Ugh I was so excited to try this place since it’s our 4th year and I’ve been wanting to find a new spot to add to our tradition. While I’m not sure we won’t come back, I wasn’t completely impressed. I ordered a Bloody Mary, the waitress brought me a margarita. She did switch it out pretty quickly and it was really good when I did finally get it. Probably couldn’t have had more than one because it was pretty strong! I ordered the shrimp and grits platter and they brought me the blackened shrimp platter. WRONGAGAIN! Again, they brought me the correct order pretty quickly but I’m pretty sure the grits weren’t cooked. They tasted like seashells ground up in a blender. No joke! I’ve never had bad grits and these made me gag! I’m only giving two stars because the rest of my family really enjoyed their meals but wanted to make sure to give feedback on the grits because other reviews claim they were so good… but hey were horrible!

Just ordered drinks. Tried loaded Bloody Mary which was a fun drink. Also tried the shrimp raviens which was really good. We happened to be the only people in the restaurant at 4 pm on Sunday, so service was quick and staff was friendly. Overall good experience and would recommend to anyone in the area.

So let me start with saying overall this place was an enjoyable place to eat. The prices were not too, but they did not go overboard. The food was descent, I decided to get some shrimp, I felt it was a little too lightly seasoned but it was still very satisfying. But I did expect a little more from the food than what I got cause we waited quite a while, I would say about 40 minutes. But the wait just before getting seated was great! They had ping pong beneath the deck and many other games to keep yourself ot your little ones entertained. But at the end of the day I gave it 4 stars even though it may not have sounded like it in my review.

We showed up at 645 with a party of 9 and were told a wait of an hour and a half. Given it was peak season, we agreed the wait was appropriate. 30 minutes later, a table of 9 was freed up, yet our name was not called. We gave it 15 more minutes, and yet our name was still not called. At this point, our wait was now increased until 915ATTHEEARLIEST… for no given reason. We mentioned the free table of 9 that would satisfy our party was available and the snarky hostess said«it’s not about the tables, it’s about the service» a mother and her daughter got turned away for an hour 15 minutes for a table for two… yet half the restaurant was empty. Our only question was, if you’re trying to provide«good service» then how do you not have enough servers during a Sunday night during peak season? We will not be returning to this location.

Fantastic experience! All of our food was delicious and our waitress Jennifer was AMAZING! The place is clean, friendly, and fun. The food was perfectly seasoned and great portion size! One of my new favorite restaurants! It is locally owned and really well run!

Giving a two star based on my higher expectations I walked into here with. We were seated fairly quickly. At 2, they aren’t to busy. Ordered a house Bloody Mary… Very strong, beware. I am unable to even drink it. Had the Blue Crab Cheesecake as an appetizer and it was a total tease. It was DELICIOUS. Followed by a ‘blackened’ shrimp salad that was a total disappointment. The shrimp were obviously not ‘blackened’ and had 0 flavor. We spend a lot of time vacationing here throughout the year, so we’ve tried many local restaurants. This was our first and last time here. I’ve had better luck and the smaller end simple shacks here.

Negatives: Extremely understaffed on this particular Thursday evening. It’s frustrating to wait an hour for a table when half of the tables inside are empty. Especially arriving at a restaurant at 7:45pm. And then we had to wait another hour for our food. One member of our party was missing bacon on a sand which, one member had cold sides, my steak and potatoes were a bit too salty for my taste. Interior temperature was so cold it made it hard to enjoy. Mixed vibes from the fun, beach atmosphere with outdoor seating and casual interior booths. Then a prime rib will cost you $ 30. Positives: They do have fun games for children and adults while waiting. Staff was very friendly. Food was GREAT when everything was correct. Amazing gelato and dessert options.

First, pricey. It’s got a casual feel and look and so the prices come as a bit of a surprise. I saw a poor guy sit down with his wife and 3 kids. He took a look at the menu and said, «Ok, everybody’s drinking water.» I had the coconut shrimp appetizer. Every restaurant in this town has coconut shrimp. This is not fried, is spicy, and I thought the flavors just didn’t blend well. Also had a cup of corn & crab chowder. It was ok, but not special. Good service. Food came out fast.

The interior was«fancy» but the clothes ranged from beach to formal casual. The outside was awesome, plenty of seating and underneath the building was additional seating and games. We got the Mac-n-cheese balls, the only thing making these good were the sauce it came with. The balls themselves were dry. I got the blackened shrimp basket and their fries were amazing! Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The blackened shrimp was ok but the aftertaste was weird and chemically. The fried shrimp was good if you’re getting shrimp. The market fish looked awesome but was out of our price range. In our party everyone said the burger was amazing!

Bill responded to my last review, which is actually a nice touch. It is good to have a dialogue with the stakeholders in the business under review. I am happy to apologize regarding my comments on the Old Fashioned if that is what the customer ordered. Way to keep up with what your clientele want on a busy morning! I want to reiterate that I enjoyed both my visits enough to go two days in a row. I even told my wife I look forward to bringing my family during the off season. I was really surprised to be treated as hostile by Bill on Unilocal because of what I felt was a fair and honest review of what I attempted to watch objectively.

A great eatery on the beach in Gulf Shores. Chef Jon Gibson is creating a varied and interesting menu… the food is top quality and very good service to boot. Organic green in the salads. Sharing the Bill Burger.

Jennifer is THE waitress to ask for. She’s such a sweetheart and made sure everything came out correctly and that we were satisfied. She had worked a double and was still a rockstar. Definitely recommend!

The best part was their bushwhacker which was really good. But honestly the rest of our meal was very average. Nothing memorable or particularly tasty. I wouldn’t choose to come back.

Started my meal with a cup of the corn crab bisque. The corn wasn’t cooked and the crab meat was dark with a different taste. It wasn’t a nice thick bisque so it was sent back. Dinner was the pork chop. The chorizo cream corn was really good. The sweet potato spears were delicious. Unfortunately the pork chop was overcooked and very salty. I shared some with my friend and he couldn’t eat it because it was so salty. Disappointing flavoring. Portions were perfect

Thought I’d give this place a try and I’m so glad I did. Food was on point !!! SO good! I will be back. Everyone at our table has raved about the food and drinks here since we’ve been. All of it was great! Best meal so far. Service was also excellent. We had Amanda and if we go back I will definitely request her! & you should to. She took great care of us and had a great personality so it was a WINWIN.

If you are like me then you hate eating at touristy restaurants at the beach because we all know the food there is of the lowest quality and gross. That being said, I ate at 5 restaurants when I stayed in gulf shores and this was the best one by far. They actually seem to care about the quality of the food they are serving. The shrimp and grits were the best I had in gulf shores and the mimosas were also killer. 5 out of 5 because this was the only place at the beach I didn’t believe I wasted my money at because the food was actually good.

What a jewel of a place we discovered in Gulf Shores. Easily the best steak I’ve had in Baldwin county. The 16 oz ribeye is herb coated and plated on truffle potatoes and mushrooms. The filet was tender with an espresso and port glaze and plated with asparagus and finger potatoes. Just spectacular. Also, don’t miss the beignets!

Bill’s has a great view of the water and the inside and décor is top notch. Plenty of room for large groups and if you need to wait they have literally everything on the ground level to entertain you from corn-hole to pin pong and toys for the kids. Lots of effort was put into the décor and you can tell. The food and the service was forgettable though. I had the shrimp tacos for $ 15 and there are about 4 shrimp per taco and the taco shell was hard. They brought bread before the meal and there were 3 pieces for two of us. We asked for more but there is a $ 3.50 up charge for more bread. I’m not sure of the normal Bushwacker size but the happy hour ones discounted are small tumbler size. Go down the street to the Hangout for their Bushwackers. Craft beer list was minimal(3 total on tap). Pricey and good for the tourist crowd and you go to Bill’s for the scenery and comfort not the food and drinks.

This is a place you will really want to like. There are many good things about it and the food is actually quite good. In the end, however, disappointment is a likely outcome. Decent setting and not pretentious for a place that claims to have food that would border on the fine dining category. Ambiance is refreshingly casual for a spot with a good ribeye and locally caught fresh fish. However, the price tags associated with this level of dining MUST include professional service. This is where Bill’s falls down flat on their face. We had reservations and were nonetheless treated like outcasts. I spoke with Bill himself and he suggested we would be better off going somewhere else. THIS is how Bill values his customers. Table service was of the amateur variety in spite of best efforts. Honestly, I don’t think they are trained well and the expectation for performance seems to be set too low for the cost. If you’re gonna spend decent money on a nice dinner you will likely find much better value elsewhere. Good food, unprofessional service. For the same price, there are better options.
