Service wasn’t bad. Very polite women who served us. I was not impressed with the food though. I ordered the Linguine Pescatore and while the sauce was very delicious and pasta cooked very well the scallops were very rubbery and the shrimp was all cold except for one piece. For a restaurant that prides itself on pizza and«fine Italian dishes» I am far from impressed with my dish. I’d prob come back for pizza but definitely won’t be ordering anything that involves a dish with seafood. Shouldn’t have to pay almost 20 $ for a improperly cooked dish.

Good local place with great drinks! We will definitely be back there soon, I feel like some people on Unilocal are too critical.

Wife and me went to haddam Pizza food was good their Calamari was crispy and delicious as was their House Pizza. service was good This was our first time here and we will be back. Wife also had a lemon drop martini which was good. I feel like people are too picky sometimes on Unilocal.Enjoy the experience.

Would give ½ star if possible gone down hill since new owners… went there for dinner tonight got there before the rush… ordered steaks I asked for mine medium came out medium rare my boyfriend asked for his medium Well came out again medium rare would have gotten them cooked more but server was no where to be found when she finally came my daughter was done ready to go… manager asked us if we wanted a new dish but I have a 4 year old ready to leave told us we could get our food free next time we come back but this was our last chance there… ending spending 80 no discount or anything never returning… Over all Very disappointed in Haddam Pizza.

There was no cell reception in this area to check Unilocal before stopping for dinner at this restaurant. Only wish I had read the reviews prior to spending my money here. To start with, the service was just plain poor. An unhappy waitress that was totally disinterested in her patrons. She actually made a face when asked about some of the menu items. Pizza was a notch better than frozen generic brand from Stop and Shop. Chicken marsala was terrible. Rolls were stale. I’ll end with a few positive observations– clean restaurant and easy parking. Lack of cars on a Saturday night should have been the first warning sign.

Well for me, Haddam Pizza is one of those places you go to when you just feel lazy and don’t want to drive much. But the quality of food is hit or miss most times. I usually order take away pizza or grinders which are a good value and at an acceptable quality. But they times they mess up the order like when I ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza and got a chicken broccoli pizza. This is the second best pizza in town in my opinion.

It must be nice being a local. What we have here is your typical red sauce joint aspiring to be more. And what they do, they do very well. It’s honest, gets the job done, and is nothing to complain about. But, and if you’ve read any of my other reviews you know this is something that sets me off, the service is horrible. If you are a stranger in this strange land you will wait much longer than you should have to between check ins, refills, and getting your bill. Unless you are local. Then you get fantastic service, friendly people, and the world at the expense of all others that have not had the fortune of purchasing a residence nearby. I sat for ten minutes for the bartender finish a story to people sitting in front of her before my presence was acknowledged.(There were five people at the bar, including me.). I’ve never had a waiter/waitress greet me. I’ve frequented this place many times in the past five years, as I often work nearby. The story is always the same. There’s not much in the name of food in the immediate area, which recalls the old adage: location, location, location. When you’re one of the only games in town, you don’t have to be good. I don’t want to pan this place because the food is honest. They can just do a much better job of taking care of people.

You never know what you’re going to get. Just not great food, and worse service. Sometimes the pizza has been pretty good, but mostly not. I primarily stop in for a drink once in a while. I’ve been approximately twenty times in the past year. The bartenders never remember me, and are usually inattentive.(Unless you are a local landscaper that flirts with them and leaves them exorbitant tips.) There are a couple of bartenders that are very professional and nice, but the others just ruin it, and you never know who you’re going to get. The service is less than satisfactory, and I’ve been treated rudely for no reason on a number of occasions. Also, the drinks are inexplicably expensive. Unless you’re really in dire straits, don’t go here. You’ll probably leave pissed off. I feel a little bad posting this, because there are a couple of bartenders that are really super and professional and friendly, but the others ruin the entire atmosphere of the place.

I lived in Italy for two years and the first thing that happened when I got back to the states was I realized how crappy the pizza at chain restaurants was. Then I found Haddam Pizza. As long as I live close enough to order from them, this is the only place I’ll buy pizza from. If you’re a pizza fan, check them out, you won’t be sorry.

This is simply a local bar. They serve their full menu at the bar, and for me, that’s just what to do… have a drink and munch at the bar. I’ve been here a dozen plus times, and usually I see one or two tables full near the fireplace. From my perch beer in hand, I can tell it’s not the place to come for full table service. That’s all. At the bar, it is friendly enough and as others have said, very much a local place. Many people on a first-name basis who seem to have grown up together. No big deal. Their pizza is really pretty good. I look forward to it once a week. Their Greek salad is fair — I’d call it a very nice salad but not truly a Greek salad, although there is some feta in there. I’ve had one or two other dishes that were fine, but not fine dining by any stretch. Usually it’s a couple of beers, the salad and a fresh pie at the bar. I find it a reliable, friendly place open at all hours where I can have a cold beer and eat a simple meal with it. Works for me.

Been to this restaurant several times. waitstaff is always friendly but sometimes a little shorthanded but the food makes up for that. we’ ve tried pizza, pasta dishes, grinders, appetizers, antipasto, steak etc, everything has always been cooked just right. drinks are good and the dining area with fireplace is nice. p

Went to Haddam Pizza for lunch on Saturday with family. My grandmother’s co-worker has been telling her that they have great seafood there(with an implication that they have large portions of fried seafood). I was a little disappointed because they do have fried seafood there, but not a huge variety(fish and chips and something else — no clams or fried shrimp). They have a wider variety of seafood pasta dishes. I think the owner/manager told us we could sit in the back by the fireplace. That was lovely. My family pushed together a couple of tables and we had a fireside lunch. It was very nice. But service was slow. The poor waitress was running up and down the restaurant to serve everyone. We got some garlic knots while we waited though, which were good. I got the Grilled Steak and Fries lunch special($ 9.95). I asked for it medium, but it came medium well/well-done. The service was so slow and the outside had a nice, yummy char, so I didn’t send it back. The french fries were very good and plentiful. The rest of my party had a tuna club(good), cheeseburger(good), fish and chips(good) and seafood stuffed mushrooms(good). So, we all enjoyed ourselves but we weren’t blown away. No one had pizza so, I can’t speak to that. If there’s one thing that Higganum/Haddam has too much of, it’s pizza. And I prefer to get my pizza from Jerry’s. The bar did look really nice, but they should add some more TVs for better sports entertainment. If they did, I bet you could find myself and my husband there on Sunday afternoons. Though perhaps it’s busy enough the rest of the year without that?

I’ve actually never been to Haddam Pizza for Pizza because it’s a relatively new restaurant in town. But I’ve been there for the bar and it’s a pretty cool place. Pretty non-descript, but a decent townie bar.
