There are not a lot of choices in Guthrie, so I ate here on a recommendation from a local. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar alone is worth the visit. The items are fresh and appear to be homemade. The sandwich was a bit small, however I ate so much from the one trip to the salad bar that I was definitely full upon leaving. I will come again next time I’m in Guthrie.

Over an hour for my sub par food waitress was cranked out. Burger was disgusting and two of the 4 we ordered had hair in them that was enough for me I will never go back!!! Cool décor sucks other than that not recommended at all!!!

Good food, good value, good service. Salad bar has always been clean and fresh. It’s not health food, but you always get your monies worth of a wide variety of food. Great variety and I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Excellent ribs — thick, juicy, almost off the bone but not quite, just perfectly cooked. They also have good burgers and salad bar, which rounds out with a nice assortment of desserts — cakes, pies, and ice cream. Also they are open until 9pm were most other places close earlier Down side, parking… the lot is small and a bit tight. If you are bringing grandma and grandpa drop them off and park at the Library or on Division Avenue. The ribs are worth the effort to find a spot. Furthermore while we like the food the service is at times inconsistent. Sometimes we dred getting some of wait staff while other times we have received very good service otherwise I would give it 4 stars.

This is our Favorite Restaurant in Guthrie! We are here at least once a week! They have a wonderful menu with a huge selection to please everyone. The food is always served with big portions, fresh delicious taste and great service! The ambience here is so comfortable and inviting with a stunning collection of eclectic antiques and vintage findings. Such a wonderful experience! If you visit Guthrie, you must eat at Stables!

It take two to eat the Chicken Fried Steak, mashed Potatoes and Gravy. This place is like going back in time. Great place if you make it to Guthrie.

Had an above average lunch at Stables on a Monday. I arrived late, nearly 2 in the afternoon. But, the place still had quite a few tables seated, and at least 3 more came in while I was eating. The place has got a laid back country junk yard kind of vibe to it. Lots of knick-knacks and whatnot, there’s stuff everywhere. Some cool to look at, some not so cool to look at. But, it was very comfortable, spacious, and clean. I was approached immediately by a server for my drink order. I was going to go with the chicken fried steak sandwich with a trip to the famous salad bar. The server advised me to just get the chicken fried steak meal. It was a couple bucks cheaper, came with all the same stuff, and included free trips to the salad bar. So, her not upselling me for a slightly higher tip was very appreciated. I checked out the salad bar. It’s large, but it’s circular, rather than rectangular. This means that a lot of the ingredients are toward the center of the circle, and difficult to get if you aren’t tall. I had to negotiate to get to the pickled okra, and I’m 6’2″. But, it was an above average salad bar. There are lots of choices for toppings, dressings, and homemade ingredients like potato salad and pasta salad. You can make a really unhealthy salad too if you want(cheese, fried onions, creamy dressing, etc), and what’s better than an unhealthy salad? My food arrived fairly quickly, and it looked great(see picture). There was just enough gravy, but not too much. It was a tad thick, but it was seasoned well. The steak was crispy, but the steak to breading ratio was off. Not nearly enough steak, this is why I’m not giving Stables 5 stars. The steak was crispy and the breading was seasoned well, there was simply too much of it. The fries were better than average, very hot and crispy. I’m not in Guthrie often, but when I go back I would absolutely eat at Stables again. These types of cafes are becoming more and more rare, when you come across one, eat there. It has character, the food won’t blow you away, but it’s better than average, and the people are friendly. You can always go back to a highway food chain for your next meal. Recommended.

Food: very mediocre(think Applebees). Had the ribs and sausage at the buffet. Bbq sauce ok, ribs in the buffet is dry, sausage is just the packaged sausage you can buy in the frozen section at the grocery store. Salad bar: i feel sorry for the locals if this is your best salad bar(I’m from California). It is small on veggie/fruit assortment, with 4 – 5 mayo-based salads. although props for the fresh fruit and cottage cheese– especially the pineapple. make sure you read the labels on the dressing spoons, they were mixed up when we were there. Customer service: ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE. Came here with a large party(about 25 people) that had been reserved by my friend for an anniversary party. Very poor communication on the restaurant about their ‘party’ and ‘banquet’ rooms booking policies. There are no written policies on their website, menus, or in their establishment about booking rooms. The website verbiage about these rooms is confusing and misleading! No written contract was signed or received by my friends– it was all verbal. Thought they were reserving a room, ending up having to share it with other people«so the football people don’t have to wait» –says the owner. When the banquet room was booked we were told that we would have the room. That is what a banquet room is for. If that is not your intention then there shouldn’t be a banquet room. As for the party going from 50 to 25 people… Well things happen– my friends did the correct thing in informing the restaurant about the group size changing. Friends were told $ 23 a person who ate the buffet, nothing about people in our party who didnt eat the buffet or order off the menu. They also ordered four pies from them and told them it was a dessert reception; however most everyone ate the food. Ok, so why are we being charged $ 23 per person for the buffet when walk-ins are getting charged $ 8 and eating THEEXACTSAMEFOOD? Its absurd that someone gets charged $ 23 for a small salad. Oh, owner cones up to my friends and informs them anyone who didnt eat food but ate dessert? Still have to pay the $ 23, because NOW its per person. It is also absurd that it is expected for someone to eat a raw burger that they had to wait 40 minutes for. The buffet would of been a great price if there had been more options. Poor communication and attitude from the owner and our server. The server did not explain ANYTHING the whole time we were sitting down, even after i told her i have never eaten here before. This place held a special place in their hearts. Now it does not. We will never step a single toe in your establishment again.

There are many people in Oklahoma that will argue about the best BBQ in the state. Some people will say Bob’s in Ada has the best BBQ and others will say Jake’s in Chickasha has the best in the state. I Love good BBQ and I will tell you in my opinion Stables in Guthrie has the best I have ever tasted. The best thing on the menu at Stables is the Rib Basket! What makes this item so good is that they give you these charred end pieces of meat that have been smoked to perfection. You really don’t need sauce with these ribs but their sauce is equally as tasty. If that wasn’t enough, they then serve it with these amazing onion slivers that have been perfectly deep fried. If you do not have a hankering for BBQ or your mouth isn’t watering by now, I haven’t done my job. Do yourself a favor and take a road trip to Guthrie Oklahoma and I promise you will not be disappointed. This a very nostalgic piece of Americana with the most amazing ribs! Feast and Enjoy!

Best BUFFET in town, or out of town. The very best BBQ Chicken ever. The best service by family people who care about what you are served. Our Son and his family have eaten here over thirty years. Now, we are sampling their great food!

My boyfriend and I went through Guthrie on a day trip and were immediately attracted to this place because it is undeniably cute from the outside. We went in and the awesome décor continued inside. And that is where all the cute and fun of this place stopped and died. It took quite awhile for anyone to even seat us. Keep in mind, it was a Wednesday at noon. There were tons of empty tables and booths and a lot of wait staff just sitting around. When we were finally seated, it took forever to get drink orders and then food orders. Not to mention my water tasted like dirt and my food came out so cold the gravy was starting to congeal. But by far the worst part is how we were treated by our waitress and others working there. I have never gone into a restaurant or anywhere else in another town and felt like an outsider. But this place managed to give us that feeling. We were largely ignored by all staff, even as they proceeded to check on those around us. Congratulations, this was my worst dining experience ever.

Not great. Food is all unhealthy with little flavor. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 2 is because of the cute(but tacky) atmosphere. Salad bar is ok, food is so greasy.

Terribly rude!!! We have been seated for 25 mins and no wait staff have come by. When we asked the owner of we could get service she told us we should have had a reservation. We were only a table of 7 on a Tuesday at noon. She was rude and hateful!

Bring your appetite. First thing you smell getting out of your car is the most amazing bbq meat smell ever! We were already hungry but before we even got to the door our mouths were watering even more. The entrance is a bit narrow, ok a lot narrow, but once you get inside and see all the amazing old signs and memorabilia, you are taken down memory lane more times than you can count. We were taken by the buffet on the way to our table, and let me tell you it was hard not to just stop and take a deep breath to take in more of that amazing smell. We of course got the buffet with salad bar. No regrets, none at all. The ribs are cooked in their sauce and well, though there was more sauce available, honestly they did not need any more added. It was divine. There was chicken as well, and that was tasty but it was the ribs that we went back for more of. And more. and more. Okra and other things were also available, and blackberry cobbler. That was good as well. But have I mentioned the ribs?

Love the food and the atmosphere. Although has one of the rudest owners ever. We considered throwing a birthday party in their fabulous back room bar several months ago and she was not flexible and absolutely offensive to my husband. Do not consider throwing an event there.

Okay, this review is really for the secret they’re hiding in the back of Stables — «Taproom 223». This is the hidden gem of Guthrie, for sure! They have a beautiful tap room set up in back of the restaurant with so many craft beers I lost count. We were very impressed with the line up of beers, and you can order from the full Stables menu in there as well. The décor of Taproom 223 is gorgeous. Brick walls, dark furniture, very nice bar, tastefully decorated. If you’re a beer lover and visiting Guthrie, you must stop in here. Bar staff is excellent, and the owners are super nice people to visit with.

I have enjoyed the Stables in the past. Knew it was slow when busy, and that service could be spotty. But had always had decent food. Unfortunately our attempt at an early Sunday dinner forced me to re-consider my appraisal. And this at a time when they weren’t especially busy. After at least 5 full minutes standing at the front counter begging for attention, or to be seated, we asked the lady behind the counter — who had been ignoring us the same way the waitstaff had — if someone could seat us. A caustic snarky reply from this hideous troll was the last straw. Left. Won’t be back. Ever. There are places in Guthrie who do not take their customer base for granted and do serve guests. We chose to patronize them. The Stables can suck it as far as we’re concerned.
