Go to this beach if you want to hang out with locals drinking beer and smoking marijuana. You Be sure to wear shoes so you don’t step in dog poo from the strays. Also beware of the homeless population lurking in the woods waiting to rummage through the lunch you packed.

Absolutely gorgeous beach! Great place to see turtles and catch small waves to surf. There are lots of rocks there, so water shoes are recommended.

This is a good spot to learn surfing for beginners up in North Shore. I came here during the time when the rest of North Shore was picking up big waves but this place stayed low enough for the inexperience boarders like myself to enjoy surfing up here. Parking for this part of the beach is small compared to Haleiwa Beach parking lot. Luckily Haleiwa’s parking lot isn’t too far from Puaena Point beach. Downside to this place it it does not have lockers, I had to hide my key under the sand when people aren’t looking. Overall this place is all right its away from everything and very few people come here. The scenery is beautiful and there are trees near the beach to provide some shading if you want to take a break from being under the sun but still want to stay on the beach.

Loved this beach. Would highly recommend it to anyone. We saw several turtles, and the area just had such a relaxed and peaceful vibe about it. Gorgeous sand, trees… I can’t say enough great things about this beach.

I needed to get away from Waikiki during our vacation, so the boyfriend and I drove out to the north shore for the day with the intention of simply taking an long walk on the beach. We found Puaena Point Beach and it was was amazingly beauty and best of all, almost completely empty. We walked past some families and some surfers but as we rounded a corner and started walking along the beach, it was just us. No tourists, no people and not even many waves to speak of either. It was just beautiful views, sand and nothingness for several more miles. When I later looked at a map, I discovered there was a turtle sanctuary a few miles up the beach that I wish we had seen as well, though we did get to see a turtle or two even in our area. It was amazing to get away from the crowds if only for a day.
