From the very first time I shopped at this store I fell in love with the level of service I received from every single person that works in this store including the owner. Doesn’t matter if I’m spending $ 10 or $ 200 the level of service is unmatched by any other wine store in the area. The manager remembered my name after only one visit. Christina is phenomenal at recommending wine and her brother is the bomb with selecting craft beers. Not one time have I been disappointed. They have even ordered things for me they don’t normally stock and have called me as soon as it arrived. I can’t ask for a better experience!!!

Convenient(very easy to park in their free parking lot in back) and always — always — has what you need. When I looked longingly at the(extensive) wine section, but told Bill the owner that I was«giving it up» due to bad headaches he introduced me to Malbec. That was years ago — — and he was right! Part sommelier, part Doctor! My husband and I are also beer snobs, and they not only stock our favorites(Pirat — and Chimay, Blue Point Toasted Lager, etc.), but are always willing to share a good«hey, you know what you might like» every so often. 98.63% of the time they’re right. Having a party? Four years in a row I gave them a budget, the number of people, and a date to have it all ready. Four years in a row they made my role«stocking» my 100−200-person company party(with beer & wine) absolutely worry-free and wonderfully received. I checked the pricing compared to Costco, etc — and they outdid them… plus no shopping for me! Yay me! As with several of my reviews I had to wait to get multiple years of experience under my belt before I put one out there. Over the past several years they’ve also remodeled and now it’s not only a convenient place to get what you want but a really nice place to go into and shop. They’d better never add appetizers. .. I might never leave!

Every single time I go in here, I have a lousy experience. The service — if you’re not a regular — is downright insulting. I have stood with no offers for help, asked for assistance and been put off only for someone who walks in the door after me. Never. Never again. Sorry I don’t buy my booze by the caseload so you’all know me. I can buy wine elsewhere.

Very friendly family run business. They only hire very knowledgable workers who are more that happy to help you find exactly what you need. They are my go-to for craft beers, very nice selection of chilled and non-chilled brews. Keep up the good work!

I really like the setup of the shop. It is well lit, clean and inviting. They have a great selection of local Michigan beer and wine, including a nice mix of L Mawby, my favorite regional sparkling producer. I had a nice conversation with the owner and when I asked about a few items that I didn’t see he was more than happy to order them for me without me having to commit to buying the minimum order amount he was held to, even if I just wanted one. To Recap: The Good: I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of wines offered and a nice of mix of price points as well. The support of Michigan breweries and wineries was also a nice touch. The hard liquor selection was impressive and if they don’t have it, they will order it, great customer service. The Bad: There isn’t a ton of refrigeration space and it tends to be stocked with more of the high volume stuff, which I understand, but it would be cool to have a cooler dedicated to some local or harder to find brews. The Band This Establishment Most Resembles: Faces. Whenever I went there, I «had me a real good time.»

Rude Rude Rude, there are WAY better places to go in Grosse Pointe than this place.

I’m new to the Grosse Pointe area and needed to find a liquor store(preferably family run) somewhere close by where I could get Angostura Bitters — a rare product from Trinidad that I was quite sure I wouldn’t be able to find in Michigan. Admittedly, there were closer liquor stores to my house than Woods Wholesale Wine, but I had heard great things about them from friends and checked out their reviews on Unilocal — so I decided to drive the extra 15 minutes and give them a try. What everyone says in the previous reviews are correct — they have a great selection, friendly staff, and I was able to find my bitters to make my special Trini eggnog for my new Michigan friends!(which they very much enjoyed) Definitely worth the extra effort. I will be back. :D

Great international wine selection, as well as some home-grown Michigan wines. But the scotch selections are the absolute best. A scotch lovers dream. Add to that a respectable beer inventory and a helpful staff all equals an enjoyable shopping experience.

Awesome family owned joint with a huge selection, and workers who couldn’t be friendlier. Recently was in there for the first time, and definitely will go back again for all my wine/liquor buying needs. They were even able to help me in shipping a bottle of specialized local vodka to a buddy in Atlanta — and didn’t even gouge me on the shipping fee. :) If only all businesses were as cool as this one. :)

I love supporting local business and this place is one of the best family owned places I know of. The staff is so knowledgeable. They have never led me a stray with any wine recommendation and their prices can’t be beat. They introduced me to my most favorite Pinot Grigio at $ 9/bottle…McManis and I will be forever grateful!!! They do only take cash, debit or check. So plan ahead.
