Good little joint to eat at it. I think so many people are mislead when you see the front of the building. The food here is amazing. It’s comfort food and it’s really good. I’ve been here several times and I always get the fried shrimp plate or the Lo Mein. Good people and good food. Remember to bring cash they don’t take credit cards.

We LOVE this place. We eat here every time we come down to the Gulf Coast. The fish ans shrimp are FANTASTIC. Can’t wait to move down here so we can eat here more often.

Based on other Unilocal reviews, we gave this a go. I wanted to turn around and leave after we walked in. This place is DIRTY. The doors, floors, the counters, the walls around where the service window is… ICK! Disgusting and off-putting. How it passes inspection is beyond me! But I persevered with hubs in search of a good poboy. Okay, the shrimp and oyster poboys are pretty good and generously filled. The mayo is very watery and drippy, though, and we prefer the french bread to be toasted — which I suppose we could have asked for. But I left with our greasy sack of poboys feeling like I needed to go home and take a shower.

My favorite place to go when I visit Gulfport. The poboys are great, only problem I have is the long wait. But the food is worth the wait.

You can’t beat their Shrimp plate or the Big Daddy combo! I have eaten here several times over the past 10 years and have yet to find anything I don’t like.

Was searching for a good place to get a shrimp po’ boy since the place I used to go has not been the same since Katrina. This place was recommended by several friends, so decided to give it a try. First of all, if you were just driving by, you would NEVER stop… looks like it’s in an old drive-up ice cream place, with a little sandwich-board sign, in kind of a crappy part of town. BUT… it had been recommended and I’ve had some great food in some real dives, so decided what the hell. It’s called Ben’s Deli… so you would expect a little Jewish guy selling pastrami sandwiches(which would also be nice… I’m Jewish and would love a good deli!)…but no… instead it is an old ice cream shop, with a Jewish sounding name, run by a lovely Asian couple, and serves an odd mix of seafood and Asian dishes(lo mein, anyone?). Even though it looks a little iffy, the health food rating was an «A»(I always look… I won’t eat anywhere if it is lower than a 90). There are no tables as about 99% of their business is take-out(judging by the stream of people coming in and out while we were there). There is a makeshift counter built against the front windows with a few bar stools for people to either eat at or sit on while they wait for their food. Prices are extremely reasonable. I ordered the shrimp po’ boy with a side of hushpuppies, a side of potato salad, and a sweet tea(was about $ 9 for all). Tea was nice and strong(yay!), potato salad was standard, hushpuppies were not to my taste. I don’t know what the spice was that was in them, but I didn’t care for it. If you are expecting the usual, cornbread, onion, southern hushpuppies, you will be disappointed. If you like to try new flavors in old favorites, give them a try. The icing on the cake, though, was the po’ boy. It was fantastic. I have posted pictures, which don’t do it justice. Lettuce, tomato and mayo(«dressed» for those in the know) were perfect and the shrimp were piled on so high that what fell off(also posted in a picture) was a meal unto itself. Best po’ boy I’ve had in ages. If you want ambiance, though, go elsewhere! It is small, cramped, and you had a lovely view of a tire/transmission shop and a title pawn place. Once you started eating, though, you no longer cared about the view! If you want ambiance, pick up a po’ boy and get it to go! p. s., I have been told that the lo mein is also amazing… will have to try it next time!

I expect my next time to be much better. I simply ordered a ham and cheese po boy with fries. You get a good amount with just the 8 inch alone. Pretty good for something so simple. Fries were a bit undercooked, probably won’t get them again if they are always that way. Wait time wasn’t too bad considering I was the only one in there at the time. The guy working was incredibly nice. No complaints. I’ll try this place again in the future. Don’t expect to dine in, VERY limited seating, not a lot of parking. This is easily a to go place. Go check it out!

Nice score via Unilocal! Was driving from N.O. to Pcola… Used Unilocal app to search for places for lunch. This place was a little off the highway but I was okay with that and figured the quality would be better that way. I had the shrimp po boy and a sweet tea and it was delish! My GF had some sort of noodle thang and she seemed to really enjoy it. The shrimp po boy was extremely tasty. I would recommend it; and would go back.
