I had a chance to visit Poynter on a recent trip to Bloomington. The large metal fabrication facility isn’t open to the public — they were constructing a fermenter for my employer, Sun King Brewing Co., at the time of our visit. Poynter supplies tanks to pharmaceutical manufacturers and food production facilities but their specialty is fabricating large-scale HVAC ductwork for buildings like the convention center and airport. According to a sales rep, Poynter is currently fabricating ductwork for 20 of the 50 largest construction projects in the state. High quality work done right here in Indiana. Don’t let the virtual and service economies fool you, Americans still make things.
