Cafe Du Monde

Finally, I have found a location that has a machine working for their frozen café au lait! The employees don’t seem as happy to be working here but your orders are prepared quickly and you’re on your way in less than a minute with delicious coffee and beignets.
It’s conveniently located in the center at the entrance of the Oakwood Mall so if you’re not interested in shopping and needed some coffee and beignets on-​the-​go without fighting through a billion people in the French Quarter, this location does nicely.

I went to the mall today to get some frozen coffee from café du monde in oakwood and was disrespectfully spoken to from one of the workers because I was standing at the wrong end for my order. There’s a way and tone on how you deliver a message. It’s sad how people can be so ignorant base on color and honey, don’t get this yellow tone skin girl twisted because I sure did snap back when she said, «do you have a problem?» No, bitch. I don’t have a problem but I do have a problem with your attitude. Can’t even get some damn coffee without encountering an ignorant ass girl. Get the f%#**
Keep mumbling beneath her breath cause she got the right one to be ignorant towards. Definitely made my report to corporate and supposedly this female is the manager. I don’t know how the hell she got that position because she definitely don’t know shit about customer service.

Oakwood Mall is THE destination to be on the Westbank of New Orleans. They have a variety of stores that appeal to nearly everyone’s taste in shopping experience. The thing that really is a saving Grace is having the Café’ Du Monde Coffee Stand in the middle of this shoppers paradise!

This particular location is located in the Oakwood Center. Aim for where the new H&M store will be at.
They have the typical items: beignets, coffee, souvenirs, and even the powders for the beignets. The employees were cordial. Service was quick and precise.

Located in the mall in Gretna, this Café Du Monde has all the goods of the one on Decatur minus the crowd and chaos. Can’t go wrong with an order of beignets and a café au lait!

Located in the Oakwood Center shopping mall in Gretna (Westbank), this is a great place to get café au lait and beignets without the hassle of going downtown. Beignets, to put it simply, are basically pastries made of deep fried dough that taste like a hot doughnut. Indoor location away from the noise and activity of the food court. I found this location to be convenient, and never a long wait. The beignets are sold at a minimum of 3, so it’s best to enjoy this with a friend. The only drawback is that this location is not a 24-​hour operation.

If you are not in the mood to fight your way downtown, to the French Quarter, then this location will be your friend. As the saying goes, the West Bank is the best bank, so it only makes sense that New Orleans would allow delicious beignets, from this signature restaurant, to get a location on the Westside.
Coming to this location will cause you to lose the ability to stand outside, in a long line, in the elements to get your beignets and coffee. You will lose the ability to listen to live music being performed by someone while you wait to get your delicious treats. One great thing that you will gain is steady air conditioned accommodations. You will have the option to peruse other stores while eating your beignets, in the air conditioning as well. Essentially, you have less congestion here and gain air conditioning by going to this location. Each location is going to have massive amounts of people and shopping available. This location is located inside Oakwood Mall, so you will have cheaper food options available to you as well.
Definitely stop by here and get your beignet fix on! If you never had a set, then shame on you! Come turn yourself into a powder sugar crack head!

Besides downtown in the French quarter, this is the place I love to get my beignet fix! It’s usually a hit for me but sometimes they miss the dot. Like any other place it’s made right in front of you but I’ve always gotten a hot order of beignets.
I come here with my mom every time we’re out shopping in the mall. It’s an affordable indulgence and to spend some quality time with a loved one. You can eat beignets, drink their yummy Café Au Lait, and talk your problems away. I got the chance to go with both my parents yesterday after brunch. It was just like old times except my little brother was missing.
My mom always says this is the only place she can truly enjoy her order of beignets. She complains the one out in Lakeside mall is too doughy, while the one in Oakwood is light and fluffy. You’re not nauseated with too much dough in the middle of it.
If you ever get a to go order, make sure to ask for the powdered sugar in a separate bag. That way when you want to eat it later you can reheat the beignet by it’s self and pour as much sugar over it as possible. The sugar melts down into a goopy substance over your beignet and hardens when it cools. Taking away from the yummy goodness when you reheat it.

This would be my second visit to Café Du Monde and I was not disappointed. Sure it was a little dirty, but what do you expect when the place is open all the freaking time and you top off those delicious beignets with obscene amounts of powdered sugar. The beignets were excellent and the service was quick. One thing that was a little lacking was that our server was so busy that he got my husband’s coffee ordered. We both ordered a frozen café olé, but only mine came in frozen. He kept his regular coffee, but I think he would have enjoyed the frozen kind since the weather was post Isaac and everybody wanted something cold. Either way, I’ll come back.

What can I say… the Beignets are excellent!!! You got to try them!!!

I’m giving this Café Du Monde 4 stars, for the main reason that it’s convenient for me.
It’s a Café Du Monde just like any other. You’re gonna get café au lait and beignets. When I go to this one, I usually just get a frozen café au lait, which is just fabulous! This location is in the mall, so it’s never packed. They also have their classic little green tables and chairs for sitting. Nice view of the mall fountain from the seats.

A friend of mine said that coffee and beignets at the Café Du Monde was a must in New Orleans. Since I was tired and wanted a pick me up before hitting the city again. We did it the lazy way and checked out the location in the Oakwood Shopping Mall right behind our hotel. The café au lait was ok (not that I have much to compare it to) and the beignets were good (though I have no reference for that either). Kind of weird being served landmark food items by 16-​year-​olds.

If you’re for some reason on the Westbank, this is as good as any spot for café au lait and beignets. It’s in the mall.
