Homestyle Chicken N Fish

Absolute best gizzards ever! Every time I drive out to Haines City from Ocala I have to stop and get some. Best sweet tea too! Always worth the trip!

This place never disappoints me EVER! it doesn’t look like a nice place to eat on the outside, but trust me when i tell you the food is amazing, they have the best Mashed potatoes i have ever tastes outside my moms kitchen, the chicken is delicious, the shrimp is great and the catfish is moist and amazing! They carry everything from macaroni and cheese, to chicken gizzards if thats your thing!

From the outside, this place doesn’t look like much, but the catfish, fried okra and fried shrimp are incredible… and priced reasonably. The only. reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the food is cooked to order, it takes. a while. But it’s still worth it to plan a trip. here

After recently moving into the area we heard about Homestyle Chicken and Fish.
We tried the catfish, Chicken and chicken livers.
The Catfish was not greasy, moist and flakey. I got the catfish dinner with collard greens and Mac n cheese. It was ‘downhome’ cooking!
The Chicken Livers were hot, cooked fresh… not dry and very tasty… and didn’t make it home!
You can get them by the half-​pound or pound.
As everything is cooked to order, I waited about 10 to 15 minutes, which was fine by me.
Service was friendly as the business is run by a local Christian couple evidenced by the religious signage.
Very homey and just plain good food!
Place isn’t fancy, so if you want fancy go elsewhere.
But if you want your Grandma’s or Mama’s cooking… This is the place!

For some time now, every time I go in, I have to wait at less 15 minutes for chicken. Showed up today at 4:00pm and no chicken. And for the second time in a row, they screwed up my order. No more, I am going to Publix instead from now on for chicken!!!

For the Gizzard lover, this is the place to go to. I searched all over Winter Haven looking for a place like this until a co-​worker mentioned it. Like the sign says out front «home of the tender gizzard». They are not lying! By far the best GIZZARD you will have. Corn fritters are amazing as well. I always stop by on my way home from work on my Friday. Very affordable, clean and awesome customer service! Check them out!

I’m surprised there isn’t a review here yet. My husband told me about this place for years and when we relocated back to his hometown it was the first place he took me. The gizzards are so tender and delicious. The corn fritters here are absolutely amazing (that’s a lot coming from me as I have had a problem with corn since one of my male friends made dinner for me 10 years ago). The okra is delicious (I love okra but it was so hard to get up north). The place is small but the service is phenomenal and welcoming. Their wings are very tasty as well. The catfish is really tasty and they give you healthy-​sized fillets. The fries aren’t that great, but I can easily forgive that when there are so many delicious things to choose from. Their sweet tea is very good (not too sweet, just right). The building is old, but clean and well-​kept. We will be coming back when I get the itch for gizzards.
