I am no car aficionado by any stretch but my guy is. He loves cars, trucks, jeeps… new and old alike. When I hear him whistling or saying how sexy something is I can almost guarantee you it’s not a girl he’s looking at. it’s a car. Which, by the way, is a good thing because I’d be a tiny bit jealous if he were whistling at another girl. And by tiny bit I mean a whole helluva lot. Anyway, he’s the reason I have been to Crusin’ the Coast now two years in a row. It’s such a fun event. There are beautiful old cars up and down the beach, out of this world people watching and just a really nice way to spend a day or evening. Also? Educational. I now know a lot about cars. And this is coming from the girlest girl. I know what a ’74 Nova looks like and why it’s so badass. I now know why spinning your tires is a «thing» and what it actually smells like. I now appreciate old cars and restored engines. Don’t hesitate to go to this yearly event. You(even you girls) won’t regret it.

Coon Ass: «Hey dere. If I throw some beer down dere on the ground will you spin them there tires?» Me: «Negative» If you’re a fan of classic cars, Crusin the Coast is a must see. Held every year on the gulf coast, this event has grown from a small gathering to having 8000 classic vehicles registered. Only cars 25 years or older are allowed to register, but you don’t need to register to enjoy the sights. I am a lunatic when it comes to cars. Most guys will break their neck trying to get a glimpse of a beautiful girl. Not this guy. But I will forget what I’m doing, crane my neck and spontaneously utter«whoa» when I see a early 70s muscle car. Considering the volume of awesome cars at this event, I was in constant danger of walking into poles, crashing into the ocean and falling off of the curb. The way the event works, there are several official venues with music and food. The events are free, but the best way to get the full experience is to drive around. Here are some highlights. Pass Christian — the downtown area of the pass is closed off to regular vehicles and the streets are lined with classic cars. Park along the elevated portion of the beach road and walk the few blocks to enjoy the cars. Gulfport/Biloxi — as you drive closer to these areas, the beachfront crowds get thick. This is where the people gather to watch burnouts and leer at the cars as they drive by. Several people even photographed my vehicle despite it being new. Maybe the onlookers were scouts for the movie industry or something. Bay St. Louis — the best part about cousin the coast in the bay is that you can drive through a plethora of cars and people. That is the best part because I got to experience a coon ass saying the quote listed at the beginning of the review. It’s the worst because people are walking everywhere and once you’ve committed to driving that way, there’s no getting out. If you love classic cars, grab a chair and find a shady spot to sit by the main beach road. You will be in car heaven.
