People make fun of Groveport. They call it Grovetucky. They say that there is nothing here. And they’d be right. But its still a nice place to call home. I’ve grown up here, my parents are still here, and I always find myself coming back. Its one of those towns where everyone knows everyone and you can’t walk down the street without someone stopping and offering you a ride. Granted, there isn’t much here. But that’s what makes it nice. This is the place you come to get away from the hectic pace of the rest of your life. This is not where you want to live if you are young and single. Rather this is where you raise your family. This is where you buy a house and settle down. Even though its small, there is still a lot of proud history here. It was founded by John Rarey, the original ‘horse whisperer’ from whom the town’s and school’s mascot, Cruiser, came from. Cruiser was a horse considered wild until Rarey tamed him. The village was also home to a brick factory and so many of the early buildings are lovely brick and some of the street are also the original brick. You can go down one of the side streets and see the tracks left from the cable cars that connected Columbus with the suburbs. If you want something a bit more modern and entertaining, head over here in the summer to the Water Park. Its slides, lazy river, and diving boards are a summer time dream!
