7÷26÷2013 I went to a public 12 step meeting at Casa Solana I with my Service Dog who was wearing her Service Dog ID cape. Part way through the meeting I got up to get a cup of coffee. A woman told me I would have to leave because dogs were not allowed in the house. I told her it was a Service Dog and pointed out her cape. She asked if I had ID papers. I told her it was illegal to ask for ID papers and she asked who made it illegal. I told her it was the Americans with Disabilities Act that guarantied people like me, with disabilities, to not carry paperwork everywhere, to prove our dogs were indeed Service Dogs. She said she was the director of the facility and it didn’t matter anyway, even Service Dogs were not allowed. I told her it was a public meeting and she said it didn’t matter– get the dog out. I went around the corner to tell my roommate what happened and when I turned around the woman, who I learned later was named Rosie, was standing right on my heel. I bumped into her and she squealed I pushed her. I could not avoid her she was right on me. When I got into my car and pulled into the driveway to tell her I was going to alert the Department of Justice and this was a $ 50,000 offense she said she asked me to leave because I PUSHED her, not because of the DOG. If you need treatment– this is NOT the place to go for kindness and truth. This director has serious issues that can be harmful to someone in a delicate condition. If you are considering going to Casa Solana I or II please call and make sure this person has been removed from their employment before you go– you don’t need a bully as part of your recovery team and one who will lie at your expense.
