Moved up to Clinton summer 2012 family living in Guildford we went to the Guilford hair in the summer of the past two summers. It was a blast II with the petting zoo and the circus performers for the kids. Lots of vendors selling everything from sunglasses, pocket books, jewelry, clothing to home baked goods all natural jellies, Jan, preserves and honey. I actually was even able to register to vote in the state of Connecticut while I was there. They had a music tent and so many food trucks and vendors in one place it was so hard to shoes thank goodness there were so many of us to buy different meals and treats to taste and share. I had the absolute best chicken gyro I’ve ever had in Connecticut I have no idea you made it and sold it but since living here I can’t seem to find any good Greek food anywhere! The closest I’ve come is this past week I was in Milford at the Athenian III Diner got the chicken Slovakia nice taste of chicken with red onion instead of white came with french fries that I didn’t really eat and a huge Greek salad I dumped the Greek salad on top of the Peter and the chicken and the tomatoes and used their homemade dressing and the key and that would be the second best besides the shoreline diner in Guildford makes a phenomenal Greek rap but its not A gyro!

I have to keep in mind that this review should be on the venue(Guilford Fair Grounds), not the activity(Taste of the Shore). So let me focus on the venue to start things off. The Guilford Fair Grounds are pretty easy to get to, Ya gotta love it’s street address– Lovers Lane! It’s kind of in the middle of I-95, Route 1, and Route 146. It has tons of free parking in a grassy field close to the entrance. The grounds itself are pretty spacious, but not overly gigantic, like the Big E Fair Grounds in West Springfield. The sound stage was located off to the side — it had great sound(I head a lot of the Stones and Steely Dan today) and lots of room for blankets or lawn chairs. The bathrooms are in a concrete block building to the right of the stage. The bathrooms are big enough to accommodate the big crowds. So all in all, what more can you ask for? The grounds are great– so it’s up to the individual content of each event to use the grounds to full advantage. Today we attended the Taste of the Shoreline at the Fair Grounds. It’s fair(no pun intended) to say we were disappointed. Not enough food choices. ZERO seafood choices. Let me repeat, the Taste of the Shoreline had no seafood! No fried clams, no lobster rolls, no scallops, no nothing. So what did they have for food? Pizza, BBQ, and amazingly enough Three Thai stands. Dessert stands included Italian ices and a Good Humor Ice Cream truck. One vendor was selling lobster mac and cheese(excellent) so that’s the closest we came to finding a crustacean today at an event called«Taste of the Shoreline», What shoreline was that? The Gulf of Thailand? There was also a Beer-Wine tent that accumulated a huge snail-paced line — one person taking the orders who then stood and waited for person # 2 to fill the order, before person # 1 tended to the next customer. It was ridiculous. At least the facilities were very nice.
