Save On Seafood

This place is the best Wish we had one of these where I live.

Leaving Florida I decided to put an hour aside to find fish to take home. What I ended up doing was chasing my tail and wasting two hours that could have been better spent on the road. Looking on the Unilocal app. this place was just down the road from where I already was and figured i’d give it a shot.
The store is clean, organized and does not smell fishy but the prices are high for supposed local fish. I say this because when asking the woman behind the counter where it came from she had to go and ask ?
The grouper at $ 8.99 lb. was the cheapest thing they had and was asking $ 14.99 lb. for lobster (this did have a sign about the bad weather and availability.) Nothing special here I think Joe Patties has ruined me for fish markets.

Excellent little Gulfport neighborhood gem to grab extremely fresh seafood & even live lobster & blue crab! We were a bit over taken by the aroma when first walking in, but eventually adapted. The staff was very pleasant; if we needed anything or wanted to find something they didn’t carry in their store, they were happy to let us know they would try to track it down for us.
We recommend this place to local chefs, home chefs or your wanna be chefs & local foodies!

The name of the market cautiously sparked my attention; but, thanks to positive fellow Unilocalers, I decided to give it a try for fresh salmon. The market had a large variety of fresh fish, which made me anxious to try something new, however, the manager on duty convinced me into fresh king organic, farm raised salmon. After being skeptical of farm raised fish, the kind lady assisting me clarified the difference of each fish (farm, ocean caught, and organic) and let me try a slice of sashimi. DELICIOUS and melt-​in-​your-​mouth buttery! I was visiting the area, but will definitely return back when in St Pete for more seafood to compliment a perfect day’s cookout.

I shop here regularly and the staff and selection are excellent! Prices are decent. Highly recommended!!!

I love this place. The varieties of seafood are always abundant, and it’s always incredibly fresh. They generally carry items that simply cannot be found in the grocery stores. To top it off, the prices are excellent, and they have small pieces of various fish for way less than buying it in fillet or steak form — and it’s just as tasty. We do a LOT of good eating because of Save on Seafood.

Nice seafood market with a good selection of whole fish, live Maine lobster, and blue crabs. You can choose your lobster from the tank or pick a fish and have it filleted. They have a selection of very large U-​15 shrimp, stone crab in season, and other shellfish. Fish fillets of groupers, «organic» salmon, and tuna. I’ve also seen monk fish and more exotic species. There is a frozen selection of soups, gumbos, and dips as well as a variety of spices and seasonings to get you cooking. You can also buy bait and catch your own.
This place is always busy which can make parking a challenge, but that means high turnover which is good in the seafood business. Walk in grab a number and use that time to choose what looks good. The staff is always friendly and efficient. They will happily provide ice to keep your purchases cold or tips on cooking your selection.
