I highly recommend Center for Pelvic Wellness! After I gave birth my back was killing me. I waited about 7 months before going to the doctor because I was a bit overwhelmed with new momhood :) It had gotten to the point where it hurt so bad I could barely get out of bed and had to pull myself up clinging to the side of the crib. I went to a back dr. and had an mri and he said it was my sacroiliac joint causing the pain. He recommended Center for Pelvic Wellness and I made the appointment right away. My PT was one of the owners, Shannon, and I absolutely adore her! My case was a little tricky because my sacroiliac joint was still moving around due to nursing hormones plus there was a disc issue to deal with and I didn’t want to take anti-inflammatories because I was still nursing. Shannon knew exactly what to do and my back started feeling better after a couple of treatments. I actually can’t believe that at one time I had to literally pull myself out of bed. Shannon gave me new exercises to add each week and those, coupled with her myofascial release/massage(I believe that’s what it’s called) and very gentle adjustments, have been wonderful. Don’t be scared off when I say adjustments… this is not at all the same thing as what chiropractors do. It was very subtle, intentional and gentle but it made a huge difference. I would go in there with my hips totally crooked because of the sacro joint and Shannon would gently put me back in place and show me the proper exercises to keep things where they belong. I’m a total baby but it didn’t hurt at all and actually felt good. Now that my sessions are complete I totally miss the myofascial release/massage! :( Shannon is a total sweetheart too! She’s not only smart and incredibly skilled but she makes you feel totally at ease. I’ve also met the other owner, Josephine, and she’s really sweet as well. I was walking out of a session one day at the same time as another client and the client told me when she started she could barely walk into the first appointment. She said she lives really far(Bolingbrook I think) and couldn’t understand why her dr. wanted her to drive so far to do physical therapy… but once she started with this group she totally understood and loves them too. Also, I had a billing issue with my carrier and they(Center for Pelvic Wellness) went out of their way to accommodate me and make it work. It’s so difficult to find quality service, friendly service AND skilled service all in one place but I found it here and would recommend them to everyone! During my treatments I found out they also work with men so don’t let the words«pelvic wellness» throw you off. I was amazed to learn how directly connected back pain(and other pain) is related to our pelvic region. Also, if you’re currently pregnant or recently had a baby, don’t assume it’ll go away on it’s own and simply live with the pain like I did for awhile… call this group! Thanks Shannon, you’re the best!!!
