Stopped in over the weekend just because I was curious. Their oranges out front looked good and the veggies that were in season also looked fresh. Everything else was kinda old… lotsa soft brown apples, peppers, zuc, etc. Overall, I doubt I’ll be back. The prices aren’t any cheaper than most grocery stores and their selection is limited. It would have to be super convenient for me to become a regular shopper.

Do your math before they ring you up at gulfport produce! I have been over charged by $ 0.50 or more almost every time I’ve gone into this store. The first visit I didn’t notice. I was so glad to live close to a fresh produce market. The second time I went overboard buying many fruits and veggies, still didn’t notice. The third time I thought«something is off on my total» but didn’t question it. The fourth thru sixth times I did my own math and pointed out that they overcharged. Each time I received an apology and an excuse«price change I didn’t know». Well I understand that prices change but not daily! I then stopped patronizing them thinking they had a racket to overcharge $ 0.25 here $ 0.75 there and divvy it up at the end of the night. Today I gave another chance because ‘it’s convenient’ and sure enough…1 pack of celery 1.39 + 1 pack of carrots .79 = charged $ 2.68 instead of $ 2.18. I pointed it out, received an apology and the«prices changed» mantra. One time I was in there a lady was over charged for boiled peanuts and she pointed it out! Don’t know if race has anything to do with this but that lady and I are the same race. In addition, customers can’t see the register! Only the scale is visible. I addressed my concerns(same thing I’m typing here) with the cashier and received all the«I understands» and the kicker«we’re just using this old calculator» HUH?! What does that mean? It’s still a calculator! Someone should go in undercover and test out this overcharging practice. They’ve never offered me a receipt. I should have asked for a receipt and I know that anytime you shop anywhere you should do your own math, but really!!! Thank you.

I am a firm believer if each of us would purchase goods from an independent grocer or vegetable stand we would not hurt the big box stores but would make a tremendous impact on family farms and small businesses! This business however DOESNOT deserve one customer! I travel to Sarasota daily for work … I push the limit to hit Gulfport before 6:00 pm… I have showed up at Gulfport Produce at 5:55 pm twice in the last 3 weeks, I have cash just running in for fresh items for dinner, and a very rude lady today 3÷17÷15 wearing overalls rudely says I am not pushing you but you have 3 minutes until we close. I get it, I work but really you are selling perishable items, I am not browsing and if you were a good business person you would recognize me… I use to purchase 90% of my produce from you! As of today, I will not visit your business again! I had the exact same lady say the exact same thing last week… I gave her the benefit of the doubt but today I realize, if she is not the owner she wants the owner to close up shop with that attitude! I hope my post makes an impact, not that I want to see a small business fail in fact I hope they read this and make positive changes. I gave one star only because you cannot rate poor customer service any lower! A very sadden ex-customer from Treasure Island Florida
Best part of living in a small town is funky little spots like this. I’m a sucker for fruit stands and this is a pretty decent one. It’s small, and like another reviewer said it can get a little cramped inside. But if you want fresh, ripe, delicious fruit and vegetables at equal or better prices than the supermarkets than I’d recommend giving these guys a shot! They even have a selection of herbs and greens available in walk in fridges and the regular or Cajun boiled peanuts are a treat. For $ 1.99 you can fill a 32oz. cup full to the top. I live exactly one mile away and am thrilled to have them so close!

The only place around my neighborhood where you can pick up your fresh produce. You don’t see too many produce stands around town because of places like Walmart and publix. I like to visit when I can to gather some fresh from the tree fruits and see what types of vegetables that the have in stock at the moment. I can almost guarantee that you will fill find just about anything that you needed to make that meal for the night or for the week. It is situated right on Gulfport blvd and just past swansons.

Great fresh, quality fruits and vegetables. Space is a little cramped. But staff is always nice, and they offered boiled peanuts too!
