Cool privately owned coffee shop with great coffee! Heard the food is delicious, but haven’t tried anything yet.

After hearing all the positive reviews from all of my friends, I had to try Grindhouse for myself and let me tell you, it lived up to the expectations. Great coffeehouse décor, friendly staff, and best of all great food and a cup. I ordered the«Chorizo-Saur Jr.» which is a chorizo burrito, and it was excellent and the presentation was great as well. This place definitely cares about the details. Awesome place!

Great coffee, excellent food, they fixed the slow wifi, and delightful staff. Don’t tell Gabe he looks tired, no one likes that.

I still love their coffee, but I came here about a month ago, and the service was not friendly. Maybe the person was just having a bad day, but he did not even acknowledge me when I said thank you & told him to have a nice day, he just ignored me & walked away. It was shady to me. I will be back for the coffee, but I hope service will be better next time.

Good food. Good coffee. Nice décor. Great for people watching. Fun people good location. Great for meetings. The décor shows much attention to detail. Someone knitted cozies for the wooden chairs, to make them more comfortable, and each one’s different. The first time I came here there was this adorable hippie behind the counter with dreadlocks down to his butt. The chalkboard is detailed and funny. The window seats allow a nice view of the sidewalk, and it’s in the best part of Griffith. The food is artisanal without artisanal prices. They offer vegan selections, which makes my West Coast heart happy ;) Acoustics are nice, too

Awesome Owners and great coffee. If you’re bored of the same coffee you drink everyday or if you’re out on a chilly day. I suggest you try this place out. Many options on the menu including food. I try going every chance I get.

If I could give this place ten stars I would. This was my first time here and I must say what a GREAT place. I don’t know why I waited so long to try this cute little gem in downtown Griffith. I had the Dornish Mulled Apple Cider and the Crouque Grindhouse sandwich and they both were DELISH!!! My niece had the Pumpkin King Latte with the Pumpkin Scone with a Cinnamon glaze and it was beyond wonderful. This is my new favorite place. If you haven’t tried the Grindhouse yet, and are reading this post, hurry and try it now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic food and top notch coffee. The owners are the sweetest. This is on par with some of the best places in Chicago. You don’t see many places who offer a wide variety of roasters. They are do a lot of fun and exciting things with the community. What more can you ask for?

I ordered a regular dark coffee with cream and the cashier just kind of looked at me oddly. Ok. And I got the chicken salad sandwich. It was fine. Not the best I have had but definitely not the worst by far. The coffee was decent. Didn’t see if the had refills or not. It’s an ok place to go to. Next time I will try a baked item and maybe a flavored coffee.

They know how to make food. They are the only shop around including cafes I have been in Chicago that knows how to brew Metropolis coffee. They are nice folks along with the fact that they collaborate with the Brewers on Broad Street to make interesting Beer. Suggestions are the pulled pork and green ice tea. Oh, don’t forget the cookies!!!

We found this place while at a wedding in Merrillville and needed breakfast. Don’t let my review rating deter you from trying it but if you expect a full service venue — this is not where to go. The establishment was quaint and eclectic. The coffee great. The menu board featured about a dozen options and you order at the counter. They were out of a couple things and I felt that it would have been in their best interest to erase those choices from the chalkboard rather than leave them and have you excited while you stand in line for 10 min(because bicyclists seem to frequent this place since it’s apparently near a bike route) only to be dashed at the counter. And any special coffee requests take quite some time but the coffee and food we did get were good.

This place is legit. We came in from the city to check out what our sister state had to offer. This place has a great coffee house feel, Metropolis coffee, interesting décor and specialty drinks. We tried lattes, a cortado, the current pour over on offer, and one of their tea infused drinks called The Queen of Thornes that was also very tasty. On the food side we tried all of the cookies, the tea snickerdoodle is something I’m still thinking about. Delicious.

So nice to finally find a nice local coffee shop in the region. There’s something on the menu for everyone from their loose leaf tea, fruit smoothies, and bold roast coffees. They have breakfast sandwiches and pastries that are also fantastic. Will definitely be coming back!

Reasonable prices and their sandwiches are really good including the chicken sammich and pulled pork. The workers there are friendly and a great place to have meetings or to get some work done.

My husband I used to live in NWI and saying we were here 3 times a week is an understatement. Some of my favorites were: –Another Princess In A Castle(sandwich special) –Eggplant Wizard(sandwich) –Curry Tofu(sandwich) –Pumpkin Queen(seasonal Pumpkin Chai Latte) –Vanilla Ice Latte –Chai Tea –Fruit Teas –Pour overs I love the alternative atmosphere, music, homemade goodies, staff is great, and(of course) drinks and food. The only thing I ever got there that I didn’t like was the Cantur. It was a little too sweet for my liking. They have plenty of activities going on there such as Socrates Café, art groups, knitting groups, etc. My husband and I miss this gem immensely. We are visiting NWI in a few weeks and this is top on our list of places to go back to!

This place is awesome. It’s very unassuming on the main stretch in Griffith but contains excellent coffee and great breakfast sandwiches. The only problem is they open at 7am, which can make it tough to get to work on time.
