Jake & Rip’s

This is a good dinner I love there food. They have an ok service it takes a little while for the food to come, but other wise I would like to be here for lunch and dinner 1 a week.

Glad I stopped in here tonight. People were friendly, service was fast, and food was good. I had the catfish and shrimp basket. Food was fast coming out and both the fish and shrimp were hot. Cole slaw was a little different but I really liked it. Shrimp flavor had a nice twist and the catfish was juicy and delicious. Service was really good and quick and my drink always stayed full. Price was not bad and I will certainly come back when I am in the area.

I’ve stopped at Jake and rips on several occasions while driving back-​and-​forth to Memphis. Ive found the waitstaff to be friendly and attentive and the food to be delicious! I tried the catfish and the pulled pork, enjoying both. I think they have the best fried okra I’ve ever eaten. And of course you need to have their sweet tea!

This place ought to have a 3−½ or 4 star rating, not the 2−½ it has at the time of writing this. So I’m putting down 5 when I think it’s a solid 4. I stopped in for to go food while passing through. It has the kind of fun, homey décor chain steak houses try to imitate. I was greeted warmly and had good service. My food was good (pork sandwich and fried okra). I hope to be back!

Everything we ordered was good! Catfish hot and tasty. Tamales covered in cheese. BBQ plate delicious.

Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgable.
Glad we stopped on our way home from Natchez.

We had no complaints. Checked it out on Unilocal before going. BBQ salad is what I had and it was outstanding. BBQ was very tender. Beer was cold.

We were reluctant based on prior reviews but happy to report we had great meal. Good service & good food. Too bad we are passing through because we’d definitely come back!

Wish i would have checked Unilocal before i went into this place. I need to stop judging a book by it cover. This place looked like it was packed so i assumed it was a local favorite. Also it smelled excellent outside but that was until i got inside. Took at least 10 minutes to get seated and had 3 employees tell us someone will be right with you. The place wasn’t even busy. I didn’t understand how employees couldn’t just stop walking around and sit my coworker and I.
Ordered the pulled pork «jumbo» sandwich. There was nothing jumbo about the sandwich and the pork was cooked well but was just «functional» to me. Little bit of taste but nothing great. One thing I will say is that this restaurant is in dire need of a deep DEEP clean. There was dust all over the place and the one thing that made me almost get up and walk out was the amount of dust built up around the air conditioning vents. Total lack of responsibility on managements part. The build up on the vents should be enough to close this place down. That air feeds the entire floor and pushes dirty air onto everything. Im not from Grenada but i can see why locals wont even spend money here. I do not recommend this place until after they do some cleaning of their restaurant.

Forget the attitude. The waitress is just incompetent. I don’t even know where to start. No water, forgot our orders, had to flag her down for refills, then messed up my bill. The bartender is no better. Wanted to watch the NFL draft. She said the owner is adamant that the college baseball game is on all televisions. But the owner is not around, he phoned in. Really!!!
And the food wasn’t even good. Ribs and baked beans were very salty.
Go to Applebee’s next door.

My first mistake was not reading their Unilocal reviews. My second mistake was getting annoyed while waiting to be seated (with only one couple ahead of me, all 3 of us were ignored by over 6 employees for over 5 minutes) and deciding to sit at the empty bar (that should have been a clue the the bartender’s lack of lunchtime fans). Although all the staff seem apathetic, Apparently their jobs are extremely secure.
The bar and menu were dirty and sticky.
I ordered the catfish plate (with H20 $ 10.25). Half the fish the fish were old/​cold. I mentioned this to the bartender and requested she tell the manager. Nothing was done.
Be warned, this place is not good. I will not be returning.

Filthy… Every surface in the place was nasty!
Corn and beans were not hot. Pork was OK.

Service leaves a lot to be desired but the tamales are great and the beer is cold. If you don’t need a lot of hand holding and have some time, check it out!

This is one of these places that seems packed in Grenada and I do not get the charm. First of all, it takes forever to get your drinks or your food. Its that way even when it is not busy. The waitresses never seem to get your food right… more time. The BBQ is dry and not that great. The catfish platter is small for what you pay… catfish nuggets, not fillets. Getting refills is a pain. I am usually ready to hurry up and get out of there by the time we are done… Its not the cleanest place either… Unless you are a native Grenada person, you will hate this place.
