We miss the awesome soups at Casey’s. We wish her nothing but success in the future.

Long line at the bathroom gives you a chance to sample all the good smells coming out if he kitchen. The food was good, though all a bit more bland than I would have wanted. The chicken pozole needed a bit more depth or richness. Thank goodness for the mango salsa on the fish tacos. We were very tempted by the dessert counter but didn’t indulge this time.

This restaurant never disappoints ! Local grown, fresh ingredients made with care! Lobster chowder is delish, crab, avocado and gruyère sandwich was amazing was worth the drive from the east bay. Used a and the owner said she was going to discontinue using that program.

This place is neither great nor bad, one thing this place is, is pricey! Casey’s is a cute little café, but just don’t expect to pay cute little café prices, that’s for sure… We recently came here because we were meeting some relatives from out of town and they wanted to eat on Main St and somewhere other than the HMB Roasting Company which is were we prefer to go, but since we always take them there they wanted to go somewhere new, so we took them to Casey’s. Of course, they looked at the menu and started complaining about the«tourist» prices. My wife and I both looked at each other and said, this is why we go to the Roasting Company, but we decided to stay since they wanted to try something knew… I ordered the Casey’s Burger($ 11.45 — a savory blend of beef, Italian sausage, topped w/caramelized onions and mushrooms.) with Garlic Fries. The burger was huge when it came out, it by far exceeded the bun it was on, it was juicy and a little greasy maybe. After a few times of tackling it with my hands, I decided to go after it with a fork and knife. The burger was decent although had way too many mushrooms on top of it, so I kept pushing them to the side. The garlic fries were tasty, the fries were still crispy and were freshly tossed in garlic. I had fun devouring those. I could not finish the burger it was just too much and after awhile the juice/grease just started to be too heavy. I can’t remember what sandwich my wife had but she had Sweet Potato Fries and they were probably the best Sweet Potato Fries I think I’ve ever had anywhere, I give them kudos for that! Our guests enjoyed their meals as well, even though they kept complaining about the«tourist» price. Even though we do enjoy the HMB Roasting Company, now called the HMB Coffee & Café, Casey’s is alright if your wanting something different. They pride themselves on using fresh local ingredients, hence the prices!

Half beef and half Italian Sausage burger So disappointed in the flavor of the patty. I expected to be wowed especially since pork is so flavorful on its own. Sadly, there was barely any flavor other than hints of dried herbs. To add insult, the burger was dry and crumbly which is ironic since pork should help to keep it moist. Everything was sub-par at best… Overall thoughts Such a shame Casey’s Café failed, oh well… life goes on

I’m going to start off by saying that I don’t approve of the overall rating of this incredible café. My girlfriend and I started coming here about a year ago. Both of us reside in Santa Clara and we come to this spot whenever we are in the area. Whenever I eat at Casey’s, I almost always get the black bean soup. The soup is phenomenal and the sour cream that comes on top of it really makes for a very enjoyable meal! The service here is incredible. All the servers are friendly, attentive, and polite. The owner is super friendly on top of it. The café has a nice and relaxing atmosphere, and it’s a great place to retreat to after a long relaxing day at the bench. If you are in the area, definitely check into Casey’s. Cheers!

While on the slightly overpriced side, Casey’s is worth checking out. Excellent menu options, some of the best coffee I’ve had, and a relaxed atmosphere. The checkers and Trivial Pursuit on the table offer something fun to do while waiting for your food. Casey is very friendly and casual with her customers, which goes a long way in creating an ideal dining experience. We’d like to visit again the next time we’re in town, but would probably consider other options based on the prices alone.

Terrible. Went here because I know they have a catering company and we are going to get married in the area later in the year. There was a group of three of us. I should start by saying we came 30 minutes before closing.(We were planning on getting something quick and we did leave before they closed in the end.) When we arrived the person seating looked at us, gave a distinctive look at the clock, sighed, and seated us. This should have been my clue. My sister ordered the quesadilla, my friend the large patty burger, and i got their gluten free lasanga. First with the only positive note, mine was ok, not great. The rest was dismal and the service, even worse. The burger looked like it was from McDonalds, the patty was super thin even though my friend ordered the burger with more meat. The bun was squished like someone had accidently put a heavy object on it. My friend said it tasted alright, but he was still starving after. The worst part of the lunch was my sisters meal. A plate was put in front of her with three pieces of cheese quesadilla thrown on it.(literally it was on the only thing on the plate and they were haphazardly placed) My sister politely asked where the sides were(it was supposed to come with salsa, grilled chicken, guac, etc). The waiter stated that it didn’t come with anything. My sister asked to see the menu. The waiter, appearing annoyed, grabbed a menu, opens it to read it while walking back, and utters, «Sh**t.» Then he states that he will have the cook fix it. He returns 10 minutes later, with the same quesadilla that has been pulled apart the sides thrown inside and the sides put back together. The quesadilla was cold, the cheese was not even melted onto the sides, and there was no apology. We won’t even get into the fact that the sides were not on the side. I should add that the owner was present and did not seem to care about the problem, crappy food, or horrible service. It would be high priced if the food was decent, but with the food we got, a complete rip off. Eat here at your own risk.

I havent had a bad time here at all. The 2.5 star rating this place is definitely under rated. Ill give it a 5 star review to try and bring up the average because this place deserves it. Besides being a little overpriced I thing everything else is great. The outdoor seating, the drink menu, the nice waiters and waitresses, and the food. I usually order the fish and chips, garlic fries and the clam chowder. The eggs benedict isnt particularly bad either. If youre looking for a relaxing, chill spot then go to Caseys. I would prefer this place over any where else. Theres too much hype over pasta moon so youll be expecting too much, and youll be disappointed. If you look at caseys reviews, then try their food, maybe you’ll be a little more delighted and surprised in why they have a 2.5 star rating. People that give this place a bad rating are bitter and too picky. People are complaining about 1 star food they receive, 1 star should mean you literally threw up(not figuratively). A person also complained about how they received a cold pint glass and gave them a 1 star rating. Just drink it out of the cold bottle then, smh. Service has also gotten better since those 2010 reviews were made.

I am absolutely flummoxed by the peevish reviews of Casey’s. Sad how it takes only a few huffy crabapples to bring down a business’s star rating. Everything at Casey’s is homemade. Everything is fresh and tasty. I’ve never seen such a wide selection of homemade soups in a place that wasn’t a dedicated soup restaurant. There are vegan soups, veggie soups, chickeny soups, meaty soups. Always with bright, interesting flavors, always healthy. Every sandwich I’ve had has been to die for. Sure, you can find cheaper sandwiches at Sam’s Coffee Shop – you get what you pay for. Casey’s uses organic ingredients, homemade bread. Freshly made cole slaw. Fresh sliced turkey. The burgers, good organic burgers, are downright cheap for what you get. I’m always on a damn diet but the pies and desserts in the pastry case look mighty fresh and delicious too. I’ve only gone to Casey’s when passing through but happy to say mom’s moving to HMB. I have no doubt that we’ll become Casey’s regulars.

The menu looked good for what we were lookIng for a late lunch. I ordered a ham and dijon grilled gruyère cheese sandwich and a cup of artichoke soup. The sandwich was very good the soup was flavorless. They brought over a basket of delicious bread crisps to dip in the soup. My bottled beer was served along side a warm pint glass. Why couldn’t it have been chilled. My boyfriend ordered a grilled tomato and cheese sandwich on sourdough. The bread was burnt and soggy. No taste it was a soggy terrible mess. The black bean soup was just ok. Used the restroom when I left and the toilet seat had black hairs and was wet. Disgusting. :( We paid $ 46 with tip. Pricey for a couple sandwiches and 2 small cups of soup.

My husband and I stopped in HMB for a late lunch, something smelled great wafting through the air and we followed it to Casey’s. We had our Boxer with us so we sat outside, they’re very dog friendly and brought our Buster a bowl of water. My husband ordered the Artichoke Lasagna and I a hamburger and asked them to make it into a patty melt for me on rye. The food was delicious! We opted for dessert and quickly decided on the Banana Mousse Rum Cake… to die for! We didn’t simply peck away at it… we devoured it! The service was great! We’ll definitely be back soon!

For a gluten free menu, I was surprised to ask for gluten free papodum(listed on the gluten free portion of the menu) and to have it arrive at my table mixed in with glutenous bread. When I asked if I could have the papodum separate the answer was, «hmmm… I guess I could get them from the bag» then after handling bread and money, hands went into the bag unwashed and into the papdum bag. For an expensive gluten-free menu $ 8-$ 20 for lunch/dinner items, I expected at least a a basic understanding of the gluten free diet and it’s importance for individuals with Celiac Disease. As a follow up, I appreciate that the owner contacted me to explain the situation and to apologize for any confusion that might have happened. If Casey, the owner, is around the next time I am in Half Moon Bay, I will try out this restaurant again.

I felt compelled to write a review because Casey’s doesn’t seem to warrant the 2 star rating. My wife and I came down to HMB to get some fish tacos at the Flying Fish, but to our dismay it is closed for renovations. We found Casey’s just down the road. They had a dog friendly patio which was why we picked it(our dog was with us). Maybe management is responding to some of the negative reviews because the service was really quick(surprisingly quick, ordered and had food in like 4 minutes) In the 4 minute order time span we Unilocaled Casey’s and were a bit worried because of the rating. We considered leaving, but we already ordered. The food was good, solid, but not mind blowing. It’s a good place to grab some lunch and enjoy a nice day. My wife and I had a nice relaxing Sunday and it was partially due to Casey’s. They have a lot of gluten free, organic, sustainable food. Doesn’t really matter to me, but thought it’s worth mentioning. I would really give this place 3.5 stars, but I feel like 4 stars are need to offset some of the poor reviews. Patio area: 5 Service: 4(they forgot ketchup, had to ask twice, otherwise 5) Food: 3.5 Price: 2 beers, 2 sandwiches, fries, 2 ice teas = $ 42 with tip

Dont get the tri tip sandwich! It looked like dog food… cut up in bits and filled with onions and sauce… been here twice and the first time had good breakfast but the waitress was horrible… ordered a big appetizer and she didnt bring it before the food and tried to hide the fact she forgot to put it in.

Totally fooled with the nice outdoor seating and menu. The food was one star for all four orders, with the outstanding food item being the side order of curly fries. Sadly, an outdoor brunch at Casey’s was not a good way to start a lovely Sunday morning on Main Street in Half Moon Bay. Also, although we had four people and four entrees that added up to $ 70, the server brought two measly mints with the tab.

I’m a local. This is one of the ONLY two restaurants at which I actually look forward to eating in Half Moon Bay. The other is Chez Shea, down the street. The food here is very good. The soups are tasty and seem homemade – in the good way. There are some unique items on the menu that are signature to Casey’s Café. I like the curry salad as well as the beef stew. The stew is very flavorful and has a slight kick to it from the beer that they use. The curry salad is a great dish served cold for summer. It’s like a well-made chicken salad(not like the crappy kinds you get at Safeway), only with curry. Also, the tri tip sandwich is yum. The crab melt is not bad, but expensive for what it is. The red velvet cake leaves some wanting. Service is friendly, and homey. Not incredible and the absolute best i’ve had, but definitely close. They offer free samples of soups, and make you feel comfortable. They answer your questions and don’t rush you. The atmosphere is casual and obviously not the Ritz, but I’m not someone who puts a lot of weight on atmosphere, as long as the food delivers. Which this place does. Most restaurants in half moon bay go all out on atmosphere, and then fail to follow through when the food arrives. This is not the case here, and I like it this way better. During nice days, sitting outside is fun. The pricing in my opinion is a bit high, but that’s typical of Half Moon Bay. If they were only slightly cheaper I’d be here quite a bit more often. So, this would be five stars, but minus one for the price. Go here for good food, go elsewhere if you don’t want good food.

Casey’s is pretty good. The owner came out and talked to us after our lunch and boy is she a talkative(and nice) lady. She explained about their carrot soup and how much awesomeness is in it. I ordered the fish and chips which were basic but some of the best I’ve have lately. The best thing we had on the table was by far their veggie burger though. I’ve never had one quite like it. I disagree with most of the posters about the service. Our waitress was overly polite and responsive. They even brought out malt vinegar with my fish and chips; which never seems to be the case around these parts.
