I love this place!!! The food is always fresh and good. The Margaritas are delicious!!! We eat here at least twice a month.

Delicious, quality Mexican food and drinks with an unbeatable ambience! The owner Jeff is very hands-on and personable and gives astounding customer service. Authentic Mexican artifacts fill the restaurant and create an great space. The owner even travels to Mexico himself to bring back the artifacts and art that fill his restaurant. In the summer months, the outdoor patio is filled with the most colorful, beautiful exotic flowers. Sierra Station excites all the senses and I highly recommend you go see for yourself!

The best Mexican food in the area, fabulous service and first-rate Margaritas. Friendly, hands-on owner and staff. Kid friendly and fun too! If you have not been, a must– especially if you’re an east-sider.

Went last night for a last minute Cinco De Mayo dinner and drinks. It’s the closest Mexican food place with atmosphere. Been there before, but I remembered why I didn’t like it. Food does seem as if much of it comes out of the can… i.e., salsa, refried beens, nacho chips, etc. The food is not the only reason for the one star rating. We got there early, about 5pm, to beat the rush. All the staff seemed overwhelmed, even though they were not even that busy at this point. The owner was floating around helping out and chatting with people and I heard him makes several comments related to «we’re hanging in there» and«how busy it is»… As a patron, I don’t care. We waited about 20mins for a table. Here’s the timeline of our meal: –Within 5 mins we had water and chips/salsa(good) –Minutes 5 to 10: drinks(good) –Minutes 11 to 15: appetizer(good) –I waited a bit to order main dishes because they seemed to rushing delivery(smart) –Minutes 40 to 60 eating main dishes(good) –Minute 60: order another round of drinks, plates half empty at this point –Minute 61: owner comes over with 2 to-go contains and says«You look about ready»(BAD) We were like, WTF! We gave him a strange look and took the containers. He cared more about flipping our table than letting us enjoy our time out. Never, ever again.

Polarizing reviews led my husband and I to try this place out. First of all, It’s located on the very edge of Grosse Pointe; I’m surprised it’s not actually Detroit. The manager greeted us right away with menus and chips/salsa in hand as he brought us to our table. He said he would be right back with waters but never returned. The server greeted us promptly and service in general was ok but then again there were only 6 other tables seated. The food was mediocre at best. The chips were store bought and if I liked salsa, I’d suspect that was mass produced as well. We both got the Pollo en Mole(because they were out of the tamales my husband originally ordered). The chicken tasted like those frozen chicken breasted injected with brine. Not good. The mole sauce was flavorful but that’s about it. The refried beans were like a pool of running puréed mush-not attractive. Glad we tried it for ourselves but will definitely side with the undesirable reviewers and will never return again.

Good little restaurant, I was satisfied with the food although it wasn’t 5 star quality I do give a 5 star to their décor and the variety. The owner is a jokester, I love the guy but people with out much tolerance for a few light hearted pranks should stir away.

This restaurant is not in the best of neighborhoods(or at least the way I came in :)). The food was Ok. The servers we ok. The restaurant is a bit dated but for what I paid for my meal I didn’t expect much more. I would personally rather go to Mexicantown but this was ok.

Absolutely beautiful inside, very clean. Great margarita patio for the summer. Mexican themed knick/knacks adorn the walls. The food is terrible. Period. If anyone says different then they must be affiliated with Sierra station somehow. It’s nowhere even near Mexican food. Yes the salsa taste like ketchup. The chips are disgusting hard and greasy at the same time. Somehow Fajitas: bland, greasy Tacos: bland, greasy Burritos: wet bland and greasy. It’s a gem of a restaurant, please for the love of all that’s good in the world, makes some MAJOR changes. Whatever it takes, try some fresh ingredients, maybe some new cooks. Perhaps an actual chef. Re work every single item on the menu. Because they are all very very unremarkable. Oh and Ditch the nasty ketchup salsa please!

This place was phenomenal. The wait staff is so friendly and the manager is absolutely wonderful. He was so professional and absolutely made the experience great. It’s nice to have an owner who really cares about the experience and not just the income. Not to mention the food is amazing! Definitely going to keep me coming back!

First time here and have lived one this side of town most of my life… ignore the negative comments. Much cleaner then most any other Mexican restaurants on the east side. Food was deceit and did taste good & the salsa had a good bite to it. Ordered ranchero enchiladas and enjoyed it, but my boyfriend’s enchiladas verde was better ;) Staff was very friendly, service was prompt, love all the cool knick knacks displayed at the bar and old arcade games(and no spec of dust anywhere… clean!). Enjoy my experience there and will be back, and can’t wait till summer to enjoy their patio woth a margarita.

Best Mexican food on the Eastside! If you are looking for a cozy place with excellent food you found your spot. Prices are fair and the portions are more then enough per dish. Often times I need a box to bring the left overs home. An affordable children’s menu and extremely kid friendly. Even though it’s –20 below today I would be remiss not to mention their patio because in the summer the patio rocks.

My go– to mexican restuarant. Never found any place that beats it. Its nothing super fancy, but I’m very particular when it comes to my mexican, and Sierra Station never fails me. A+ every time.

I’ve never really been a fan. They deep fry virtually everything, it’s all super greasy, and it doesn’t have much flavor. Seems like a lot of it is out of a box, bag, or can. Definitely not my favorite. I like Plaza De Mexico or Azteca much better.

Not impressed by the food or the slow service. It’s just a bad sign when there are salt and pepper shakers immediately available at Mexican places. Some day I’ll learn to see them and just walk out. The waitress was nice enough and the margarita was pretty good.

Good mexican fix. I will not deny that I am somewhat of a mexican foodie/snob after living in new mexico for 7 years. This place is not authentic mexican eats, but it is the closest restaurant in the area of grosse pointe that I enjoy enough to keep going to for a wet burrito or nacho fix. They even have Rellanos(I’ve updated this review since it’s one of the things I actually love ordering from here). Cheese, seasoned beef, jalepenos, and tortilla. They have the basics, but don’t come looking for sopapillas or menudo. The portions are fairly large for an affordable family dining experience. And great retro arcade gaming at the door for us big kids! Great friendly service, family run, and consistent with the food experience in the several times I’ve been here. I’ve never had a bad experience.

If Chef Boyardee opened a Mexican restaurant… First the chips and salsa. The chips… fine…tasted homemade and well salted, nothing special, nothing great, but unfortunately they were the highlight of the meal. The salsa? Godawful horrible. Ketchup + a metallic chipotle aftertaste that only got worse after you had a few chips… which wasn’t that much of a problem, b/c I couldn’t choke down any more than a few without thinking that I’d licked the inside of a tin can. The meals? Mindnumbingly bad. My chicken enchilada was made with 100% breast meat that tasted like a Tyson food service product. Completely dried out and completely immersed in tasteless cheese that did nothing but sort of add moisture to the dried out sponge that was my dinner. The refried beans were straight out of a can and the mexican rice was cold and flavorless. My wife had the enchiladas verde with one chicken, one cheese and one beef. Also horrible and enough cheese on the plate to ensure Wisconsin dairy farmers ample market share for the next few months. The chicken was more Tyson food service tasteless breast meat, the cheese one was greasier than than a Quick Lube and the beef in the beef enchilada was at least 3 – 4 days old. Honestly, this was the worst Mexican meal I’ve ever had in my life and I’d rather eat at Del Taco where at least they’ve heard of cilantro and they don’t cram .5 pounds of dried out food service breast meat into any dish that has chicken in it. Stay away. Stay very far away.

Okay, two point five reasons to go to this restaurant. 1. $ 2 margaritas on Thursday. As another reviewer already mentioned, they are potent and they get the job done. 2. The affordable, creative menu Just like many Mexican restaurants, you get a lot of cheese over whatever you order and you get refried beans, shredded lettuce and what not. READ: nothing special. They do have dishes that aren’t loaded with cheese, but the coolest thing is they have interesting items like the almond chicken burrito. What the heck? Is the head chef Chinese-American? I am still trying to understand the what, why and the WHY, but it is pretty tasty and a welcomed change to standard Mexican fare. 2.5 You live around the corner from the place. For the reasons above, I am more than appreciative of this place. I can overindulge in Mexican cheesy goodness and imbibe. WIN!

Since we were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary, we figured our marriage was now old enough to drink! So, heading out to the Sierra Station for food and libations made perfect sense. This place has been around for a while and they still know how to make great Mexican food and serve up a potent margarita. The service is always friendly and efficient. I highly recommend the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo(Shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and beans): fresh, big, deveined shrimps with a garlic kick. Finish it off with the flan or the huge strawberry shortcake and you won’t be disappointed. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. There was no music piped in to compete with the conversations; just the low, inaudible murmurings of the televisions behind the bar. We were a little put off by the outdoor seating being closed for whatever reason. Also, I cringed when our waitress repeated my inquiry about the«flan» with her nasally, Midwestern pronunciation of the item.
