Happy’s Hawai’i Green Catering

After about a year trying to get a booking with Lan, we are so excited that we had a date set! Lunch was fabulous, fresh, unique and has a local, vietnamese and Pacific rim taste. I highly recommend Lan for your catering needs!

I am accustomed to throwing parties for everyone else, but myself. I decided to celebrate my 50^th on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu by watching the Sunset at Sunset Beach with my closest family and friends. Of course, food is a big part of any celebration… I wanted the experience to be memorable for my guests. Lan met and exceded my expectations.
The menu she customized for my event (though small — party of 10) was simply «perfect». The variety was just right… but the best part of all was the incredible FOOD. «WOW!» so amazing! My guests all had their own favorite, but all raved about how good EVERYTHING was. Lan was even kind enough to recommend a pastry chef for my cake (also amazing) I especially appreciated being able to find a caterer who provided the freshest, organic options.
I would recommend Lan and Happy’s Hawai’i with no hesitations whatsoever!!!

Everything is sooooooo delicious, fresh, and colorful. Lan, the owner and chef, is a creative mastermind and her delivery celebrates the whole process of growing, preparing, and consuming food. I have a feeling Happy’s is one of those magical gems that won’t be around forever, not because it isn’t in high demand, but because the owner is one of those people that lives a thousand lives — if you have the chance to book her, then you is lucky’s.

Lan coordinated our outdoor wedding in November 2013. Not only was she the same day coordinator for all our vendors, she created our overall outdoor décor and catered the appetizers during cocktail hour. Lan’s creativity and artistic ability made our wedding MAGICAL. Imagine being married under an enchanted tree with beautiful hanging orchids, trays of mini-​cups of mouthwatering ceviche passed around during cocktail hour, tables beautifully decorated with succulents and candles… Everyone was BLOWN away. I can’t imagine our wedding without Lan. I couldn’t have ever envisioned it to be so beautiful. She took care of all the vendors so I didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Lan has a ton of talent and will be able to create your own magic to suit your needs.

Lan and her amazing staff catered our October wedding last month after I had met her a few times at the Haliewa Farmers Market. Not only was I blown away by the spring rolls and avocado dream boats at the market, but I was impressed that Lan STANDS for something. She uses as much local, organic produce as possible and combines her Vietnamese heritage into a modern, creative, unique, delicious smörgåsbord of food. So she catered our wedding of about 60 people, as well as handled the bartending. And here’s what happened.
The food BLEW. OUR. MIND.
People were in absolute complete catatonic SHOCK at how insanely DELICIOUS everything was. The presentation was impeccable — the service was fabulous — and the food was PSYCHOTICALLY good.
I’m not exaggerating in the least.
We threw an amazing wedding — with creative touches from start to finish — and all kinds of amazing activities for our out-​of-​town guests, from glider rides to ropes courses, to a color powder fight on the beach. .. etc.
And yet — several weeks after the wedding — guess what people are STILL complementing me on?
Yep.
The Food.
We had TWO gourmet chefs in our wedding party — both of whom were blown away by Lan’s food.
From creamy coconut ginger potatoes, to Mama Thai’s noodles, to avocado poke crisps that I STILL dream about, to a delicious ginger-​limeade, to PERFECTLY cooked Mahi (no easy task for a luncheon of 60) — it was just absolute heaven on a plate.
Our dream food for our wedding was local, organic asian fusion — and Lan made it happen on a level we never could have imagined.
She puts her absolute heart and soul into the food and we are two people who take food, and the importance of eating and buying LOCALLY grown food, very seriously. We couldn’t possibly praise her enough. Her food MADE our event and represented so many things that we care about.
It was so good, in fact, that during the break between the lunch and the reception — my husband and I had a second plate made for us to eat in the bridal suite, just the two of us. It was THAT good.
She was just an absolute joy to work with from start to finish — from pricing to creativity — to flavor — to presentation — to service — to work ethic (She stayed all. day. long. and did far more than we asked or expected.) She and her staff are simply top notch.
AND she was the most reasonably priced caterer we worked with.
If you are looking for someone to bring local SOUL, FLAVOR, ethics, creativity, sustainability, passion, service, style, class and did I mention FLAVOR to your event — look no further.
Working with Lan was one of the BEST decisions we made on one of the most important days of our lives.
Go see her. Try her delicious food.
And if you are having an event — do not hesitate.
It does not get better.
It just doesn’t.
