I grew up on great Mexican food in Tucson, AZ. Since leaving 13 years ago, I have not found anything close in Colorado. My search is over. Hands down best Mexican food I have had in 13 years.

So surprised when we stopped here! We’d been driving all afternoon from Utah and my family and I were all ready for a break and a bite to eat. This was the first restaurant we’d passed since Montrose, so we took a chance, even though it looks a little dicey from the road. I agree with another reviewer that the place needs a serious update to it’s décor. It was drab inside and out, with need for a new paint job and lighting. However, the food was DELICIOUS. I had the pork chile verde and it was wonderful – very fresh, clearly homemade, spicy, and tasty. Chips and salsa were also delicious, as was my husband’s burrito. The service was excellent – the staff worked hard to make sure we were satisfied and our drinks were kept full. If we’re ever along Hwy 50 again, we’d definitely stop here.

Surprisingly okay. I must admit I was a bit scared. It just didn’t look very vibrant, authentic, lively or friendly. The outside is pretty drab(some would say dumpy) and the place adjacent to a Rodeway Inn. This was definitely not where we planned on eating at but we were exhausted after the driving from Denver. Due to some last minute change in plans, we were also staying at the adjacent motel so when we checked in we were just exhausted and completely unmotivated to drive into town properly. The service was okay. I think our waitress meant well and did the best she could. The food was surprisingly okay. The chips and salsa were fresher and tastier than I expected. The chips actually were warm and seemed to have been fried recently and in clean oil. I got a basic chile relleno plate and the fiancé got a chimichanga plate. The rice was also pretty fresh tasting and was well-cooked(i.e. fluffly texture). The food was decent, fresh and average tasting. I was honestly expecting scary, potential food poisoning quality food. A we got pretty average, non-scary quality food. Total surprise. Pros: Close for motel patrons, chips, rice, not scary quality ingredients, booths. Cons: Out-dated décor, dead vibe, quiet. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here(as both a tourist or if I was a local) but if you happen to be staying on this side of town where a lot of motels are, it is an option. You can safely eat here without getting food poisoning or eating gross tasting food.
