Started off with the miso soup, it was amazing! My wife and I shared some sushi it was excellent. I had bulgogi, the meat was tender and sweet. I would definitely recommend the dynamite and M&M rolls — they are show stoppers.

Great miso soup, my favorite kind of Asian ginger salad dressing, super fresh tempura AND a California roll without mayonnaise mixed with the kanikama! Really great find! Only complaint would be the wasabi wasn’t very hot but otherwise very fresh and very tasty!

Sushi connoisseurs rejoice! I’ve tried every Japanese spot within 20 miles and this place is an absolute gem– they continue to top my list. The food: In one word: FRESH. It’s easy to mask the taste of fishiness by drowning a roll in spicy mayo. The true test is with sashimi, and they get an A++. Skillfully cut, presented and delicious. The salmon cuts like butter and is my favorite. I love their special rolls too, especially the ones with layered fish on top(no skimping here!). It’s hard for me to stray from their sushi menu but their cooked menu is equally delicious. All of our family’s birthday dinners are here so I’ve had the opportunity to try a lot off their menu. Can’t go wrong with the yakisoba noodle dish or the salmon teriyaki. As for apps try the beef negamaki and the tempura soft shell crab it’s incredible with a side of eel sauce and/or spicy mayo. The service: Tasteful Japanese accents in a clean, welcoming atmosphere. They’re run by a husband/head sushi chef and wife/manager who is always catching up with patrons(regulars are a sign of consistently good food and service). They’re total sweethearts and you can tell they really want every person who walks in to have a great meal. One time at lunch with a friend the sushi chef sent us a plate of bite size tamago(egg) sashimi for the baby who happily gobbled it up. They also pack take-out orders like pros(cardboard layers to separate hot and cold items). The price: More than reasonable for the quality of food and the fact that they are BYOB is the cherry on top. They uncork and provide ice buckets. Thankfully, I never feel rushed when I stay longer to finish my drinks. My last two cents: I once stopped in while they were closing(I know, I was being that guy) but they happily served me even though I insisted they shouldn’t. I asked for a miso soup but the manager apologized and said that they discard the miso soup before closing so that they can provide fresh batches every day– old soup can taste watery. I appreciate a place that cares about what they serve. :)

This place is simply awesome, even after a dozen or so visits. Be sure to try the Korean dishes, which besides the sushi are outstanding!

I’m not sure if this place is under new management, but quality seems to have slipped in the past 6 months. The sushi itself is still very good(you can’t go wrong with old classics like a salmon avocado roll or a yellowtail scallion roll), but non-sushi items are less than great. The tempura in the bento box is not real tempura, but a glutinous mass of fried veggies mushed together. The dressing on the salad is too sweet and too strange to be a classic ginger dressing you get at a typical Japanese place; the tofu in the miso soup was strangely dense, and the broth not nearly flavorful or warm enough. Again, if you’re just going for the sushi itself, you’re still getting a good deal– but all the little trimmings that have slipped make Fujiyama a better option.

This is a sweet little place run lovingly by the sushi chef and his wife. The fish is absolutely fresh and delicious. The salads, appetizers and special rolls are creative and yummy. We eat here every week without fail. We continue to be impressed by their commitment to their product. Very friendly too!

Quick review: Reasonably priced Japanese restaurant with good food in your hometown. I’m not sure why this place has negative reviews. I was quite pleased. Although I can’t speak for the sushi, I thought their entrees were tasty and reasonably priced(especially considering your other choices in the area). I had the Nabeyaki Udon Soup, and there was plenty of meat and noodles to go around. I came for dinner on a weekday with a friend and our food was ready in about 10 minutes. I really liked all the art on the walls too. I’ll definitely be back.

The crunch ball and pepper bomb are awesome. It’s a BYOB which is awesome. The service is VERY slow even when the place is empty. n worth a try if your patient!

I ordered a salad and Miso soup, spicy tuna roll and a korean pork specialty for carry out. I was not all that impressed overall. The ginger dressing for the salad was good. The sushi nearly fell apart and the pork entrée was nothing special especially for $ 18. this is a new restaurant so it may take a couple tries to get everything right. I thought the service was great and very helpful. I will give it another shot in a few weeks.
