Hair With Moxie

I’ve been seeing Katie for three years now and I have never been happier to find such a great stylist! She does wonders on my curly hair and is a color superstar. She has helped my hair look flawless from my pixie up until the longer cut I have today, I have recommended her to countless friends and their cuts and colors are always fabulous. Thanks Katie!!!

Should have known to run when they locked me in, but hey things happen. While waiting for a stylist to come back, I was stuck hearing the women who worked there making catty coments about women’s breasts and fat dimpled asses. Once someone arrived to let me out I left. Not going to get anything done there.

Having recently moved here from Eugene I was looking for a new salon and stylist. I wanted someone very experienced. I read the reviews on Unilocal and based on that I called for an appointment. I now wonder if all the good reviews are from friends and family of the beauticians. I asked for someone who is experienced and a very good cutter. I was told that my beautician «charges a little more than the other stylists.» I assumed that meant that she was very experienced and skilled. My appointment was mid-​afternoon on a weekday. The shop was totally empty except for me and my beautician. In fact, she had to leave me a few times and answer the phone because of no secretary. The shop was clean but very dated and had only 1 hair washing sink that I could see. My haircut was the worst cut I have ever had. It was the sort of cut you would expect from one of the $ 10 salons in town. She was very sweet but seemed like a novice. She just randomly started chopping parts of the hair with no pattern, rhyme or reason or measuring involved. When I saw what was happening I showed her how to measure the length (using a comb for measuring) so that it would all be even and blend. She didn’t cut enough off. I had to ask her to remove another inch. I had to ask her to thin the ends so that it lays smoother. When I got home and looked in my mirror I was shocked to see a bald patch the size of a dime in the back by my hairline. Also, she actually charged LESS than the other beauticians. Now I know why. I am so disappointed.

They color my hair all the time and also put those curls in for me. I love how they take care of my split ends also and make sure my hair is perfect.

Le was great. We talked for most of the time and she was super nice about my crappy home hair coloring. There is still a bit of damamge but I think she did a longer cut but I was acting a bit concerned about the cut. I will definitely comeback, which may be sooner rather than later.

I came here with a really bad hair dye job & cut. So I figured I would try a local spot closer to home to try and get it fixed. I should have come here first. Tina did my hair, and completely fixed it perfectly. I feel like myself again! I highly recommend this place, they are professional and have a really awesome atmosphere. I’ve been seeing Georgiana, the owner of the salon, for years… Far before she opened Hair With Moxie… And my whole family and I have stuck with her and her stylists through all that time. If she is ever busy, I am 100% comfortable seeing Angela or any of her other talented stylists. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I feel like I’m reuniting with family every time I walk through the door. The couple times I’ve strayed and tried anyone else (or allowed friends in beauty school to experiment on my hair. Bad idea) I’ve always regretted it and have gone back to have her «fix» my hair– something she seems to be able to do no matter what the damage is. These ladies are artists and friends, and truly want to help you find the best look for YOU. I’m in downtown PDX for school most of my time but still recommend Hair With Moxie to all my friends from anywhere in the greater Portland Metro area– whatever your travel time may be, it is SO worth it! If only there were more than 5 stars!!!

I’d say that it was about 2 years ago that I went into Hair with Moxie, at their old location. I had previously gone to Brilliance salon and day spa because a coworker was the part time reception there. However, they were always super busy, slightly expensive, and I never really left completely in love with my hair.
I decided to try Hair with Moxie because they had an opening during my last minute I want a hair cut asap! I had a budget of a little over 100 and no more than that for a cut and color. I explained that to the two stylists there and showed them a picture of what I was looking for. One did my coloring and then to keep me in my budget, we had the other stylist cut my hair for me. I thought it was so nice that they worked everything out with me, even though they knew they wouldn’t be getting as big of a tip. I left LOVING it and it looked like the phone, got compliments for a long time after that!
Last summer I had this OMG I need my hair cut now moment, so I went to some mall salon right after work, and later I found some hairs that weren’t cut with everything else. My goal this summer is to go back to Hair with Moxie and get at least a cut if not color too, I want to make sure I give a good tip this time!
Best hair experience I’ve had so far!

I went here for the first time and Tina was my stylist. She took the time to help me figure out the cut that would be right for me. I was uncertain about having bangs cut so she suggested I wait and if I changed my mind to come back in and she could do it in a matter of minutes. It was a very friendly, fun salon. I highly recommend Tina.

I have pin straight hair, and had such a bad perm experience as a child I always shined away from getting another. However, recently the lack of body in my hair was driving me crazy, so I searched Unilocal and found Hair with Moxie.
The experience was awesome! I was laughing and enjoying my time with Angela while she was giving me a beachwave perm. She is AMAZING! I was so happy with the results and enjoyed my entire appointment. Everyone there is very friendly and they all have a great sense of humor. The price was also very reasonable, as I was trying to stay within a budget.
Overall, very, VERY, happy with the results and I will definitely be going back and referring my friends.

It was probably 4 years ago that I happened to visit Hair With Moxie. I initially chose the salon because it had the best rates available. I was about to recieve the best haircut of my life. My entire life. I truly love this salon, and its staff. Come here if you want amazing hair, and a non traditional salon experience.

Ever since Angela has been doing my hair, I get compliments not only from my family and friends, but total strangers have commented on how pretty the color is! After enduring some pretty goofy haircuts over the last several years, I finally got the courage to try somebody else, found Angela, and I’ve been happy ever since. I can’t recommend Angela and the other girls at Hair with Moxie highly enough. The atmosphere is friendly, they all make you feel welcome, and you walk out looking and feeling great!

I’m sure many of you fellow curly haired ladies are used to stylists claiming «Oh sure, I can do curly hair., only to be disappointed after my cut because they used classic straight hair cutting techniques and the curls didn’t grow out well. That all changed when I found Angela. She not only can do curly hair, but she has curly hair herself. So she’s intimately familiar with the issues that come with curly hair. She will know exactly how to make your curls look their best. Don’t settle for stylists who leave you unsatisfied. That’s why I travel all the way from NoPo to Gresham to get my hair done.
