The place is in a small shopping lot so if your not looking for it you might miss it. I just grabbed a dozen chocolate, glazed, and maple because when I went around 9am they were pretty much sold out of everything which is a good sign. They were very sold and delicate with tons of flavor. Very good doughnut shop. I would have given it a 5 star but I couldn’t try everything.

Delicious doughnuts, friendly people, and great prices? Yes, please! Grabbed an apple fritter — crispy edges, soft inside, scrumptious — and a glazed chocolate cake. Super sweet lady(I think one of the owners?) even went to the back to grab the chocolate cake doughnuts they had just glazed! Still warm, and so flipping good! I will definitely be back! :)

Just had the best old fashioned donut ever. The only thing I would change is the coffee, I think a bold blend would complement these perfect donuts a little better

A little place with big YUM! I’m addicted to the apple fritters, old fashioned, and blueberry. My husband says the jelly donuts are the best he’s ever had. Great place to get your donut sweet tooth on and with great prices and friendly owners, you can’t go wrong. So much better than those generic chain donut shops.

Fantastic family owned donut shop. High quality, tasty, and plenty of variety. The proprietors really love their establishment, so it makes it even more special to want to support their business!

I have known Kevin for years and I am ashamed to say that I have never tried one of his donuts until this past Sunday. I went to Donutfest in Wicker Park, a festival of donuts in which Gurnee Donuts was one of the participating vendors. Their offering for the show was a taro root donut. The donut in my opinion is the best practical use of the vegetable in any pastry or dessert I have ever tasted. Kudos to this business for introducing an unconventional flavor to the donut scene and more importantly doing it well.

Best donuts anywhere around… period. They will be at Donut Fest in Chicago tomorrow first session only. I will be there for the second session this missing them. Hearing this, Kevin, the owner let us try the donut is is competing with. Totally unique and unreal good. Go see them soon. If not at Donut Fest drive up here and meet the family and have some of the best donuts you can get anywhere. BYW… the coffee is good too. Update: Purple potato donut… so good and original. Gurnee Donut took 1st place with this donut at Donut Fest Chicago today! Congrats To KEVIN and his family/team!

On our recent trip, we got chocolate, maple bacon, and red velvet donuts; an apple fritter; and a couple of cinnamon rolls. You can tell that all of these were fresh and made with care. This is not a Firecakes, Donut Vault, or Impallaria’s, but it’s damn close. I would, for sure, go back.(And for those who care, I thought the red velvet was the best out of the bunch).

Delicious homemade donuts! I just moved to the area and saw this place on the corner and had to stop in and check it out. The have a smaller selection than your typical Dunkin, but the quality far surpasses. Not only are their donuts good, but you need to try the apple fritters too! Great family owned shop. Stop by and try them out!

I was in Chicago visiting some family and was in the Gurnee area and my kids were craving donuts and we stopped by Gurnee Donuts. It is such a cute little family owned store in a shopping center. The owners are very friendly. I’ve heard people talking about the bacon maple long johns but the sound of that wasn’t appealing at all. Having said that, I will tried anyone once before giving my final judgment. Wow is all I can say. It was delicious. Its the combination of sweet and savoy. They also have a variety of donuts and coffee. Being there makes you want to try everything they have. I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

These are some amazing donuts! My in-laws live out this way so I always try to pay a visit whenever i’m in town and they never disappoint. They can seriously give the city donuts a run for their money. The old fashioned donut is mine and my daughter’s favorite, but the blueberry and apple fritters are amazing as well. The family who owns it are SOOOO super nice and recently recovered the shop after 2 fires hit them last year — I am so happy they are back up and running and better than ever. They even remembered me! AND they added amazing gourmet coffee that tastes exactly like viet coffee — sweet and strong… love it! The fact that they are still a local moms and pops shop and so highly admired in the community makes them a must visit for anyone in the Gurnee area!

Permanently closed. Do not waste your time driving out there like I did. I was lured in by the Unilocal stars only to be let down. Sucks! Next stop dunkin donuts!

The worker was so generous when I stopped in. She gave me a free boston cream donut for cryin out loud! Now personally I’m not a huge fan of filled donuts, but I really can’t complain as it was free… This place also advertises that they’ll give you free donut holes after checking in on Unilocal,so that’s awesome. I announced I was checking in and she stuffed tons of donut holes in my bag — all of which were of the yeast-raised variety with a light sugary glaze. Truthfully, I wasn’t a fan of these guys either, but I’m more of a cake donut gal so that probably explains it. Their buttermilk donut is reeeeal good — dense interior with a sugarily-crunchified outer portion. Easily my favorite. The red velvet was pretty good and looks beautiful, a deep red in color(see pics!) I must say that it wasn’t especially flavorful though — all you taste is the slight sugary-glaze which coats the outside of the donut. I should have skipped on ordering the cinnamon sugar; it was decidedly dry and nothing special. And I’m proud to declare that I successfully resisted my urge to order an apple fritter! They were peering out at me from the glass display case, and just by glancing at them I could tell that they were the kind I liked. Dangerous. One day… I’ll ignore the internal warning and polish off one of these sugary masterpieces.
