We were heading into the Hong Kong market and decided to try this place out. It was a bit chilly outside so hot soup sounded like a great choice. Vietnamese egg rolls to start off and first thing I noticed was that it had clear noodles inside as opposed to the typical white vermicelli. It wasn’t as crunchy as I would have liked it to be but it was good none the less. I had the phở filet mignon and she had the bun bo hue. My phở was 6⁄10. The broth was lacking a little flavor so I added sriracha and jalapeños to kick it up a bit. Her BBH was 8⁄10. Her soup was good but she wanted more spice so she added the paste that they provided with the meal for those that need some extra heat. I thought the broth had a little too much lemongrass added. So those that don’t like that lemongrass taste, this dish isn’t for you. Staff was friendly and checked on us frequently. I added this note in only because I’ve notice other Asian cuisines that don’t check on you once your food is out.

WOW! Sorry that I waited so long to try this place. The broth was delicious. I am excited to FINALLY have am on point Phở place near my house. I always want to go to lilly’s but hate the drive from the west bank to uptown… now I don’t even have to leave the wank!

So far so good. I’ve just moved into the area and needed to have a healthier option to fill my belly. I opted for this place after it was recommended to me by one of my clients. It’s actually better than I’d expected. I found it a week ago and have already eaten there 5 times. I hope to be more adventurous in the future but for now, I’m sticking with the rice dish with grilled shrimp… except I opt for their salad instead of the rice. The house dressing is light and delicious and its always fresh and crispy. I love the veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce as well. The dishes were nice and clean on each visit and overall the place is well kept. The staff is nice, welcoming and always smiling… at least everytime I’ve been… thats always a plus :)

Amazing pork with vermicelli and egg rolls. Better than nine roses, which we’ve been going for years. Chicken not as good, but they’re quick and friendly.

First time here. I had the filet mignon phở. It was delicious. My little one had the phở ga. He enjoyed as well. We’ll definitely go back.

Meh. Went to lunch with a Vietnamese chef friend and he took care of the ordering for us. While they had some good dishes, he thought most of them were poorly executed. Personally, I didn’t mind too much but the quality was just not as good as the other places that had that space. The egg rolls were good though. And I loved the fact that you could get a side of shrimp paste if you know to ask for it.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review, but after today I just couldn’t let this one pass. My parents and I have been going to Rice Paper for a few weekends now. We’ve gown tired for eating the same places for Sunday Brunch, and looked forward to trying dishes out at a new place. We arrived a little after 12 and the place was busier than usual. Granted that it was a holiday weekend of course. My mom made a comment about them most likely being understaffed. There were tables that were uncleaned and we were unsure of where to sit. So we opted for a clean table that was near the entrance to the bathroom counter/door. It took a while for someone to notice us sitting there. The girl who I’m just going to think is the manager mainly because she was the only person not in uniform. She didn’t seem to notice us the entire time we were there. She noticed the big table of six to eight people however. A male waiter eventually noticed us and brought us menus. I felt sorry for him because he was obviously flustered from running around. We made our order around the same time that table of 6 that entered right after us did. We got out drinks and dish of veggies for the noodle bowls we ordered and thus the waiting begins. I sat there making small conversation with my parents, and after a while browsing through yahoo news. While my parents were entertaining themselves with the dog competition on TV. In that time, two small parties had walked in, seated and their orders were taken. I stopped my reading to take a look at how long it’d been since I checked-in. My parents were already past the point of impatient. Unilocal tells me I’ve checked in 44 minutes ago. My parents are grumbling about the time and my mom is getting even more pissed that the three tables that came in after us already got their food. All we had was three bowls of noodles that should have been easy to prepare and brought out. I guess at this point I should have gotten up and approached the front. They would have had a pleasant conversation with myself, but my mom beat me to it. My mom rarely ever complains about something but today for some reason her tolerance was zilch. She comes back obviously fuming, rambling about their looking for our ticket. My dad gets up and they both agree to pay for our drinks and leave. We get to the counter and their still looking for our ticket in the kitchen. My mom is making a scene and I’m a little embarrassed since it’s obvious that people are looking, but I can’t blame her for being pissed. She stalks out the restaurant and into Hong Kong Market to buy stuff so we can go home and eat. Now, I’m a person who rarely ever makes a scene when I’m out dining. I’ve had horrible dining experiences and I just don’t like confrontation so I just bite the bullet and finish out the meal. The one thing that really got to me was the fact that no one took the time to go around and acknowledge the customers. The girl who I’m still going to think is the manager didn’t bother to walk around and cater to the tables that were waiting. The incident today could have been easily avoided if she’d simply took some time to see who was waiting. The only time I saw her work so hard was to acknowledge a middle-aged couple that I’ve seen the last few times we came in to eat. She caters to their every need up until their order is taken then they are left there to wait. It’s a shame because we’ve come here almost every Sunday for the past month and a half. The food is definitely something we enjoy, because the menu offers a lot of options and I’ve always trying a new dish every time I dine here. Just I was definitely disappointed and I was understanding that they were busy and understaffed, but the person whose in charge should have at least took the time to «manage» things better. My past few jobs it’s been instilled in my mind that no matter what just something as little as a greeting or asking if there’s anything they can get for you while you wait. As long as the customer, knows you acknowledge them being there they will feel appreciated. That’s how business should be. Shouldn’t you do your very best to appreciate the business you get from people that walk through your door? I’m not sure when we’ll be back. But I’m sure we will be later on because I do enjoy their food, it’s just a matter of when my parents will get over it. And thus my rant ends here. Sorry you guys had to endure such a lengthy rant. xD

My first bite of phở with a piece of sliced beef was awful. I kept sniffing the meat because something just didn’t taste or smell right. I tried a few more bites and I couldn’t eat without gagging. At that point, I made an attempt to try a different type of soup. It smelled so bad I only took one bite. Upon paying, I apologized and nicely asked if I could just pay for half of the bill because the food wasn’t beyond edible. The cashier told me I had to pay for everything, and I did. The waitress did nothing wrong so I still tipped her. I paid $ 30 for a bad experience. If they are willing to choose money over a bad review, then so be it. I left going to Brothers for some fried chicken. There was a bad taste in my mouth when I left. Yuck

Pretty solid Phở. Since Phở Tau Bay closed on the Westbank my husband and I have searched for a place close to home. I think we found it. Broth was flavorful and the large enough for 2 meals for me. Got some spring rolls and they were good. I think the peanut sauce is a little lacking in flavor. Other than that we got a ton of food for $ 35. Definitely will be back soon.

This restaurant is «Phở-nomenal»! My dad heard about the owner being a previous chef at Phở Tau Bay, so we had to check it out. We are so pleased with the food and service here, this is definitely going to be our new go-to phở place. The wait-staff were all so pleasant and helpful, which really makes you want to go back just for that. And the food was outstanding. I got the phở filet mignon, delicious. My grandmother, who usually doesn’t eat much, ate practically all of her wonton soup! And my parents(my mom being incredibly picky about phở) loved their phở ga. We also got some egg rolls and pork spring rolls which were all very tasty. We can’t wait to come back here! We will definitely be spreading the word about this new, great restaurant!

Hallelujah! I think we finally have a good Vietnamese restaurant located at the Hong Kong Market! Rice Paper newly opened and is operated by a former chef from Phở Tau Bay, so when a friend told me all about this place, I was excited and my expectations were quite high. We stopped in for lunch and I was immediately impressed because there were a good number of people here. You might be thinking«Wow, you are easily impressed!» but hey, the last restaurant that was here never had any customers when I ate there, so there’s that. They have quite an extensive menu of spring rolls, phở, banh mi, vermicelli bowls and the like and the menu isn’t lacking a lot of options(filet mignon phở, anyone?). I decided to get a small bowl of the phở with round steak and brisket and because it’s a new place and we were first timers, we also decided to get an order of egg rolls and and an order of spring rolls. I also got a Vietnamese coffee. The phở was amazing and the broth was full of flavor and yummy. You can definitely taste the link between Rice Paper and Phở Tau Bay. The egg rolls were also really good. I like that they were lighty fried and the«main show» was the inside, which you could tell was all fresh ingredients. The pork spring rolls were delicious, and easily measure up to my favorite pork spring rolls at Phở Bang. I am so excited that the Westbank has another really good Vietnamese restaurant and one more delectable option when a craving for Phở hits. I can’t wait to return and give these wonderful people my business.
