The customer service at this location was once quite chilly but has really warmed up in the last year or so. I went in about a month ago to return a flannel shirt that arrived in the mail. It was super wrinkly, as if someone had just scrunched it into a ball and put it in the package prior to delivery. I brought the shirt to the store with the intention of returning it. I was kind of turned off by the lack of care put into the packing and presentation. The manager(I’ve since forgotten her name) gave me 15% off my purchase(I picked up other things while visiting the store) and had someone steam all the wrinkles out of the shirt. So, I continue to frequent Madewell. Customer service is such an important part of the whole experience when it comes to shopping. I’m happy to support a company that hires competent, friendly and sensible employees. In other recent experiences I’ve found all staff to friendly and helpful.

I disagree with the bad reviews. I visited here on Tuesday and the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. I got a beautiful $ 300 purse, so we’ll see if it’s really«Made well.» Don’t be fooled; this is an upper scale J. Crew, but there are no bargains to be had here. One thing that I don’t care for, at all, and this is likely why I’ll never come back, is that their«sale» items are final sale, so no return if the zipper on that $ 300 bag breaks tomorrow.

While you can find some good deals when they have the extra % off sale items, you are still stuck looking at items that are J. Crew prices with quality that makes Old Navy look like gold. I am always on the hunt for a good bargain, so I don’t mind scanning the sale rack in the back. The only issue is that the position of the sale rack makes you walk past the judgemental, rude, and snarky staff that somehow have been chosen to «greet» people. I have been in there about 5 – 6 times, and all but one time I have been COMPLETELY ignored while entering. When someone makes eye contact and then pretends they didn’t see you, it doesn’t exactly make you want to enter the store, no matter how much is on sale. My advice, stay away.

Ehhh! This place it a total ripoff and I am not sure how they can even call themselves ‘Madewell’. Their clothes are terrible quality and ridiculously overpriced for what they are selling. I doubt they will be open 3 for even 3 more months in this economy.
