Decided to see what Hagerstown nightlife had to offer. Ava was listed and a friend and I wanted to check it out. It’s a Saturday night and we show up around 9pm. Only one person besides the bartenders in the joint. Bartender tells us it normally gets going around 10 – 11. Come back around 10:30 and the only thing they managed to do was add a «bouncer» and a dj. Besides the fact that the«bounce» hung out with the staff behind the bar, the dj couldn’t decide on what music he wanted to play and then ultimately decided to play a slew of random jams with an occasional hit. Won’t be making my way back to this place again. Night sucked.

There have been reported stabbings here, so I try to avoid AVA at all costs. I went here for a fundraiser and it was one of the worst nights out I have ever had. When you walk in, AVA has these beaded curtains that separate the lounge areas from the bar and dance floor. My friend and I were standing by them and she says to me, «These would be cool to craft with.» We both proceeded to touch said beads. I tried to say something about them to my friend, but the DJ(who looked like a leprechaun) was assaulting my ears with a weird CCR-infused go-go remix. It was so Hagerstown. Anyway, she shouted, «What? You wish you had a hot dude for these?» I shook my head and said, «No, I wish I had some HOTGLUE for these.» Not the best place to discuss crafting, but a good place to dance with no discussion. I tried to retreat to the back patio, but was met with huge cigarette smoke clouds swirling around the twinkle lights. If you go for guys who have their favorite football team tattooed to their bodies or like to dance with girls who twerk to Carrie Underwood, AVA is definitely the night spot for you. Especially if you like knife fights. The stars are for the beads.
