Vannoy’s Tires

Can I give less than 1 star…
I have been going to vannoys for years. Years. Since was 18 and I now 36. I’ve had not so great experiences in the past, but they were always addressed and handled immediately. Overall, the history has been great — otherwise I wouldn’t be a return customer for all those years.
Until today. Today marks a point where I’m looking for another everyday car company. My tires. My oil. The normal stuff I trusted you guys with. Today that became a horrible experience.
I’m currently living in gulf breeze. Over the past year I’ve taken mine as well as my husbands cars to you for oils changes and tire rotation. Never once having a questionable experience. Until today. Today we drop my Honda off for a routine oil change and tire rotation. The guys say «we are busy — it may be a couple of hours.» No worries. We leave my car and go home, thinking we will pick my car up and drop my husbands off. We do just that. When we pick up my car and drop his off I am shocked. I open my car door — light grey interior mind you– to find it covered in black oil. Everywhere. My husband goes in and let’s the guy up front know about it and the guy immediately starts mumbling and having an attitude. He is picking up supplies and pushing though doors with an obvious attitude. I see the guy come outside and immediately know he’s ticked. He pushes the door outside with such force it was unmistakable. First thing he said to me «I didn’t do this.» He hasn’t even looked at my car BUT he didn’t do this. He then opens my driver side and said «this is going to be a great freaking day» then goes on to say «I didn’t do this» again and again. I said «ummm then who did? I work at a bank. I don’t have any reason to cover my car in black oil and blame you.» He said «we don’t touch the passanger seat at all. Ever.» I said «ok but someone did today. They clearly had to get the tire lock out of the glove compartment and went through the passager seat.» He again said «no I didn’t do this» irritated I let him know that clearly HE didn’t as HE was me covered I oil BUT someone in HIS shop did and so it was HIS responsibility since he said he was the manager. He was yelling and saying countless times he was «fixing it but it wasn’t him»
I’m highly disappointed and I can’t believe your managers are allowed to act this way. If he can’t handle and upset customer then you clearly have the wrong man on staff. Anyone making a car payment doesn’t want their car ruined by oil. Pay attention to what you do. Mistakes happen — own them. Needless to say we did not leave my husbands car. We took it to Walmart. Not the preferred place– but he needed an oil change today. We will be looking at your competitors now.

Went in for a Front end alignment because I was having so much problems with my car. Turns out it was not an alignment problem at all, it was my tire. They said it was unravelling and I needed to go back to the company I bought it from. They were so nice and they didn’t even charge me I’m definitely going back there.

I am not sure if they are a national chain, or just a small chain with all local locations. I know they have a few around here.
They have nice, helpful people. Although, could be a little nicer. And I don’t mean that because they are not friendly at all. They could just use a little more pep. That probably would’ve given them a 5-​star in my book. But all in all, the service was quick, it was efficient. And I’m very satisfied.
The prices are also affordable. We had our brakes replaced and fluid flushed. I saved over $ 200 compared to the 2 bigger national chains down the street. And quality was not compromised. I will definitely be back.

Purchased 4 prepaid oil changes. It said by appointment only but you can’t make appointments. So I woke up and schlepped over early Friday morning and was told they were full at 8am but to try back on a Wednesday because that’s a slower day. Went back Wednesday and they again were «full». Now I have to get my oil changed and have a prepaid thing that I can’t use. I’m tired of driving 30minutes early in the morning for nothing! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone for oil changes! I got ripped off by this prepaid thing.

ATTENTION MILITARY!!! I am active military and received orders to Jacksonville fl. So to prevent any car trouble I had preventive maintenance done to my truck at vannoys on Michigan Ave. A month later when it was time for me to take my truck to Jacksonville my tire almost came off right before I got on interstate 10 thank god I decided to go have it checked instead of driving would have killed me and my 6 year old. When I got to vannoys the one on 9 mile road they informed me that the vannoys on Michigan had messed up and I would not be able to drop my truck off in Jacksonville putting me in a huge bind. Doing so much business there the past few years I didn’t get mad and start yelling I had faith they would correct there mistake and find a way for my vehicle to get to Jacksonville boy was I wrong. When I returned from Jacksonville Tim from Michigan ave vannoys told me they had to get me 4 new rims because my old ones were no longer available I had to take time from loading the uhaul truck to go pick from the rims he felt my rims were worth i know the ones I got now are not as valuable as my old one. But what ever I had a house to pack up and load with just me and my wife so once it was time to me to go I had to get some documents from my truck I asked Tim if they could help me get my truck to me in Jacksonville since their mistake prevented me from having it there in storage. Instead of fixing what they have caused he was thinking of ways for me to fix the problem like pull it behind the uhaul which I couldn’t do because I already had a full trailer being pulled. I even offered to drive it myself if they would get me a plane ticket just to get back so i could have my vehicle to get to work. He said the owner would not do that I told him I don’t care how they get it there I just need it don’t care if they have it towed or drive it I just have to have a way to get to work and if you are military you defiantly understand. He then said he would drive it if he had to and I told him I would not want him to have to do that but would accept it. So once I got to Jacksonville I called Tim and he said he spoke to the owner and she did not care that there mistake put me in the situation of not having a vehicle in Jacksonville that I needed to get it. And he said he was just being audacious. After 2 days of trying to contact the owner I finally did explained to her what happened and she did not care she wasn’t mad about the burden her shop had caused on me and my family she just kept trying to find ways for me to fix their mistake by me coming to get it. I eventually had to give in and have my wife drive me back putting my wife and 2 kids and dog through another 14 hours of driving. Pensacola is a military town and has a lot of junior personnel who would be financially devastated if this was to happen to them. It hurt my family financially but could hurt others a lot more don’t risk having your vehicle break down because of their lack of professionalism!

Don’t go here if you need a tire repaired. They will not touch it unless it is less than 5 years old. They did provide me with a list of other places to take it and we’re helpful in that regard.

After receiving an outrageous estimate for a long list of things that needed to be done to my car at the Kia dealership, I stopped by Vannoy’s to get a second option. Manager Scott Magee was awesome and he went over the previous quote in detail and discussed my options. For example, he explained that unless there was a build up, a coolant flush wasn’t really necessary and that replacing the fluids would be sufficient. He saved $ 200 on brake pads alone! Every step in the repair process, a mechanic would come discuss my options and candidly advise me of the course of action they would take. Oh, and if there is anything that Vannoy’s can’t repair, just ask and they can refer you to someone else who can.
It’s nice to find a business who isn’t trying to gouge you out of every penny!
