I had my wedding reception here in June of 2000. We counted on cold(rented 5 heat lamps) and fog — but the entire day was sunny — low 70’s! We had 120 people and the size was just right since, not at all crowded. We had a wine/beer bar set up on the deck where most people seemed to gravitate. We had food stations throughout the inside and out that were refreshed and available the entire duration of the reception(my pet peeve is food being put away at weddings — w/only cake as an option towards end of event). We had just a few standard tables set up inside w/most of the tables kiosk(tall) w/barstools. The event had a cocktail party feel(but w/tons of endless food!) that allowed for movement/mingling. We hired«Shabang» a long time local steel drum band that added to the upbeat fun atmosphere. The setting is breathtaking, on the water. Tip — do have someone keep an eye on your gift table or opt to not have it by the front door! I heard there was a stray visitor popping in a couple times eyeing the money cards who was eventually escorted out down the road. LOL. Also, we added elegance to the bathrooms by putting up privacy screens around the doors with male/female signage(otherwise people would just pop in and out right into the middle of venue… awkward!) and scented candles, lavender EO soap & lotion, linens for hands and a linen basket. Otherwise, the bathrooms feel very«high school.» Many of our guests(including myself), stayed here too — I guess it is now called — rooms are very comfortable and all w/views. You can hear the waves from your room, and have a nice fire to warm up. There is a mini kitchen too, so we brought in some food for breakfast — even though they do bring it up to your room as part of the rental. The next morning we were out to SFO for our month train adventure in Europe! 13 years later, I still hear from people saying it was the best wedding they have been to(reception was at Montara Lighthouse)!

I’ve gotten to enjoy two wonderful events here. One being a big family Christmas since 40 plus people couldn’t fit in one house, and my uncle and aunts 15th(?) wedding anniversary. I love the facilities here. For our family Christmas they provided couches and comfy chairs for everyone to lounge on and really feel like home. We had access to the little kitchen area too which was perfect since we brought our own food so we had a sink and fridge close at hand. For the anniversary, I just remember how beautiful all the tables were with white linens and a string of white lights around the room with the soft glow of candles. I believe that party was catered but I don’t remember the food. But the best part is the patio over looking the water. This is where everyone hangs as the view is just beautiful. I’m looking forward to my aunt’s 70th birthday party, which she is having at her favorite place, The Harbor House.

It can be hard to listen to someone blather on about«reinventing the company» when you are watching birds divebomb from 40 feet up straight into the water after smelt or herring or sardines or whatever the hell they are after. To me, this is a plus. This is a very nice spot for a small offsite or conference. One biggish room that can be divided. The catering is pretty good, the room is cozy and there is a large outdoor deck overlooking the north end of Half Moon Bay and the Princeton Marina.
