One of the few times a business has gotten their act together and hits it out of the park. Okay, perhaps that is an exaggeration but Willie and Red’s is good. We have returned and pleasantly pleased. My favorite is the cajun shrimp while my husband enjoys their pub food of sandwiches and onion straws. Give it a whirl.

Had a great family get together meal at Willie and Reds last night. They had some of the old favorites on the buffet and some new entrees like toasted ravioli and a delicious corn casserole. Had not been there in a few years but the restaurant looks good. They modernized the place while keeping a certain«Welliver-ness» for those of us that have been going there for years. Bottom line: we enjoyed our visit and will look for an excuse to make the 90 minute drive back to Willie and Red’s.

I don’t think it’s as good as when it was Haggerstown Buffet. We also went on an off time around 2:30 where things might have been in between the lunch and dinner menu and been out a little longer. But, if you like buffets it’s pretty good. I love their cheesball and their hashbrown casserole.

Puting this on my list of places that I don’t go. Such as: Golden Corral, White Castle and dog fights. Service was… What service? Didn“t get any service. Food was between bad and un eadable. If you like well done dry roast beef, popcorn shrimp with lots breading. Then you won’t mind paying $ 36.25 for two people. p

So disappointed, just ok food, some was not ok. The chicken livers used to be moist and delicious, now they are dry and chewy. The yummy cinnamon bread is hard and stale. Don’t waste your time or money. Waitress forgot about us, we had to ask twice for something to drink. Guy Welliver would never eat here!!!

My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. The food was pretty decent, the prices were good, it was very clean, and the water wheel room was a really unique atmosphere! We enjoyed the mashed potatoes, and the roast was very tender and delicious. The house dressing was also very good! The macaroni and cheese was a bit bland and chewy though. The hostess was friendly, however our waitress, J.V., was very rude and ignored us a few times when we spoke to her. Aside from her, we had a pretty good experience.

Food is mediocre at best. Except the blue cheese dressing, which is excellent. Some of the staff is friendly, a few are questionable, and the new owner is absolutely rude. Will not be returning.

Food was average… Hostess wasn’t friendly or helpful. She didn’t smile or make eye contact. Service was nonexistent. Had to ask other servers for refills and napkins.

I have eaten at this location the last 30 odd years. Notice I say location because I have eaten here under the oldest owners, older owners and now the current. Thus, I fancy myself somewhat of an authority on the question of the food and service here at the now location. The staff has changed some, yet some of the most pleasant smililing faces are still the same such as Dave in the bar. Dave always is friendly as well as an excellent bartender. I do not know the names of the kitchen staff but presume many are long timers since many of the menu items are unchanged from the last 30+ years such as the Chicken Livers w/green onions… need I say more! Where else do you still get free delicious cheeseball and relish tray!!!

I don’t know why the reviews aren’t better for this really fine buffet. This is as about good as country(and comfort) food gets. Everything is fresh, expertly prepared, and somehow kept from suffering the reduction in quality so often found on buffets. The salad bar is SO good. My husband and I are vegetarian, and we found plenty of delicious dishes to choose from. The $ 38 bill for the two of us is considerably less than we typically spend for a good dinner out in the Indianapolis area. We ate here when it was Guy Welliver’s, and the quality of the food is just as good now that it’s Willie and Red’s. I don’t know what the lousy reviews are about – unless the reviewers just expected it to be mediocre because of the press that followed in the wake of the difficulties that preceded its transfer of ownership. In short, if you find yourself anywhere near Hagerstown, don’t miss Willie and Red’s.(We drive 45 miles, from Fishers, to eat here.) They absolutely deserve your business, and you won’t find better Midwestern home-style food anywhere.

We ate here obe last time before our move. We had brunch. It was $ 62.00 for 2 adults and 3 kids. We had 12 ppl at our table. The food quality has went down greatly since it were Welliver’s. However they were veey accomodating and friendly. I would say their service is 5 stars. And honstly I wouldn’t mind the prices if the food was better. I do not want to be to harsh on them but so feel if they are going to charge these prices they need to get back to traditional Welliver recipes.

It’s an all-you-can-eat buffet(although you can also order from the menu). The salad bar is pretty nice. The fried chicken and«prime rib» are just fine. The pasta in the macaroni and cheese is so overcooked, it has no consistency at all. Many of the sides are drenched in cheese; none are particularly good. The dessert is abysmal.

Never been here before and for a local place I was pleasantly surprised! Lots of Hoosier comfort foods! A great way to end our trip to Indiana. Very well done and the facility is obviously recently renovated and fresh. I was nervous at the thought of a buffet– having experienced the bovine preference for quantity over quality that usually accompanies such affairs. This was a bit more genteel, the food was better, and I left satisfied rather than feeling I needed a shower. Décor is a bit confused but real effort has been made.

My parents and I went to Willie & Red’s last night for dinner. I hadn’t been there in a few years and was looking forward to it because I remember really enjoying myself last time. First of all, their free cheeseball is so good. I love cheeseball and I love all you can eat cheeseball, so you know I was stopping by that station several times during dinner! They also give you complimentary taco dip and chips and veggies and dip. I liked both of those, but wish there would’ve been more because we ate it in about 5 seconds. My mom and I both ordered herb-crusted salmon with a house salad and a baked potato, and my dad ordered pork chops with a house salad and a baked potato. Willie & Red’s makes their own blue cheese and ranch dressing in-house, so I suggest getting that because it was deeelicious. Unfortunately, my salmon didn’t live up to my expectations. It came with two dipping sauces, a dill sauce and a wasabi sauce, and I’m really glad it did because it was very, very dry and a bit tasteless. The baked potato however was really good — it had a bunch of salt on the outside which I love. Overall, Willie & Red’s was good. I like the atmosphere, our waitress was good, I like all the complimentary appetizers. I wish though that the salmon would’ve been better, but I would definitely go back and try something else. Perhaps the fried chicken?

Not worth $ 17 each. Not sure about this place. The quality of food is lacking …
