This place is now called Oso Hostel. How do I know? I was outside Macy’s Union Square in SF today when a guy offered me a flyer for Oso Hostel. When I said no thank you, and went on my way, he threw it at the back of my head. Way to advertise. According to their Facbeook page — yes, from the flyer, which I picked up off the ground — they now have a new name and new owners, as well as «an improved customer friendly management philosophy.» Evidently.

A group of us stayed at Ederbickems Hostel the next before we summited Half Dome during Labor Day weekend. All the campsites were reserved due to the busy holiday weekend and we didn’t want to stay at Curry Village in Yosemite due to the hantavirus scare. This was a decent place and actually my first hostel experience. I felt like I was back in college during the good ol’ dorm days. There was a lot of international people staying at the hostel which was pretty cool but due to the atmosphere a lot of people did not go to sleep until really really late. I usually wouldn’t have minded but I wanted to get some shut eye since we had to wake up early to make our trek. This place was about 1 hour away or 25 miles outside to one of the entrances into Yosemite National Park. If you want to check out Yosemite and everything is booked up then I recommend checking this spot out. Ederbickems Hostel is located in Groveland, CA and it is on the way to Yosemite. We even stopped back into town after we were done hiking to grab a bite to eat because it was on the way back home.

The owners are so cool and laid back, the facilities are awesome and brand new, and people from all over the world are always staying here so it’s a perfect spot to meet interesting people. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice and fun place to stay.
