Disappointed after reading such great reviews about this place. Went in looking for a bottle of patron, and he only had jose cuervo. There was absolutely no selection what so ever and the coolers were completely empty. Either the owner had all his friends write good reviews about this place or something went wrong with. As I have read/heard it has been closed down and I’m not surprised at all. Maybe I shopped here when the store was moving or closing down, but either way. 1 star.

As of Feb. 262012, the windows of Longboard Liquors and papered over, the doors are locked, and a «Gone Surfing» sign is taped to the glass. Looks like the store is kaput.

This local liquor shop has a great selection of wines, beers and liquor. I can always come in here and find something interesting. If I need cold champagne, it’s there. Some Saki for sushi night, it’s there. Several different beers for several different people, got it! Super friendly service too. :D

I’ve been coming here since they opened. Living on the coast for close to 8 years, this place is a welcome change from what used to be a below average liquor store that occupied the same space. Tom and Robert(the owners) are extremely friendly, knowledgable, and always down to chat it up about beer, wine, whatever. If they don’t have something you’re looking for, they will gladly order it for you. Being a Belgian Ale connoisseur, they’re selection is more than impressive along with their microbrews… Oh, did I mention they also have monthly beer and wine tastings in the back tasting room? YEAH, AWESOME! I’m only sorry it’s taken me thing long to review the store.

I love Longboard! When you first walk in, it seems like the store is a little sparse — there’s more shelf space than there is merchandise. But it’s all organized well and there actually IS quite a bit to choose from. Prices are pretty good for an independent booze retailer(for example, Trojak-Knier Sangiovese is $ 30.99 a bottle here — $ 0.99 more than it costs directly from the winery). They also have some random antiques for sale too, like old bar mirrors, steins, and other beer and liquor-related memorabilia. And the best part is that they have regular beer and wine tasting events in the back room, which are a lot of fun. Just this past weekend, we attended the Sierra Nevada beer tasting. How many liquor stores do that?

Longboard Liquors has super friendly staffers and a great beer selection — especially if you’re into craft beers. Due to my rather wimpy beer tastes, there’s not quite so much for me, but that’s okay. I noticed a sign in their window stating that they were applying for a permit to do tastings in their store. I hope they’ll start up a mailing list, because I’d like to come in for one(or more!).

Great selection of beer. Anything you could possibly want. A little bit pricey, but aren’t all liquor stores? I’d rather pay a little bit more here than go to evil Safeway. Plus the guys who work here are very chatty & nice.

A total surpise. This place was great. They have many options in beer, wine, and liquor. Not your typical liquor store.

(To the tune of «California Girls» by the Beach Boys*) Well East Coast beers are top Brothers Tröeg, please, never stop! And Southern beers with the way they look Shiner Bock is off the hook. Schlafly’s mid-West Pumpkin will make you feel alright And the Northern beers with the way they malt: Otter Creek keeps you warm at night. I wish they all could be Californian I wish they all could be Californian I wish they all could be Californian beers. The West Coast has the sunshine And the hops all grow so grand. Lagunitas Pils is so damn fine Fish tacos and driftwood in the sand. I’ve been all around this great big world And I drank all kinds of beer; Yeah, but I couldn’t wait to get back to the Golden State Back to the coolest brews around. I wish they all could be Californian I wish they all could be Californian I wish they all could be Californian beers … Longboard Liquors is a store that rocks. For great local(i.e. Californian) beer, wine, bourbon, scotch, and other fine spirits. And if they don’t carry it: just ask! They’ll order it for you. Nothing finer on the Central Coast between San Francisco and Santa Cruz, period. (*) For Lydia L., an intimate lover of fine foods, wines, & brews.

I can’t remember exactly what brought us in here(it is next door to Peet’s), but it was probably my desire for a lottery ticket and some peanut M&M’s. The guys that work here(or own the place) are funny as hell and super laid back. There was a bit of banter exchanged and then I spied a mini bottle of Patron Silver that I had to have«just in case». Since I don’t frequent liquor stores, this one really stood out as a great one and I would be a regular if I lived in the area.

Huge changes here — right next to New Leaf and Peets Coffee. i went in on a recommendation because someone let me know the new owners had really changed the store and had some great selections and prices — THEYWERERIGHT! Great beer selections, not to mention some interesting wine choices and plenty of the other stuff. I was happy to see the prices were competitive as well. The Friendly service will have me coming back time and time again.

Ernie’s Liquors was sold, and the guys who picked it up have undergone a MASSIVE transformation with the old place. No longer a run of the mill hole in the wall liquor shop, Longboard is looking to improve what it carries to better serve the area. Figuring that some people don’t like the swill that goes for beer in the US, they’ve REALLY improved the selection, and as importantly, are asking customers what’s missing. And THAT’S how I finally got Grolsch back on this side of the hill.(woohoo!) I casually mentioned I was looking for a 30 year old rum, and the owner wanted to know all the details so that he could bring it in. THAT’S good service. A good transformation. Longboard is a welcome edition to HMB!
