Sonic Drive-In

Just as good as all the other Sonic’s I’ve been to, and this one has a inside dinning area.

This Sonic is fairly attractive from the outside with lots of landscaping (crape myrtles were in full bloom) and it is conveniently located next to Love’s gas station near a highway exit. Pulled in here thinking we would try the dine in service for the first time, partly thinking service might be a little quicker and partly to stretch our legs after a few hours in the car.
None of the Sonics I have frequented offered dine in options but service has always been pretty efficient. The dining area is actually a separate room with restrooms, both bonuses for a Sonic. I thought it was a little unusual to not find a counter to place my order. Each booth has a phone to place the order, effectively the same process as if I had remained in my car at the drive in parking spot. There were only 2 – 3 other parties in the dining room while there were maybe 10 – 12 customers outside. No problem placing our order for a large drink, though the phone wasn’t any better than the squawk box experience at the drive in booths outside. While waiting for service I noticed the dining room was in serious need of attention – dirty and sticky tables, food on tables and floor, a number of flies, etc. I was glad to only be ordering a drink because I wouldn’t want to eat there. As mentioned, service was friendly but it was definitely not efficient. Perhaps they were short staffed on this day but it took an extraordinarily long time just to get a drink. By the time our order came the dining room was empty.
If you decide to pay a visit, just stay in your car. The serving area at Subway next door at Love’s is probably a better destination if you want to order inside.
