A heavy workout at the gym immediately followed by a red-eye flight cross-country, someone’s crying newborn onboard, got me aching for whatever massage therapy I could get the morning I arrived in town to visit my parents. I called all the places I found on Unilocal, but they were all fully booked for the day. I saw Eclipse, but it had zero reviews, and I was hesitant at first. I searched for more viable options before finally deciding to give it a whirl. The receptionist sounded very friendly and asked if I wanted a male or female therapist. I said I didn’t care and was able to make an appointment for 60 minutes of deep tissue that afternoon. I didn’t expect much, given that it seemed to be the only place that wasn’t busy, and I was desperate for a half-decent massage. I underestimated it even more when I got to the parking lot. It was in a big commercial complex and looked almost too vanilla to be a sophisticated spa. It kind of reminded me of many Massage Envy locations from the outside. Plus, there were barely any cars parked close by. When I entered, I was quickly greeted by the pleasant receptionist I had spoken to on the phone. She checked me in and showed me to the impeccably neat locker room, where a key, a nicely folded XL robe, and a pair of rubber slippers were waiting for me. She instructed me to go into the quiet room after changing and locking my belongings in, soak my feet in the basin they have prepared for me, fill out a form, and wait for my therapist, Michael. Michael shook my hand when he came to meet me, took my form, and then salted and scrubbed my feet. It felt really awkward and strange. It wasn’t anything I’d seen an LMP do before — and I’d gotten many massages. I could’ve done away without it. The actual full-body massage, though? PHENOMENAL. He asked me about any particularly sore areas first, and then he went to work. With calming piano instrumentals playing in the background, he worked through my knots with serious pressure but remained sensitive to my pain levels, too, at all times. In truth, 60 minutes wasn’t enough to get me all straightened out(because I have so much muscle tightness from doing day-to-day things that it would take more than just one massage session to fix me completely), but he did the best job he could within an hour, and it felt like a different day afterwards! I felt like a million bucks. He also gave me a tour of the facility. Apparently, it had just opened within the last 3 months. The facility is really clean and serene and had a straightforward layout. He said it’s the only spa in town that has an actual room for couples massages(other spas don’t have the space to put two massage tables in one room). They also have designated rooms for facial and waxing. Up front, by the entrance, they do hair. The hourly rate for a deep tissue is $ 95, which is within the range I expected. I’m really excited to have discovered this spa. My dad was also given a tour when he got in a little early to pick me up, and he was excited, too. He knew my mom would love to go sometime.
