Can’t say enough great things about this shop and it’s people. I was unsure about the type of bike I was after– comfort vs hybrid, I was given the chance to test ride a few different bikes all while having my questions answered– nicest guy to deal with! I ended up buying a comfort bike and while it was getting a look over before I left the store with it I test rode an E-bike. Fun stuff right there. I couldn’t be happier with my new Trek, worth every penny– and as a veteran I was given 10% off. I’ve had not one problems as the bike was ‘fitted’ and adjusted to me and looked over BEFORE I left. I also can bring it in at any time for a year to have it checked/fixed as part of the sale. Highly recommend this bike shop. Sure you can buy a less expensive bike at wal mart or a sporting goods store but you get what you pay for. Zero product support from those other stores– with American Cycle and Fitness you are part of the family. :)

Good place. Never seen the cat in the shop though. I saw the litter box behind the counter, but not the cat. Maybe next time I go back I can see the cat and pet the cat.

Bad service and way over priced. They were charging ridiculous amounts to repair spokes on my Step Dad’s wheel chair, and they refused to repair the last set we brought in. We brought the same rim to Bikes Blades and Boards right down the street, and they fixed the wheel same day, no questions asked, and did it for a lot cheaper than what American was charging. I won’t come back to American Cycle and Fitness. American Cycle and Fitness sucks. They take forever to fix the most trivial repairs, they charge through the nose, and then they act like they’re doing you a favor. Do yourself a favor and give Bikes, Blades and Boards a try. They’re right down the street, they do a much better job, for less money, and they’re a lot nicer about it.

Not sure why this store has been given bad reviews in the past but, they have some great people working there. I have found them most helpful and educated. I think the old staff may be the reason for the previous old and bad reviews.

This is by far the worst bike shopping metro Detroit. I been to over 6 bike shops in the last month and was shocked by how awful the service was. Not only do they not know their products, they are rude, and do not deliver on promises. They promised a bike but ordered the wrong one. They said the bike was ready for pick up but it was not built. They then said they would call when it was ready and never did. I recommend any other bike shop than this one. There are several in the Grosse Point area all provide better service.

Most of the bikes are overpriced and mass produced in China. The salesperson is only interested in making a sale, and not what best fits your needs. Bike service is not reliably effective.

Looking for that next level bike shop? You know, the one with jerseys and expensive bikes? Yep, this is the place. All the«big» brands of bikes and gear. In fact, when I needed a new carrier for my car, this was the place that had it in stock. Their real strength, I think, is not their selection, but their willingness to go the extra mile. I’m used to the«average Joe» shops doing that. For some reason though, the«upscale» places seem to be less inclined. Not Pointe Cycle and Fitness. For example, I purchased an item that was going on sale in the coming weeks. The salesperson told me to come back on a certain date and they would give me the sale price-on an item I had already paid for. I went back, and just as I was told, they honored the sale price! Sweet! Haven’t tried their service department yet, but the sales staff is helpful and they have items I haven’t seen in other shops.
