Steak ‘n Shake

I used to eat here a lot with my family. Not anymore. I don’t know what’s changed. The past few times we’ve gone in the food hasn’t been good. The place is dirty. I mean NASTY. I’ll post the picture I took at our most recent trip below. I know I won’t be returning again. I wish there were a 0 star option.

I am such a fan of Steak n Shake. I have been eating at this location for years. Over the years they have added alot of options to eat. They have specialty shakes, seasonal shakes as well as the standard vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. It takes a while in the drive thru since the food is cooked fresh when you order and isnt put under a heat lamp waiting for a customer. Even with the wait, you can easily eat a half hour lunch here.

My husband stopped at 4:00 a.m. after working third shift to get breakfast!
It was revolting.
The biscuits were so hard I could not even bite in to one (could have broke a tooth) and that is no exaggeration, literally hard as rocks! Gross!!!
Couldn’t even bite into the egg and cheese biscuit, biscuit was soooo hard, like it was left setting out on a counter for at least a month or longer.
Can’t believe that some one would serve something as gross as this, what a waste of money, could have waited and went to Cracker Barrel or even McDonald’s and would have had a better breakfast.
Had to throw it all in the trash! What a waste!!!
You shouldn’t call yourselves a restaurant!

Pretty good food and affordable! The stag not so friendly or and good customer service.

This is a baseline go to restaurant for a slightly better quality burger; as compared to swill like Burger King or McDonalds. It’s really not too much better of quality, but it is a bump up from the others; for what it is, for the price.
I don’t eat red meat anymore, but the chicken sandwiches are OK. My son usually gets the cheddar burgers and the buffalo burger sliders.
I can handle the chili cheese fries for the most part, even though I could do without the processed cheese sludge they serve it with. I like the fries and the chili, but I think I am going to ask for real shredded cheddar cheese next time because I know they have it there.
Regardless, it’s what I consider my dirty little secret and/​or weakness when I eat there.
Otherwise, I truly watch what I eat, and try to eat as organically as I can when I am not eating out on occasion.
Since they discontinued their southwest chicken salad with the chipotle dressing, there is really nothing else on the menu that is remotely healthy to eat. Their taco salad is seriously NOT good at all. It’s served with a salsa laden slurry of meat — ground beef or chicken topped with ranch dressing. It’s basically just a garbage salad. Gross and Ugh. I had to send it back because it was just that bad. I rarely send food away or back, but I just couldn’t deal with that scene.
Their saving grace is their wide variety of delicious shakes — of course. They are very very good, and if I can try to ignore the fact that the average shake chimes in at around 1000 calories, I am good to go. ;o)

I had gotten a burger and onion rings here through the drive through late at night a few months ago and was not impressed.
I gave it a second chance last night after some people told me to and it was fabulous. I had a triple with cheese and onion rings. Bun was fresh. Burgers were fresh and hot. I liked the big pickles. And where else can you eat like that for $ 4 for meal. Plus 1.99 fora coke zero if you choose too, and a sit down place at that! I will def be back.

Steak and Shake is Steak and Shake. Got the patty melt and enjoyed it like every other time. Far better than McDonald’s

Ok so I’m not a steak and shake regular. I have nothing personally against the establishment, I just burned out along time I ago. I received a coupon mailer yesterday and decided to give their breakfast a try. They have new breakfast taco; I’m a sucker for such things. I ordered the egg, sausage and cheese. Pretty standard nothing special but I got a free coupons so it is what it is. Coffee is fresh; that’s definitely a plus I also ordered cheddar scrambler and it was shut for me. The service was good although I hate to be made to wait and do drink orders and food orders at the same time. I prefer drink orders first then come back and get food order but that’s just a personal thing. Overall it is very worth the trip coupons or not

Great Staff, good food, and fast service!

This place always makes me happy. No matter what time it day it is, the service is good, the food comes out fast, and never disappoints.

Dear Steak n Shake… This is your version of a turtle sundae ??? wow. pathetic and so disappointed.

I come here for lunch a couple times a month since it is close by the office. Never a disappointment. Quick service. Friendly people.

This is a hang out for many teens. Good food. Great shakes. Great fries. Can’t complain.
