality» and they are going to give us the«good» quality sushi for my large order. I was appalled at the idea that they are serving scraps for lunch. Since then I have only ordered chicken terriyaki for the weekly order. Today I really wanted sushi so I ordered the 3 roll combo. I ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls and a shrimp avocado roll… what I received was an avocado roll with a speck of shrimp and fatty white spicy tuna rolls with large visible hunks of white fat and so much filler that the roll was a mushy glob. Even the salad was brown. Never again. I am so disgusted. .

I have never had their sushi but my experience with them on the phone was bad enough for me to never order or visit. Their delivery minimum is $ 15 and when I called 10 minutes away, they told me I had to do a $ 30 order or they would not deliver to me. What a bunch of greedy people! The excuse for having to raise the minimum? Because it was drizzling… The real reason, because I was staying at the Hyatt close by and they wanted to rip me off.

Definitely not worth what you pay. The lunch special salad is basically 3 pieces of lettuce and a slice of cucumber. Didn’t find the sushi to be that good either. I won’t order from here again.

I have probably been to Kira Sushi 75 times in the last few years and it has always been one of our favorite Sushi restaurants — great sushi, big selection of rolls, friendly staff. However, for the last year or so, there seems to be a constant infestation of small, gnat-like bugs flying around the restaurant. I asked one of the servers about this one time and they said it had something to do with the landlord and that they had tried to get ride of them, but this is fairly concerning for a restaurant. Also, if you ever want to order takeout/delivery and want to change something about the standard order, the people taking your order have a very hard time with this, and will tell you they wont make any changes without charging you extra(even if you are trying to substitute a less expensive fish in your sushi platter). Overall rather frustrating.

Sushi quality eating in considerably better than what arrives via delivery. We stopped ordering due to the continuously drop in quality of sushi. Different story eating in, above average sushi.

I gave Kira another chance. This time I ordered 3 rolls: salmon, spicy tuna, and yellowtail. The salmon and yellowtail tasted pretty normal and not fishy, but not the best quality. The spicy tuna I was afraid to eat because of my last experience with the tuna here. It wasn’t bad. It tasted a tiny bit fishy but I kept eating it and thankfully I didn’t get sick. However, I noticed that it wasn’t all tuna, there were pieces of some white colored fish in it as well.

Excellent sushi stop! Ample variety of rolls, original combinations with excellent quality and portions. Each roll is about 15 $ on average but with a generous portion. Comes to about 20 – 25 $ per person. Came back more than once over a week! :)

Delivery for lunch is fresh and fast. The tuna pizza was very fresh and more than enough food for one person and I have a good appetite. The Hawaii roll is also a favorite because the Mix of cooked crab w raw tuna is delicious. Thank you for a great lunch!

If you are big fan of rice, then you probably won’t like Kira Sushi because the sushi to rice ratio here is one of the highest(i.e., not a lot of rice, lots of fish) one of the best I have seen. You can order any of the nigiri or rolls with brown rice for $ 1 additional. The brown rice is seasoned pretty well and doesn’t taste too coarse. I got the Sushi and Sashimi Lunch Special($ 19.50), which also includes a choice of miso soup or salad. The platter included four pieces of assorted sushi(today’s options were tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and fluke), 12 pieces of assorted sashimi(same options as the sushi), and a spicy Manhattan roll. The sashimi pieces were thick and fresh. I was also happy with the options because I liked all those fish. I actually requested no shrimp or mackeral :) The Manhattan roll had spicy yellowtail inside. I was very impressed with the flavor and the thin layer of rice on the outside — I could really taste the texture and the flavor of the fish. I also tried the Out of Control Roll($ 16.95), which had spicy salmon, tuna and tempura crunch topped with eel, avocado and scallions. I wasn’t a big fan of this roll because it wasn’t pressed hard enough, so the rolls came off and was quite messy to eat. You definitely get a much better deal with the lunch sushi & sashimi combo.

We ordered from here for lunch — honestly must have been smallest slices of salmon sashimi I’ve ever had. Like the size and width of a saltine. Paper-thin, basically, and $ 3 a piece. Considering that I’ve had more generous portions for half the price in surrounding towns, this was disappointing. The quality of the fish and the side salad were good, but I would not pay so much for so little again.

Excellent value. 3 roll lunch special is the best. I order here for delivery and they are always on time and the food is always good. Get the Japanese soda, and gyoza.

I liked Kira Sushi. It is a good 3-star, inexpensive sushi option on the main drag in Greenwich. The sushi was pretty alright, the service was also pretty alright, but the space is a little small. They do take reservations if you call ahead; I don’t think they use open table. On this particular visit, I was in a party of four. Unfortunately, only three of the orders were ready at one time. We had to wait about 10 minutes for the last plate. That was a little annoying but I understand that a kitchen gets backed up. It’s good. I would probably go back.

Conventional sushi wisdom: Only go to restaurants with high volume, otherwise the fish won’t be fresh. Never get delivery, because the fish won’t be fresh. We break those rules with regard to Kira Sushi on a regular basis. Which shows we have great results and keep coming back for more. Seriously, there are two kinds of sushi restaurants: the kind where the fish is sparklingly fresh, and the kind you never, ever, want to eat at. We’ve enjoyed Kira’s offerings maybe 15 times over the past 2 – 3 years, almost all delivered the 5 or so miles to our home, and our experience has been 100% spot on. I have no idea how they do it. Its not really even expensive, for sushi. We go for exotic stuff, too, the super high end toro and japanese hamachi and stuff like that. Always perfect. Even uni — perfect. As life’s mysteries go, this one is as baffling as any, and I’m grateful for it. Maybe it’s because everyone there appears to be genuinely Japanese, to the point where they speak very poor English. Fine with me, as long as the fish is fresh. Maybe it has something to do with the very utilitarian, brightly lit décor. Fine — the fish is fresh. Maybe, just maybe — and this is the likeliest explanation — there is someone in charge who really, really cares and is meticulous about making sure the fish is fresh. The other stuff is pretty good. Same seaweed salad everyone else serves. Nothing special about the very serviceable miso soup. Oh, another great thing: the rice is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Spend some time in Japan and you get an appreciation for how much this matters. Dried out, cold or overly vinegared rice is a sure sign that attention to detail is lagging. Kira sushi’s rice is excellent, every time. I could have given Kira 4 stars. Is it really up to the standard of a Nobu or a Blue Ribbon, or one of the many great Tokyo bars? Tough… But for Greenwich and its surrounds, as far as I know, Kira is as good as it gets.

This is my go-to sushi place in Greenwich. I feel like it’s the best sushi around town and you get the most bang for your buck. The rice is always cooked perfectly, the fish is always fresh and the waiters are extremely attentive. There’s not much of an «atmosphere» here, but after one of their mai tais you won’t even notice what’s happening around you… so order one and start the night off right. The tuna pizza appetizer is as appealing to the eye as it is to the taste buds. I wish they had wasabi shumai! I love their Out of Control roll, the Lobster Tempura roll and Jungle Roll. There’s another roll with sliced mango on the outside that I can’t remember the name of, I think it’s the Tropical Roll — outstanding!

We have ordered lunch/dinner here numerous times and ate inside once. The place is intimate with just a few tables and a sushi bar and the décor is lovely. I love the stone/pebble wall that they have. Solid sushi but not my favorite. Love the shrimp tempura appetizer that they have. They do deliver as well but sometimes it takes longer than expected so I’d rather just pick it up myself. Lunch prices are cheap and you get a lot of food, esp when you order the box. Dinner prices are almost doubled. Booo
