Acme Acupuncture

Came here for my allergies and eczema about 5x now and I have to say it works! I do about 3 session right before summer time (all within a 2 month period) and it seems to do the job. 50 $ cash only/​session. I say it’s definitively worth it if you compare it to paying for meds!

Rude people… call and spoke korean to the receptionist to ask when is the least busy time of the week and he says to just come and hangs up immediately. Why should anyone give them any business? They haven’t discovered some new style of acupuncture. I will go to an acupuncturist that deserves my business.

This past year, I have been suffering from allergies. After many trips to the allergist, I was open to other options other than medicine to help my allergies. I was highly recommended of Acme Acupuncture for allergy sufferers and decided to try this place.
This office is located in a small strip mall on Gale Ave and there is a parking lot in front. The office staff speaks limited English. When you walk in you sign in and hand over $ 50 cash for the visit. They don’t accept insurance, credit cards and do not take appointments.
Similar to the other Unilocalers, this business is not very professional and the cleanliness is questionable. The patient room has two beds on opposite sides of the room. Be forewarned that you will most likely share a room with another random person of the same gender (thank goodness).
Four stars is definitely for the results! Three visits later, my cough and congestion is gone! If you are suffering from allergies, it’s worth giving Acme Acupuncture a try.

I have this nasal/​throat allergy for decades. Nasal mucus went down to my throat and triggered the unbearable throat dryness/​itchiness that i had to cough it out so bad. Especially during bed time, it affected my sleeping quality a lot.
I tried a lot of different methods but none of them seem to work. My family doctor prescribed me the nasal spray. It didn’t stop the bad cough from happening at all. The herbal medicine I had from my hometown used to work like a magic but after several years… it seemed losing its effect on me as well.
Two different sources recommended me to go to ACME and I finally decided to give it a try. During the first session with Dr. Wu, my throat already started feeling differently (better). After the first session, the lady in the clinic advised me to return for couple more treatments to make sure the symptoms go away. And just like a magic, the bad cough never returns after one treatment. I continued going for 3 more times to completely get rid of my nasal allergy and the itchy feeling in my throat. I am expecting NOT to return to this clinic for the rest of this year. Well, let’s see…

Like other people have mentioned, this is a no frills, not fancy, don’t expect to be pampered acupuncture place. You ARE sharing a room with someone of the same sex (or someone you know) and it can definitely get a bit awkward. My big tip is to bring some earphones so you can listen to some music. I don’t think the bright fluorescent lights above will help make you feel Zen like while getting acupuncture, but at least having your own music can help.
So what did I come here for? I had been having some serious allergies all year round. Not sure what it was coming from, and my Dr just prescribed me medicine to use. At the same time, I decided to go to the acupuncturist to see if that would do anything. Didn’t take any of the meds from the Dr, and the day after the first visit, I didn’t wake up with my normal allergy symptoms! Ended up coming back here a couple more times just to make sure it stuck.
As for the process, you sign in, pay $ 50 in cash for the session. You go into a room, lie on one of those beds you find at the Dr’s office. The Dr wipes the areas he’ll be sticking needles in with rubbing alcohol (I ended up holding my breadth when he rubbed it on my face because it was super strong). Then sticks needles on your front side. You lie there for 15 – 20 min. Dr comes back, tells you to flip over, sticks some needs and then lays on the suction cups so you get those big red marks. Another 15 – 20 min goes by and you’re done. They’ll tell you to come back a week later probably.
So to summarize, maybe a 1 for ambiance, but a 10 for it eliminating my allergies (though I suspect it’s just temporary and I’ll need to go for a refresh).so 5 stars! Either way, I’m not sniffling or relying on pills to make me feel better!

There is nothing funny about this place. If you’re looking to get 5 star princess treatment they do not serve it. This place cures ailments, that is all. It is shoddy, service is quick, and the hours are godawful. But I will return again and again because the results and the quality of care are fantastic. I have seasonal allergies which have led to asthma and other complications. Antihistamines and decongestants don’t take with me any longer and now I make the hour drive here to receive treatment. The first time I’m there the symptoms are gone. They disappear as I am laying there with the first round of needles. Two more visits cure me for the rest of the year. The workers are quite traditional, so please be polite and formal with your approach. And please do follow their directions afterwards, they mean well. :)

As I work at a cleaner, I inhale dust from the clothes, which cause me and my wife to have an allergic reaction such as runny nose and cough.
Ever since someone recommended me to try this place years ago, my wife and I have been regular visitors of this facility. This place is not clean and not very well organized, but the result was quite remarkable.
They also did not try to convince me to sell any Chinese herbal medicine, which cost a lot more, as other Chinese acupuncture facilities do.
If you have an allergy, this place is worth trying!!!

Dr. Wu made my ankle heal in less than two weeks. All you guys with sports injuries, he is your man.
It may seem a little sketchy the first time when you see the ‘cash only’ and ‘pay first’ signs but once you see the results, you’ll be more than satisfied.
$ 50 per session and hours are limited. Walk in only.

The 5 stars are ONLY based on the result of the acupuncture! I get acupuncture here probably around once a year to get rid of my allergies and it really does work! (:
Anyway. It costs $ 50 per visit no matter what you’re getting acupuncture for (which is kinda a lot), and you usually have to go around 2 – 3 times depending on whether or not there’s noticeable results.
When you first walk in this place, it’s looks pretty old and sketchy. It feels incredibly unsanitary and gross because there’s trash and empty needle cases lying all over the floor. but hey, at least the acupuncture works in the end!
The acupuncturist is also supposedly one of the best in the area. He and the other workers there can speak Mandarin and Korean in addition to English. Be sure to check the hours because it’s pretty random and varies day to day! And try to go either right when they open or right before they close to avoid the long waits because soo many people go there!

The stars is solely based on result.
Come here on Fri-​Sun and expect to wait at least 1 hr and ½. I came here because I had some awful allergies and I decided to try this based on an adamant recommendation from a family friend. $ 50 each session. The clientele is mostly Korean and the workers are Korean as well, but they speak Mandarin too. Dr. Wu was friendly enough, but his assistant whose a woman and is Korean was far from it.
So I’ve tried to avoid acupuncture all my life because I couldn’t justify paying someone to stick needles in me, but I decided to give it a go. Bad attitude aside, I have to say that my nose was cleared up right away. If you can ignore the attitude and the wait, this is the place to go.

I agree that the atmosphere is ghetto as many first-​timers would note. But for what non-​regulars do not know is, Dr. Wu is probably the best acupuncturist I’ve had (4 – 5 of them) ever. I have a long time nasal congestion that can get very bad especially at night. I’ve tried everything I could — western medicine, pills, those breathe right strip, neti pot, nothing. But after waiting for a few more days after a week of treatment, as if by magic, my nose was clearing up.
Now the effect isn’t forever, most likely acupuncture is only treating the symptom but not the root of my problem. But still, it’s 6 – 12 months of relief without any pills is worth it.
Weekends are very busy though and it is hard to go there during the week with their eccentric hours when you have work, but it’s still worth it. I just wish the treatment is a bit longer.

Ya’alls, I am officially traumatized by this place.
My mom urged me to get my first acupuncture to help my ailing shoulder/​back pain. Finally I caved in and hauled ass to get to Hacienda Heights.
This place is small, old, and ghetto. They get you in and out like a factory and jab needles and suction cups onto you with no warning. When they take them off, they just throw the old needles into some bin.
The partitions here are not full height, so you can hear needles and glass-​cups flying into bins everywhere! To top off the assembly-​line-​feeling, the lady working there directed a patient into our room before I even had my clothes back on. She even flung the door open into my butt!
This place has apparently cured my mom’s coughing, that’s why I still give it 3 stars. But I personally won’t be back. For $ 50/​pop for such impersonal service, I’d rather go elsewhere that takes my insurance and treats me like a human.

visited the la palma location for a sprained ankle on a recommendation from my in-​laws. i’ve never been to an acupuncturist before and was a little skeptical. although, i’m a believer now! nothing fancy but gets the job done.
they are very busy, so that’s a good sign!!!

The place is ghetto and sheisty looking, but this chinese acupuncturist cured my seasonal allergies w/​3 visits. Lifesaver! $ 50 a pop, and I believe they’re cash only.
Call in for an appointment cuz the doc switches it up between this office and another location in Anaheim.
He’s super busy so don’t be surprised if you have to «share» a room with another patient. At least he divies you up by gender.
