Not bad. Nice place, looks like a mansion turned into a restaurant. I went for the brunch buffet. The food was fine. The service was also good. The price was decent. The breakfast dishes were good, BUT… this is supposed to be Italian? I only tried the pasta and the ravioli. It did not taste like authentic Italian food from an establishment that claims to be Italian. Sorry. If I’m in the area again, I will give it another try. Worth trying.

I came here for an all-day staff conference. Since I don’t know what it costs I can’t comment on the value. Classic continental breakfast was okay– fruit, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea — nothing out of the ordinary. Lunch had a nice variety — steak, sausage, chicken, eggplant, potatoes, rice, vegetables, bread, and salad — a solid spread. Dessert was lackluster cookies(but probably a package deal.) The wait staff was polite and attentive. Unfortunately seating was cramped(an issue with the set up) and the chairs were so unstable I felt like I was going to break one(I am a size 2 — need I say more?). My biggest gripe was the following: I work full time and am nursing my baby. Staff lead me to a very cold bridal suite to pump, commented how cold it was, and left me there(mid-December with no heat and an a.c. In the window — really!!!) This made for an uncomfortable experience(in both the morning and afternoon) that affected my supply. A unique issue, perhaps, but one I am unable to overlook since it greatly effected my day overall.

Attended a family wedding Labor Day weekend at Stony Hill Inn. What a perfect event! The facility is beautiful, the food was amazing! Cocktail hour was to die for! Oysters, prime rib were so delicious! For the dinner I ordered the chateaubriand –medium rare… it came out cooked to perfection and was delicious. The service was wonderful, I really can’t say enough about what a great experience it was for the whole family.

What happened to the Stony Hill Inn, Mr. Sanzari? The Sunday Brunch was a mess. We had to keep hunting down the waitress, station person etc and we 3 were the only customers. The food was way overdone like you were expecting 200 people and had the food in the chafing dish for hours. I got sick on the vodka sauce(maybe leftover from Friday Night’s wedding???) and the food was obviously the frozen stuff from BJ’s Wholesale Club. I have been to the Manor in West Orange… your brunch was like a brunch at a bad diner on a bad day. Save your restaurant and do a food makeover. Won’t see me or any recommendations from me anymore… off my list. PEEEEYOUUUU

Food, overall, subpar. Beets from a can, bland veal dish, soggy, not worth the calories, pastries, flavorless mashed potatoes and bland chicken dish. It was a disappointing meal. We will not be back. Servers were nice, but that does not help with mediocre food. The only tasty thing were the cheese chunks. Get a new chef.

My hubby and I had an excellent time celebrating our 10th Anniversary here! It has a classy, romantic ambiance, the service was very attentive and considerate, and food looked and tasted great! We asked to be seated near the orchestra and they had no trouble accommodating us! We enjoyed dancing to the old love songs on their dance floor! What a lovely evening!

Unfortunately, I have been here twice for private events and both times I was so disappointed. The first time was last year, and I thought they were having an off night, since so many people rave about this place. The food was horrible… tasteless veggies… chewy chicken… mushy pasta… a total insult to Italians everywhere. I was hesitant to return again this year, but was suckered into it… TOTALREPEAT of last year! Same bland food, inedible eggplant, etc. For the price and reputation of this place, they should be embarrassed putting out cuisine like that. We all left hungry and thankfully found a local diner that was great. One good note… wait staff was super nice and courteous… that’s the best that I can say about this place.

We had a perplexing and somewhat offensive evening at the bar at The Stony Hill Inn this past Saturday, May 30. We arrived around 6:00 and sat down. There were several parties going on, which is the norm on a Saturday night. The bar was not as crowded as usual(which was a good thing, as you will soon understand). There was a function in one of the open spaces. To make it «private», a collapsible wall was placed across that section, which was directly adjoining the bar area. It turned out to be a religious ceremony. We found this out when the person performing the ceremony came out and started telling the bar patrons to f***ing shut up. He needed f***ing quiet. This was quite the religious experience for us! Of course, we all looked at him like he was insane. The bar most definitely was not loud and he was lucky that the usual Saturday night crowd was not in attendance. He came out two more times, screaming and cursing, using the«F» word freely. The staff did not know what to do or how to react, but the management actually tried to get the non-party customers, who were also paying money for an enjoyable evening out, to keep it down. They came to us twice at the bar and asked if we were ready to sit down. I can only assume this was an effort to keep down the noise(we were speaking in civilized moderate tones and were not loud or boisterous). We declined both times. We were early for our reservation and in no rush to have the evening be over or rushed. For a large banquet/party location, you would have thought that they would have put them in a room with doors, instead of a folding wall, so that they could have the privacy and quiet that was expected. You also would have thought that the management would apologize to the other paying customers for the behavior and language and maybe even offer to buy a drink for everyone who was scolded for being out and trying to have a nice stress-free night. Nope. It’s a shame when places that specialize in banquet planning fail miserably and then act like its guests are out of line. And, let me reaffirm that the people at the bar were not loud, boisterous or carrying on. We enjoy going to the bar at Stony Hill, but my date felt uncomfortable with the attitude and language and even told me later that she was afraid that things might get physical. This sort of management makes us wary of returning. And that’s too bad.

Dined May 2015. This restaurant is definitely a top one in North Jersey. Food, service, ambiance is always great. Menu has a good selection, though disappointed by the Specials– too many fish entrees. The reason I’m only giving 3 stars is based on the cleanliness of the restroom. I’ve been here a few times and it never seems like the men’s room has been kept tidy. Trash is overflowing. Toilets need attention. I know it’s a small detail, but frankly it’s a turn off for such a classy place.

Came here for an event that was a brunch buffet. There was nothing that really made me say wow. Food was average. Certianly nothing special. The bacon was really really greasy. The only breakfast item I had were the cheese blintzes. I did not enjoy them. As for the lunch items, The pasta at the pasta station was overcooked and mushy. Sauces were bland. I tried the ham from the carving station and it was like rubber. I did like the chicken franchaise. There was a table with cheese and salads. The cheeses were very good, but the caesar salad was soggy. There were also some other cold salads, but I passed on them. The décor was ok. Pretty simple table settings for this event. They put pitchers of orange juice on the tables, but not water, so I had to hunt down wait staff for refills of water. I thought they could have put pitchers on the table for water. Desserts were also ok. Mediocre Italian pastries. Staff was pleasant.

I came here on Christmas Eve. I really didn’t enjoy this place, BUT they did make a kick ass filet mignon. I think the thing that put me off most was the awful service. Our waiter had zero personality and not accommodating when we had questions. They gave me a DINKY salad for $ 10. There was no value on the plate, just leaves of lettuce. The bread was OK. My meal was good, but everyone else thought their food was Meh.

Food was ok, but not nearly good enough to carry the prices given the incredibly rude hostesses and watered down drinks. Came with a large party on thanksgiving for a private room. First they moved our reservation around, which we kindly accommodated. Then the hostess started giving us the«hurry up» signal because they had another party coming about an hour before agreed upon. WILDLY unprofessional: as a hostess, you book enough time and make sure your servers know the timing and keep the pace of the meal going by getting the courses out in a timely fashion, that is NOT your guests responsibility. And the drinks? Ordered an old fashioned, and couldn’t finish it it was so bad and so wrong. That’s a day 1 drink, do better. Genuinely shocked by the treatment and service(not the waiters, they were all great) considering how expensive this place is.

Overall, I’m satisfied with my experience at Stony Hill Inn. The décor is nice — it felt like I was dining at a country club, which makes sense given that it seems it is a popular place for banquets and weddings. I was a bit annoyed with the fact that the dining area was nearly empty, but my party of four was forced to be seated at a cramped table in the corner. There was a much larger table that could have seated 6 in the middle, but they refused our request to sit there. Throughout the entire time from the time we were seated to the time they closed, nobody sat at that table. Overall, the food was pretty good. Given the generous portions, the price was fair. I ordered the chicken marsala and it was good. Chicken was not dry, the marsala sauce was flavorful — overall a very nice meal. The service was very attentive. It was not surprising since it seemed that not many people were there for dinner. I found more people in the bar area than the dining area. If you’re looking for a nice meal out in the area, this is a decent place to go.

Sorry, not impressed. The fish was a bit mushy and served with too few vegetables and too much mashed potatoes. Rice(or angel hair) would have been better. Worst of all, it is usually the rule that restaurant butter always tastes better that what you buy in the supermarket. Not here. The butter was awful! On the plus side, the service was beyond excellent. There was no shortage of willing staff from coat check to waiter. I like that. It should be said here that I am prejudiced by the fact that I remember the Stony Hill Inn when it was Guido’s. I miss Mr. Trevani and the exceptionally high standard he set back in the day.

I’ve been here a few times and I’ve never been disappointed, the food is very consistent. The last time I went here and sat at the bar with my parents. The bartender, Paul, was very attentive. We ordered the lobster ravioli, a fish special and a crab and corn salad. Everything was excellent. The vibe of the restaurant is very upscale, they do weddings, valet, etc. and the inside of the restaurant looks very late 1800s, but I’ve dressed fairly casual and never felt out of place. I would definitely go back here. More of an older crowed/family crowd, not really a young date place, but definitely a great place to go for an anniversary, mom’s birthday or just a family dinner.

I didn’t know that I had such a great restaurant close to my house. Last night for dinner after trying another 2 places where the waiting time was over 50 minutes we stopped here. We were sitter right away and the place looks really nice. Very elegant, with live music, really nice staff and amazing food. It’s a bit pricey but it was amaziiing! I tried lobster ravioli — made there with cheese sauce and before that oysters — that were fresh and tasty. A great place to have a fancy dinner with boyfriend or family. I know I’ll take my family here next month when the will come and visit :)

I had my wedding at Stony Hill Inn last June, and I must admit everything was perfect. The staff was very attentive to all of our needs, as well as, the needs to all of our guests. The food was delicious, and the food served for large parties is just as good as the food served in the restaurant. I’ve also dined at the restaurant for a number of different occasions, and have been to various other parties at the Stony Hill Inn. Everything is always very delicious, and dining at the Stony Hill is always an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be dining there again in the future. When engaging in a dining experience at the Stony Hill at times you may feel like you are the only people in the restaurant, as it is intimate, and usually quiet int he dining room. The grounds are very well kept. The house is beautiful, and the outdoor area has been updated with fire pits for an enjoyable ambiance. The outdoor area is a great place to relax and come for a drink.
