We were up in the mountains and found this spot to be nice and warm. The food was delicious and the staff were very kind and friendly.

This restaurant used to be known as PJ’s which in the past 10 years was just awful. It was recently sold and has become Ellie’s. We have eaten breakfast there twice in the past month and just loved the food and service. Ellie is very friendly and thank us for coming back to see her. I have heard from others who have recently eaten lunch there and were also impressed. Give Ellie’s a try, it is not what is was the last time you went!

Stopped by today after hiking up in the mountains and was not disappointed. Had the BLT with a side salad and onion rings. The bacon was crispy and juicy and the onion rings were great! The service was a little slow, but not horrible at all. The bathroom wasn’t gross, but was just average. Staff was nice and no real complaints about her(younger white woman with hair put-up.) Would definitely try this place again.

This is now Elle’s — not PJ’s !! Second visit in 2 days: had large pepperoni pizza yesterday & took home 3 large pieces(but hubby had a great salad first). I LOVED my Cobb Salad tonight !! Hubby had fish & chips(Frz fish, but good), son had chicken fingers he liked. Much better than hamburgers for lunch yesterday at restaurant next to Yosemite Westgate Lodge.

So this restaurant should be closed for good. I live near there and the«new» owner as she calls herself, has no idea how to run a restaurant. I myself have ben in the kitchen numerous times and they don’t even clean the stove. Once they had to call gas company because stove wouldn’t lite… lol…If the so called cook which looks like a convict, would clean the grease trap, it may light… And yes the service is aweful, I had a burger last time and come to find out it was deep fried! Who does that? They have a room in the back w clothes layer out for sale, it was very suspicious. I sure hope the health department checks it out soon because someone is going to get sick!!! And they open and close whenever they want. Nasty food, rude employees and just bad! Would not recommend at all!

Nothing changed from the last owners. Food mediocre and they charge for a glass of water blaming the drought. Too bad as the location is prime and so is the opportunity.

I just ate here, and we waited 15 minutes to be greeted. Coffee took another ten minutes. Our waitress was clearing other tables before even setting down our drinks. Food is alright, but it took 30 min to come out. They charge for water, and I had to ask for my coffee to be refilled every time. We had 7 people in our group, and we got an 18% tip added on, which is WHY i’m assuming she didnt pay attention to us. She also got our check wrong and tried to add more food than we purchased, thinking we wouldnt notice because on the receipt it doenst even have the items we purchased, only prices. a younger mexican lady was our server, on 7÷9÷15, aroun

this is the single worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. They CHARGE for tap water, the bathroom is DISGUSTING, the servicepeople are rude as hell, and the food is terrible. I would sooner eat roadkill or starve on the side of the road than eat at this restaurant again.

If you’re leaving Yosemite and looking for a good restaurant, do yourself a favor and keep driving. This place has the distinction of being one of the first places you’ll encounter on your way out of the park, but there are plenty of better places further along 120. Service is slow and inattentive. We waited forever to get our order taken, and there wasn’t any sense of urgency from the waiter. The food itself is a joke. Their«San Francisco» burger consisted of a sad little burger between two slices of bread(not even buns), a tomato and fatty, undercooked bacon(which they forgot to put in). Tip of the hat to the waitress(not our original waiter) who apologized and saw to it that they fixed my order. My fiancé got the chicken sandwich which she thought was decent, but nothing to write home about. And as many Unilocalers note, they do indeed charge for tap water… All this to say, if you want a great«re-entry» meal, look elsewhere.

We ate at PJ’s twice during our trip to Yosemite. We had an excellent lunch, and a great breakfast. I understand they are under new management and have stepped up their game. Highly recommended.

Great burger. Nice, fast, clean stop on the way to Yosemite. Plus, this way the first bathroom stop for a while.

Start with tap water at a cost of $ 1.00 and we don’t serve dcaf coffee and it all goes down from that point. Rude– poor service — - over priced. Other than that it is fine. E.B.

Deck & restrooms Closed for renovations. Hours can be sporadic sometimes. Pizza is No longer on the menu although advertising signs say ‘& Pizza’. Staffing seems to be short under new management. Hopefully things will pickup.

«Under new management Southern Comfort Food». ??? The menu has not changed. Went last week to try out«new» menu. This restaurant has changed owners and management the past few years, but not improved. First of all the menu was dirty, which is a huge turn-off. The salads were okay and hamburger so-so. The bun practically disintegrated, which made a mess. I don’t like eating a hamburger with a knife and fork. Go to Priest Station for a better meal.

We loved our breakfast burrito and w’re glad we decided to split it as it was as big as my thigh. Friendly service even though they were super busy!

Friendly staff — good food — prices are fair — and the café itself is pretty awesome. 4⁄5 simply because the menu selection wasn’t as great as it could have been, but maybe that’s just the reality of being in a small town.

Comida malísima. Todo quemado y bañado en salsa barbacoa para disimularlo. Lo único bueno era el WiFi gratis. El local es una birria y el baño se cae a pedazos.

I walked through the door and the employee promptly advised that they aren’t serving pizza… Uh, okay… but it does say pizzeria on the big sign outside. I sit on their rear deck, outdoor seating. An employee walks up and advised that the outside seating is closed… Uh okay… but the restaurant is not huge by any stretch of the imagination… So I walk 5 feet, to the 1st table inside the door. I order a side salad with blue cheese dressing. A few minutes later, an employee advised me that they had no blue cheese dressing. Strike Three! I had a side salad with cranberry vinaigrette dressing, it was average. I had a San Francisco Sandwich. It’s an average, previously frozen beef patty with Swiss cheese and bacon, wedged between two pieces of grilled sour dough bread. It was average and not very appealing looking. It came with fries. The iced tea was fresh brewed and really the only highlight of the entire experience. I would not recommend PJ’s and I will be skipping it on my future visits to Groveland.

Agree with most of the other posts. We’ve eaten here plenty of times over the years and the food is just OK. Straight off the cysco restaurant service truck. If you are in town though and want an OK burger or basic pizza, it’s an OK place to stop. Thank goodness they took down the stupid Chinese food sign. We never saw them actually serve that special anyway. Service is very mixed. Some staff attentive others just flat rude and made us want to leave.

Wifi is here! Whether you want breakfast lunch or dinner PJ’s will be able to take care of you and your family for a great price. I rate the food and price as a 3.5 star experience, rounded up and plus 1 star for Wifi which is hugely important for Groveland, an area still known for its spotty cell reception. Im actually writing this review as I sit here. Huge bonus for me. I haven’t tried the Pizza here yet but im sure its good as well. There is something about Pizza places in the mountains that just takes so much better than in the bay or the valley. Groveland is great and has 3 mom and pop style Pizza places. This is just the last one I haven’t tried yet. I had the Blue Burger with salad. It was delicious.

Posted to the wrong place, so here is my «5÷3÷2013» review. After camping at house keeping village for a few days, my friend and I were on our way home. We were leaving bright and early and decided to stop in for breakfast. We walked in and were told to sit wherever. We found a seat, and were promptly served water. The menu has a lot of options. Most lunch /pizza /burgers stuff are only available after 11am. I got an omelet for something like 11 dollars. It came with hashbrowns and toast. The omelet itself was a bit small, but I guess if you’re at yosemite, you can probably expect to pay a little bit more. My friend got country fried steak which was also pretty good. Comes with 2 eggs and toast. Note on the service… it is terribly slow. The waitress was nice, but when there’s nobody in your shop, you can glance over at your two customers every once in a while. Check coffee /water levels… Anyway, so overall, the food wasn’t bad. There’s a good amount of room to sit. Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but still fairly reasonable.
