Artesano is a little bit off the beaten tourist path but it is definitely worth the trip. For $ 5 per person, we had a tasting of our choice of six meads and a tour of the area where they make the mead. The staff was knowledgable and friendly. This is a small business run by people who obviously give a lot of thought and care to their product and it shows. The products are all made from local Vermont products. The mead was delicious and relatively dry, not cloyingly sweet as I had expected. Our favorite two were the sparkling cranberry mead and the oak barrel aged mead. The bottles are in the range of about $ 20 each. They also have ice cream that they make themselves on a regular basis, which is a nice way to stretch out your visit, especially if you are waiting for your buzz to go away before driving. The maple ice cream I had was delicious, way better than Ben and Jerry’s.

We knew very little about mead and really enjoyed sampling different flavors and taking a tour! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly! My favorite flavor was the chili and cinnamon! Definitely bringing some home!

Had a great time visiting Artesano Mead and Ice Cream in Groton! The owner was very friendly, and walked us through a tasting of variety of their meads — they have a great variety, and all were delicious. She gave us a tour of their production facility while we enjoyed their ice cream. The shop also features lots of interesting local crafts, jewelry, etc. Will definitely be back for more mead the next time I’m in town!

We came in right when they opened. We were greeted warmly by Mark, the owner and mead-maker. He told us a little bit about what they do and turned our tasting over to Lisa, who does tastings and many other things around the facility. She brought us through a reasonably priced tasting of their meads, which were delicious. We had our favorites, of course, but everything was pretty good. About halfway through, Mark brought us into the back to show us all of the tanks and operational equipment, and described the process to us, as well as fielding all of our questions and just generally being a nice guy. This place is Mark’s baby and he is super proud of it, as one should be! Like many Vermonters, he uses fruit and honey exclusively from local growers/apiaries as well as using the leftover material to make vinegar. Everyone was friendly and welcoming! We’ll probably swing by again next time we’re in Vermont, and I recommend you do the same!

Great ice cream. Good place to bring kids as they have an indoor see through bee hive inside the building. For a few dollars adults can taste all selections of the Mead they produce in house. Great operation and a cool place to visit if in the VT area.
