Often times, it is a bit risky to order sea food in a Colorado restaurant for obvious reasons. However I was very impressed with the quality of the ceviche in this restaurant– superior fish and shrimp with a great fresh taste finished off with avocado. Absolutely delicious. The queso dip was creamy and with a hint of spicy flavor. Chips were crispy and yummy. Margaritas were top notch. The final touch is he attentive and kind wait staff. There is various other Mexican restaurants in the area, but el tapatio is definitely worth trying.

I knew the moment I walked in that I stepped into an old Bennigans. From that moment I should of walked straight out. Horrible service, disgusting food. Chips were stale, salsa tasted like alla vodka sauce, chicken in the burrito was hard and had a rotten taste, ground beef had no seasoning and the chili relleno was filled with cream cheese. What a waste of money and stomach space! YUCK!

Service was more or less on point, for when i visited. Attentive and not fast, but by no means slow service, i cnt recall the name of the dish i ordered, however i do remember everything i got, and at first glance, it looked amazing, but very small portions for a $ 36 platter for two people, i had a burnt in one corner perfect on the other side small piece of steak, a multi-flavor lobster(i actually enjoyed the uncertanty and shift of the flavor, it wasnt horrible) 4 supersized gmo shrimps, which were the highlight of the entire meal, rather simple beans, good rice and a ton of tortillas, they will skimp you on the meat, but make it up with the flour. And decent ceviche, though there is better, and like I said, for the price i paid, it was not worth my time. Although i might stop by again if im really hungry and cant find tge Boston Market.

Let me preface by saying that I am a professional food critic for Unilocal. OK so this place serves up da bomb dirty mexican food in da mile high, yo. We ordered all sorts of dranks and tha salsa was DABOMB. Sheeeah… it had just the perfect blend of fresh tomato, robust red onion, a touch of vibrant cilantro, and was absolutely stunning. The tortilla chips were warm in perfect tex-mex fashion. AIGHTSOGETDIS: So my wife be all, «OHDAMNNNNN, I want some uh dat QUESO!!! The queso dip came out piping hot, a creamy, steaming pot of sharp, melted cheese with the perfect amount of freshly chopped jalepenos. DANG we was already full, yo! But we had to keep on orderin. I got me a combo plate, foo!!! I ordered the number 1 combo: tosada, beef taco, chile relleno, cheese enchilada. It came out on a hot platter, smothered in ooey gooey cheese. The perfect plate of Mexican food. I was in pure Mexican bliss. And the flavors did not take away from the stunning presentation. BUTYOUKNOW I AINTDONE, YO! I’ve always been quite fond of sopapillas. So I ordered one for myself. Once again, it arrived HOT, with a ton of sugar and cinnamon and plenty of honey. I folded in plenty of honey and took a huge bite. Pure heaven. Loved this place. For all you fools dissing this place for not being fancy enough, go back to California where yo snobby ass belongs! This is pure Americana Dirty Mexican. Don’t change a thing, El Tapatio. Minus one star for weak margaritas. But our server nicely responded to our complaint.

Quite possibly the worst Mex joint I’ve eaten at in the Denver area… ever. The ambiance is ‘70s and that doesn’t bug that much, but the food… geez. I ordered chicken soft tacos and the corn tortillas were cold and basically uncooked while the puny shreds of chicken were also cold, terribly salty and dry. They actually served the three«tacos» flat, not folded, and only topped with shredded lettuce — no tomatoes, salsa, olives, refried beans or cheese… nothing. The side of beans was pathetically small, and the rice was hard and undercooked. To top it off, my Tecate draft beer tasted like tequila… probably a dirty mug. The server was nice and replaced with a can of Tecate. This was my second time here and it’ll be my last. For a $ 10 plate, I could have gotten better Mex food from 7 – 11. Don’t waste your money here, folks. It’s a joke.

The food came out with poor quality and no attention to detail. Over garnished the plate.

Maybe, just maybe, I could get work at the shithole Conoco at I25 and arapahoe(is it STILL Dick’s Arapahoe whatever??) get a room at the motel 6 dive, and spend my free time waking hours HERE. That would be something to consider.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Always quick, friendly, and delicious. I recommend the queso blanco and the chili rellenos. Only negative is that the Margaritas taste a little watered down in the giant cups.

These guys moved right next door to a Mexican restaurant I’ve went to for over 20 years. El Parrel. Trying to put them out of business I can only assume. I felt like I was eating a mooshy, salty burrito from Applebee’s at this other place. Go next door to El Parrel get some GREAT Mexican food, much better service and far better atmosphere. This place is a disgrace.

I stumbled into this place. The hostess was very(extremely) rude to me but the manager immediately took control of the situation and showed us to our table. The manager personally took care of us and we ended up leaving with an extremely positive experience. I plan on returning next time I want Mexican food, which was amazing also!

I had their chicken tacos. The filling is way too salty. The salsa and guacamole was good.

We were craving Mexican food on an Easter Sunday and were so happy to have found El Tapatio since most restaurants were closed. The fish tacos were full of flavor and had the right amount of kick. I would go back again and again. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Let me preface by saying I’ve only been here once. First impression was so-so. The service was fine and the chips and salsa were okay, nothing to get excited about. I ordered horchata and an enchilada plate. While I waited I noticed the bizarre American pub setting. The restaurant outlay was like an Applebee’s with a bar in the center, wood paneling and not really Mexican decorated. The horchata was huge and good, the enchilada plate was not very exciting. Dinner for two with soft drinks, horchata, Sopapia only cost $ 26. service-4/5 atmosphere-3/5 food 2⁄5 price 5⁄5

Lightening fast service… seated, waited on, and served immediately. Large food and drink menu. They have molcajetes! Nice sized patio will come in handy this summer.

Friends suggested this as a TexMex place for my family of homesick Texans. The food was pretty good with the exception of the salsa and chips. TexMex chips & salsa are traditionally served warm. Service was good. Atmosphere was a bit dingy. Bathrooms were filthy.

Ahhhh I love this place. Their green chili is amazing! They have the best cheese enchiladas. They use queso fresco or some white cheese that is melty deliciousness. My friend always gets their quesadilla which is huge and stuffed to the max. If you are hungry… Or straight up starving. This place is the best Mexican in the area. It shares a parking lot with el parral but this place beats any other!

This is one of my usual go-to places. I’ve had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I try to go when the bartender, Sal, is there too. He’s the best bartender there and always makes my drinks perfect. They also have Pacifico on tap. I like seafood, and the ceviche de camarón is some of the best I’ve had. There are lots of TVs around the bar and restaurant so its a good place to check out sporting events/games.

I am not sure why so many reviews are so low, apps, drinks and dinner for two for $ 50 is a good deal to me. Service was wonderful! The chips and salsa were fantastic, actual salsa that doesn’t taste like Pace… thank goodness. Tri Colored chips, perfectly crunchy with just the right amount of salt. Con Queso was OK, better after mixing some of the salsa in it. The top shelf margs were fresh tasting and did not not taste like sweet and sour mix that gives you instant heartburn-they have a good variety of options for margs– they even have one that is 60 oz’s! HA! That is insane and no one needs that big of a marg, but could be fun to share with a date! I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were some of the best I have had! Definitely will be back here again!
