This place should be on DDD on Food Network! What a gem! We were at Six Flags all day and wanted a quick bite to eat before heading back to WI. Found this of course on Unilocal and wanted to try it since it had so many great reviews. Waiter was very kind despite me having 3 crazy kids with me. I know my Mexican food and this place was on point! Fresh guacamole, amazing salsa, and authentic food, made this place 5 stars from me! I had a steak burrito suizo with the hottest salsa they had on smothered over it! Man was it good! Too bad I only had about ¼ of it, I was too busy shoving my face with chips. BTW, rice and beans were perfect! Thank you!

Hidden gem! The best place around to get your Mexican fix. The food is amazing, order the Burrito Suizo with steak and green sauce and you won’t be sorry(or hungry). It is huge! I have been here so many times for lunch at work and the staff actually remembers my order. Whenever I go they just put my order in when I walk in. They are very friendly! The actual restaurant is a little on the small side and can fill up quick at peak hours. There is really no atmosphere but you don’t come here for that. A meal here is around $ 10 and most people probably won’t be able to finish a whole meal.

Stopped here tonight to have some dinner with the family, let me tell you everything was excellent! I had the combo #1, it was delicious… The mole sauce on the enchilada was some of the best I have ever had. If you are in the area and are looking for some tasty, fresh Mexican food, please stop here, OH… And the staff is super attentive and very nice!

Wonderful food and service. Had the huevos rancheros and fish tacos. Both were delicious.

Alright, so I hate refried beans, BUT these are amazing! They aren’t dry at all the rice isn’t dry. The steak tacos are great. The taco platter comes with a decent amount of rice, beans, and 3 tacos. Our order came out within 3 – 5 minutes of ordering. Granted, we came at a slow time. Everything seemed authentic. Only complaint was the salsas, not much flavor.

Had lunch there today. Busy right at noon but we took one of the last tables. Service started off slow but one we placed our order food came fast. My friend and I each had a combo taco, flauta, quesadilla. We also tried the guacamole. Good food fair price would go back

Holy smokes, this place is crazy good. I’m here on business and was craving some good Mexican food. So I hit up Unilocal and found this place within a couple of miles of my hotel. I had absolutely the best tamale I’ve ever had followed by the Taco Al Pastor platter which was almost as good. The rice and beans were just average but everything else was so good that I really didn’t care. The staff was also very friendly and the food was served up fast even though they were pretty crowded. Word of caution though, when they say their hot sauce is «spicy,» you better listen up. It was no joke and lit me up. Haha.

The best Mexican joints I’ve ever found. The waitstaff is super friendly. The flavored of the food and especially the sauces are unbeatable. Go go go and it’ll quickly become one of your favorite spots.

Yummy alot of food! The burrito is a good size although a good amount of it is the flour tortilla. Everything is tasty I got the green salsa which wasn’t that hot. Next time I’ll try red!

Excellent authentic tacos and salsa! It’snot your typical sit down restaurant, so I only order food to-go.

What a hidden gem. I have been visiting other stores in the same parking lot, but never paid attention to this one for well over a year. At last, got a chance to try this one. The food portions were huge. I had the chicken burrito suizo and my friend had the enchiladas. I could taste how fresh the ingredients were. I enjoyed my dish very much. I am a fan, and will be visiting this place a lot more from now on :)

The authentic mexican food is awesome, and it practically makes up for the tv that’s on and the simple furniture in this hole in the wall.

This restaurant is a hidden little gem on Washington street. I don’t know how I’ve missed this place as it’s been here for 3 years. My loss as the food is superb. The offerings on the menu are typical mexican fair, but once you receive your food you will find an exquisite balance of flavors as well as clean streight forward presentation. The 2 hot sauces which come to the table with the meal are definitely out of the ordinary. Mild green is creamy with a hint of avocado and lime. The red, also creamy, well balanced with a touch if smokieness. My huevos chorizo where delightful and the portion generous. The Mexican rice is mild, not too saucy or overly tomato flavored and the beans are super creamy. My husband really enjoyed his sample plate of streak taco and streak enchilada also served along side with the rice and beans. Be aware, this is not the type of place one frequents for the ambiance of which there is zero. Take heart however, the food, excellent service and knowledge that you are supporting a local family more than makes up for this. We’ll be back. Hope to see you there.

Great family run place. Owners and staff are nice and friendly. Tacos are the best lake county has to offer. My husband and I love the barbecue pork tacos. Very flavorful. The refried beans are good. The rice is wonderful. They have great guacamole. And don’t forget the flan! We have also tried the rellanos and the chimichanga, both were fantastic. I could easily eat here every day!

Great little restaurant! Fantastic food! Friendly service! About 8 tables. Most were filled when we walked in, so we took that as a good sign. Server brought out chips and salsa. Salsa was good, chips were really good-light crispy and salty. I had enchiladas(I requested flour tortilla) with green sauce: One cheese, one chicken, one pork. It came with beans and rice. All very tasty. Pork and chicken were very good. The pork had a little spice to it. My husband ordered a pork burrito and 3 steak tacos. He liked it very much! They charge .25 extra for sour cream, avocado, and cheese. They bring red(hot) and green(medium) sauce to the table. We definitely enjoyed our lunch and will be going back soon!

I’d say good Tex-Mex food. The menu is just as expected. The restaurant is well run and our server was on top of taking the order promptly, explaining the hot sauce was atomic(it is) and getting things right. The food is ‘right-on’ as is the service.

Here’s a few things to consider before you read my review: 1. Have not been a huge fan of Mexican food(don’t love it, don’t hate it) 2. Don’t like corn tortillas Last time I had legit Mexican food was in central Mexico three years ago. Since then, I had long forgotten the taste of a good taco. lets just say I have been reconverted I got the pork tamales and a chicken taco. The tacos are roughly the size of one’s palm. The tamales about the size of a hand(in length). If you come with a hungry stomach, you need more than one taco and tamales. I don’t know how they get that sour cream, meat, and vegetable ratio just right, but they do it, and it’s a warm explosion of flavors in your taste buds. The restaurant is small but clean. If you’re in the area, just come; they made corn tortillas work for me.

Located in a small plaza, this place is pretty delicious! The dining area is clean. There’s no greasy smell or sticky tables and chairs. I always get a little grossed out when I’m walking into a restaurant and I can just see how little the tables has been cleaned. It makes me wonder how dirty the kitchen is. We ordered tacos(chicken and bbq pork), chicken and cheese quesadilla, and steak tostadas. $ 12 ish. I really like the tacos I ordered. The chicken was very flavorful, shredded and easy to eat(as in, when you take bites, no big chunks of chicken come flying out of your taco). The taco was topped with shredded lettuce and tomato. The bbq pork was a tiny bit spicy for me. But it was filled with meat, shredded lettuce and diced onions. I opted out from cilantro and added some lime juice on both tacos. I gotta admit, it was pretty delicious! My favorite out of the both is the chicken. My boyfriends quesadilla and steak tostadas was good as well. The quesadilla got a small crunch in them but the inside was still cheesy and soft. I could easily eat two of them. The steak tostada reminded me of my taco except it is flat and not folded. The crispness from the shell on the tostada complimented the sour cream, cheese and steak. What I didn’t like was how salty the steak and shell was. I felt like I was eating chunks of salt. No Bueno :(I had to eat it with some white rice to balance the salt. I love how their food isn’t overly greasy and it doesn’t have a bad after taste after eating it.(The bad oil /fried taste…) All the items we ordered tasted fresh. If you’re craving for Mexican food, I would recommend this place! I’m not a huge fan of Mexican food but this place makes me want to come back and try more of the items on their menu.

GURNEEGEM We drove by and noticed this cute little restaurant from the road so we decided to check it out on Unilocal and were amazed with the great reviews. We decided to bookmark it and return on our next trip through the area. Fast forward to that day… We had just finished at Six Flags and we were looking for food. Luckily our bookmark was waving at us when we opened the Unilocal app. When we walked in we found that half of the tables were taken which is a great sign. I also loved at how clean the restaurant was. A nice young man took us to our table. I could tell that he was probably one of the children of the owners. It’s a different feel when a young kid is working at a place that they don’t care about. This kid actually had a great heart and no teenage attitude. I decided to order the Steak Burrito Suizo. I asked for the hottest sauce on top and they didn’t disappoint me. Wow was it spicy but delicious. I think I shocked the family who owns this place because I loved it. They probably thought I couldn’t handle it. I’m trained in taking the heat. Eight years ago I would have probably crawled into a corner to die after eating this but not anymore. The young boy checked on me a couple of times. I think he was impressed with how I took down the spicy burrito beast and was still alive. We also got just a regular steak burrito not covered in cheese and sauce. Which was tasty but I was in such love with my choice nothing else would have tasted good to me. We also orders a kids meal which was a deal at only $ 3.99. It included an enchilada, rice, beans & a juice box. Score! I am also so lucky that my little one eats everything except for spicy but she does give it a try followed by a glass of water. She wants to eat spicy so bad like us. I just keep telling her in time she will get use to it. Before we left we went back by the kitchen and spoke with Jesus the owner. He was such a great guy. I had to tell him how much I loved the spicy sauce. He then showed me all of the different kind of salsas he had. I had so much fun talking food with him. I even shared some of my salsas I make at home with him. I learned that his place is a family affair and I love to hear that. I grew up in a family business so I get it. You work hard together and it pays the bills and gives the family a shot at a better tomorrow. It is amazing how successful Jesus has been and he never has taken out advertising yet. Word of mouth can still drive a business as long as you keep delivering quality food with great service. I can hardly wait to come back here. If you visit Six Flags or go shopping at Gurnee Mills then take a drive over here for some fantastic food. You will be glad you did. Don’t eat that overpriced & fake food in the park. Come here and get some real food. I am just wondering how a spicy burrito and a 87 degree vertical roller coaster drop mix. Well I’m willing to try it in the name of Science. Bring it on.
