The beer selection is great! The bartenders and wait staff are extremely friendly. However, the food is inconsistent. I tend to leave immediately when the entire bar section smells like fish. I only visit McNally’s for the beer selection.

We have been here in the past and it appears as though this place is sliding downward. The food was not as good this time, flavorless. The time we waited for the food was way too long for being almost completely empty, and to top it off my waitress brought out a completely different meal then I ordered. Will probably not be back anytime soon.

Thursday nights are a must! Cannot beat 1 $ beers and a DJ. Bartenders are friendly and attentive even when the place is packed. Which It does get really packed! Beer pong all on Thursdays is a plus and fun. Also have gone a few times on Tuesday night karaōke which wasn’t too crowded but Mreally fun time

Since my last review of this family dining establishment I had received feedback from other people claiming how good the food and service is, and after serious consideration I decided to give the place a second try and see how it goes. This time I ordered the Chesire Pork Chop with sautéed garlic spinach and gratin potatoes, my wife got the Shepard Pie and French Onion Soup, my mother-in-law ordered the beef stew, and my son went with the grilled cheese sandwich. When the food came out it was hot and very appealing to the eyes but not even close to how great the food tasted. Everyone commented on how delicious their meal and the filling portions. To top it off we had the velvet red cake and apple pie with coffee, each bite was painfully delicious, only because we had already eaten a robust meal. Throughout the evening our waitress provided top notch service and ensured we our experience was pleasant and satisfactory. Nichole did a Fabulous job and deserves 5 stars for professionalism, service, and efficiency. In the end all the things I had heard which compelled me to give this place a second chance proved to be true. And makes me very happy as anyone who lives in the area there are not very many fine family dining restaurants to pick from, but now I have another choice to add to my short selective list of places.

Perfect place for a beer and a burger! We had the Beas plate with wings, lucky bags, potstickers and quesadillas all were awesome, especially the pot stickers! For my entrée I had the mushroom Swiss burger(mw) My friend had the Jameson chicken. The portion was huge and similar to a chicken marsala. I also love that they have manskirt on draft. I love to support the local businesses I just wish he would brew an ipa :)

We have given this place so many chances the food just getting worst each time, the beer is fine the service needs to be improved a lot!!! Seems owner does not care about providing a total experience that is worth the money.

So sad to say today was the worst. The Guiness was great! However no tequila! What decent bar has only 1800 and Jose Q. Reason, it was Halloween! Really! Really! It was 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Then the food. The corned beef sandwich was the size of a sampler. The chicken wings were not their usual deep fried. But fried chicken wings! The chicken soup was tasteless, and no chicken! I promote Bea’s, but sorry to say won’t do that again! Hopefully you will step up! Ok so I went back to Bea’s yesterday. Pleased to say, yes we have Tequila! Only had the truffle fries, I LOVETHESE!!! And the Guinness was superb., as always. I am looking forward to actually trying some soup soon. I do miss the Beet salad that used to be on the menu.

My wife and I went for an early lunch on a football Sunday. My wife had the buffalo chicken wrap which she thought was very good with good spice. I had the Bea Turkey Club and loved it. There was a good beer selection on draft and my wife had a mimosa which she said had too much Oj. The atmosphere was nice and the football crowd was filling in for the football games on a Sunday because the bar had all of the NFL games on. We will definitely be back to sit at the big bar and catch a football Sunday!

My second review is much better than my first review. I still believe this place is too expensive but with a good environment, food, and drinks I can understand why. I had the Irish Pizza which was really good and had a little kick to it which I liked. The beer I had was incredible. A very good Pumpkin beer, I can’t remember the name exactly but it was something like a pumpkin UFO beer. Went here a few times this past week also for dollar beers on Thursday. Which was a blast. Tuesday my friends and I did Karaōke which was interesting and Saturday was a good time at the bar. Still way too many underage people in the bar but whatever it makes the bar more fun with more people.

Miller Lite on tap was 86’d but the bartender, Dempsey, kept our glasses full with ice cold Miller in a bottle until the taps came back online. The Happy Hour ½ price apps were delicious and Dempsey kept our glasses(and plates) full as he worked his way around the bar and tables cheerfully and expertly. My wife and I have been to Bea McNally’s several times in the past year and we are definitely looking forward to going back, soon, again. We both hope Dempsey is patrolling the bar on our next visit!

Nice well laid out premises. Located in Hackettstown, home to Centenary Collage, M and Mars and Greene’s Beans. Friendly staff, stellar service. Good food, well prepared. I had the fish and chips(I always have the fish and chips). Nicely done and crispy. Good beverage selection. Take a drive in the country and respite here.

Was at this place today and saw a gentleman across the bar move to a booth and begin to vomit in the table, himself and the floor. We told the bar tender immediately and ten minutes passed before someone came to his assistance. In the meantime he vomited several times more times. The person spoke with him and left him there for another fifteen minutes wile he vomited more. They finally came back to him and moved him from the area. We stayed another fifteen minute and they still did not clean up the area! We will never go back there again…

Go for the beer, skip the food. I’ve tried and tried again as I really want to like this place. Repeatedly a disappointment. Salads are about the only thing I haven’t hated. If you do eat, don’t ask for extra sauce or the like unless you’re willing to pay for it.

We really wanted to like this place. When we arrived, we were so impressed. It’s a lovely space, very clean and up to date. Not at all what I was expecting. The service was excellent. Attentive and friendly. She made our 3 year old smile and flirt. The drinks were delicious. The beer selection was excellent. What disappointed? The food? Really and unfortunately. I ordered the lollipop lamp chops. They were cooked correctly but had a strange plastic taste. They were unevenly sized so some were perfect while others were raw. Still can’t get that strange charred plastic taste out of my mouth. What was it? The mussels appetizer arrived. The plate was HOT but the mussels and broth were barely warm. Does that mean they were microwaved? If so, it takes 5 minutes to cook mussels. What is worse is that the broth wasn’t finished. The taste of the broth was clearly raw wine. You have to cook the wine down to get a decent flavor. #amateur The kid got macaroni and cheese and wouldn’t eat it. I tasted it and it was BLAND and UNSEASONED. Who serves mac and cheese without any salt? It was not cheap and for the prices, they really should hire a chef that controls the food quality. Was quite disappointed with the kitchen here.

3 of us stopped in for lunch and were quite impressed. We ordered the blue cheese fries and calamari for lunch. Both were truly outstanding! Delicious! I had the crab cakes and they were quite good. Service was satisfactory. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

We’ve been back a couple of times — only for lunch. It’s usually after errands and always sit in the bar area. We have learned that the kitchen runs«hot and cold». Sometimes if really good and sometimes we wonder if there’s a problem. Best examples; I love a good Ruben — sometimes the corned beef is really tender and sometimes it’s chewy, the bread is a marble rye and away fresh, the cheese and sauerkraut are always tasty, another favorite the onion soup — the taste is consistent but sometimes it’s a bowl of broth with a couple of onions, other times tons of onions however the cheese is always delicious. The salads are good — I love the wedge, which I’ve never had a problem with and my husband likes the salads with grilled chicken, which are also good. We keep going back because it isn’t bad its just inconsistent, but not all the time… inconsistently inconsistent :)

All I have to say is WOW!!! Stopped in after a music show at the college about 4 weeks ago. Wish I could remember the waiter’s name because this guy was friggin awesome. Very polite, quick, and made great suggestions. He had one of those beards all guys are growing now, but he was probably the best waiter I’ve seen in years. I ordered the mussels which were great. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. I love pot pies, so figured I’d try it. Their pot pie was very different though. In a good way. Instead of the crust encompassing the contents of the chicken and vegs, the crust was resting on top of the dish separately from the chicken and vegetables like a big puffy ball. This was really cool looking and was extremely delicious. A very different twist visually. Was ready to go, but the waiter asked if I wanted dessert. I said no, but he insisted and said we have a really good soda bread pudding. Soda bread pudding??? Never heard of bread pudding made with soda bread. I don’t like soda bread, but he pressed me and said, «Its really good.» Man was this shit GOOOODDDDD… It was friggin excellent. I could have eaten 10 pieces of this stuff. Great food, great waiter, great experience!!! Oh yeah and one more thing since I’m always railing about how fast the food comes out. Literally under 6 mins. Great service guys!!! Top notch place and will definitely go back. Even the band was good.

Bea McNally’s. The former Clarendon Hotel/Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse. A charming, picturesque, landmark building oozing history and tales of old. Legend has it, this place used to be a brothel and some ghosts roam around upstairs on the 3rd floor which is sealed off from the public. I’m sure these walls could talk! But, I digress. Some investors clearly swooped in and turned this place into a hopping, modern Irish pub where local hipsters, former grunge rockers from the 1990’s and your grandparents can come to get a bite to eat and wet their whistle. I was visiting my Mom over New Years and looked in the local paper; Bea’s had a pretty solid NYE deal advertised for a four course dinner which included one beer or cocktail with a champagne toast for $ 49.95. Also for our listening pleasure, The Quimby Mountain Band is included in the deal — SCORE. I make a reservation for 7 p.m. Didn’t really need one — the place was pretty much empty when we rolled up to the private parking lot. The hostess sat us near a crackling fireplace just below the bar. This place is gigantic and beautifully renovated with a centrally located bar large enough to seat about 50 people. Our menu selection includes four courses — soup or salad, appetizer, main entrée and dessert. Being 20 degrees outside we decide to select one of the soups with our options being traditional French onion, lobster bisque and beer cheese. Mom ordered the French onion and I decided against the lobster bisque and opted for the beer cheese soup with the pretzel bread for dipping. I was not impressed. First of all, way too much salt and the consistency was not smooth and somewhat gritty. It was more of a «dip» and not a soup. The soup did not arrive with the much anticipated pretzel bread. I had to ask for it. The waitress brings me two tiny pieces of pretzel bread on a small plate — barely two bites. I push the unfinished soup aside and hope the meal gets better — and thankfully — it does. For the appetizer, Mom orders the shrimp cocktail and I order the lobster tail on top of truffled mashed potatoes. I got the nod of approval from my mother on the shrimp and I dove into the interesting combination of lobster/potato. I have to say, it was surprisingly GOOD. Didn’t not think these two would go together so well. For the main course, we rule out the lamb, swordfish and beef option and stick with the seared scallop sitting atop of Irish boxty(think potato pancake) with wilted greens, drizzle of truffle oil and a rasher(thick bacon) sticking out of each scallop as a garnish. The plate was garnished beautifully and smelled divine. I cut into the large sea scallop and it’s cooked perfectly(YAY). This is a dish they should keep on the menu and I’d come back to order again. PLEASE keep this on your menu. For dessert, I decided against the chocolate option and went for the bourbon bread pudding. It was just OK — too dry, too bready and I think they forgot about the bourbon. After polishing off our meal, it was time to toss a few back and wait for the ball to drop. We wrap things up in the dining room and head up to the bar just in time to take over two stellar seats right on the corner. The band is awesome — the lead singer is Johnny Depp’s doppelgänger — it’s kind of creepy. They have a country western flavor, with a little Sublime and funk mixed in. The bar starts to fill up, but the bartenders don’t miss a beat. They keep the drinks coming. The beer starts working on my Mom who is clearly a lightweight. She starts flirting it up with the hipster guys in the room and I know it’s time for the countdown and then to call it a night. I have to say, Bea’s was a good time. They need to work on their consistency in the kitchen, but otherwise it is probably one of the nicest places to hang out in this small town. I plan to check them out again this summer.

Excellent service, but the food is hit or miss. My only qualm with this place is you need to be sitting at the actually bar in order to get happy hour specials, even when there are no seats and tables in the bar section are available… :’(

Went here with my parents, they couldn’t remember the name of the bar they went to that they loved in Hackettstown. Looked up the pubs there, found the name, but that it had a TERRIBLE rating on Unilocal. My parents told me they had a great time and great food there, I figured I have a strong stomach, so why not try it. OK, I’m not gonna say this was world-class food, but as far as pub far goes it was pretty good. We had the appetizer sampler platter where you get to pick 4, it was HUGE! Everything was great, but special mention to the corned beef/cabbage/potato wontons. Fun stuff. I had a cheddar burger that was cooked perfectly medium rare and my parents both got reubens. All of us enjoyed our meals. The service was exceptionally attentive and friendly almost to a fault lol, not only from our server, but we also had a manager pop by and make sure everything was going good for us. I’m not sure what place the other Unilocalers were at, but I was at Bea McNallys for the first time myself and it was nice. I’d return if I find myself in Hackettstown again. Who knows, maybe the all the Unilocal reviews are getting to them haha.
