Very good food, sort of a «throwback» vibe, with incredible waterfront location. Service was great, the hostess was awesome(gave us the best table in the restaurant, thank you!) we reserved through Open Table, which was very convenient.

I loved their desserts more than I loved their food. Food was alright but their desserts were tastes from heaven! Service was attentive but I feel like they need to clean their chairs because it’s too sticky and leaves stains on your pants.

In short: An overpriced Applebee’s with a view. Though I fully believe an older environment can be maintained tastefully, this venue is just old. Outside of the fact it feels as if you’ve just entered the last pickup bar before heading into a retirement home, the food seems like top quality hospital food. They seduce you with promising verbiage such as, ‘organic salmon’ but in reality, such a thing doesn’t actually exist.(There is wild salmon, Scottish Salmon, King Salmon but sorry folks, the strict USDA standards for Organic does not apply to fish.) Outside of their fishy marketing, which to an extent I did fall for, their food is bland & tastes old(decent alignment with the ambiance I suppose), and lastly, the cardinal sin: it is overpriced. We left paying $ 80 for a $ 25 experience. Unlike being caught in the stronghold that Tahoe has readily available to it(not many good restaurants but a decent location), Half Moon Bay actually does have some decent restaurants(w/and w/o a view). If you’re looking for your monies worth, I’ve thus far enjoyed: — Cetrella(intimate) — Sam’s(if you’re looking for casual dining) — Pasta Moon(which despite it’s ghastly name, has many well-executed gluten free options.)

Great view. Friendly staff. We went in for a light meal. Most of us ordered appetizers. My crab cocktail was huge, and very fresh. My daughter had the bay shrimp, and husband had the crab cakes. Look forward to trying some main entrées on our next trip!

I was definitely in my happy place sitting on the patio for lunch! The air was cool, the sun was warm, the seats around the fire pit were comfortable, and the music was nice. I could have easily spent an afternoon just sitting there. As far as the food goes, the clam chowder was thick and delicious! We shared the calamari picante and the fish not chips. The calamari was nothing special, more of just a vehicle for the picante sauce, which was very good. The fish n chips were perfect, light flaky fish in a good batter. I wish I had ordered the seafood pallea. Two other tables ordered it and it looked amazing. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on lunch, but I got what I paid for. Next time I’d splurge a bit more.

The view is amazing, the food is on the lower side of average. Service inside is good, but it seems like every time we sit outside, we just get the worst service. Show up for Sunday brunch at 12PM sharp and they’re already out of sausage. I always leave here feeling like I got ripped off.

Overpriced and food isn’t very good. I was here 3 years ago and did not like the place but thought I would come back and try again but same old same old. Ordered fresh oysters… blah. Got the special which was Halibut that day. It was dry and tasteless. I should remember not to bother with this place. There are other better places in Half Moon Bay and this is not one of it. I would suggest looking else where.

Great food by the bay. We watched whales spout by and shared Sunday brunch. I had the crab Louie salad. Very good service and tasty food

Let’s start by the only things I liked about this place: — location is great — staff is very nice and helpful End of it! Food was a total disappointment! Vegetable tempurawas NOT tempura, at all. Greasy and not tasty. Paella was NOT paella. It was more like boiled soupy rice with some sparse seafood. The spinach salad had rotten eggs and I had to send it back, plus it was tasteless(never had a worse salad). Price was unbelievebly high for the quality of food.

Got lost this afternoon leaving San Jose, CA and happily landed in Half Moon Bay, CA. Googled ‘every day Happy Hour’ and The Miramar appeared. When I arrived the host updated me that The Miramar ‘no longer has Happy Hour’. With their complimentary valet parking I decided to stay. I’m a crab cake fanatic and figured an ocean front restaurant would have unforgettable authentic seafood. I was SO right. Their crab cakes were seemingly stuffed with a genuine fresh crab meat mixture served with a tangy caper white sauce garnished with a mini romaine salad teaser topped with an eye quenching aged vinaigrette. The indoor dining area offers a variety of ocean view seating and live soothing piano music. The patrons applaud after each selection. Because the pianist played ‘Happy Birthday’ for a guest– I’m assuming he takes requests. The outdoor seating offers just as many ocean views along with shared fire pits. If you’re game for a competing physical work out– basketball is an option in the parking lot. Their quaint romantic pockets allow for a private dining experience. Don’t know how– but The Miramar successfully achieved their family friendly status just as much as their charming romantic notoriety. The Miramar in Half Moon Bay is the best place to get ‘lost’ in.

Came here Saturday with some friends that live nearby and have been here several times and now I can see why. Pro’s: –The layout was nice, it has the feeling of a classy joint, yet keep it casual since your close to the beach. –The view is awesome, the beach is super close, as in a few hundred feet away. –Great outdoor seating with heat lamps. –Food was excellent. My blackened Scottish salmon was DELICIOUS, and the seafood margarita was very creative/good. –Prices were reasonable. Con’s: –The bathroom was nasty! It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a LONGTIME. There was pee all around the bathroom stalls. Gross, right! –The hostess are horrible. To give context, my friends made a reservation well in advance and we got there on time, there were several window seats for a table of 4 and 6 people, so my friends asked if we could have a window seat, and the hostess, quickly said no each window table are resevered. My friend asked a few more times and the hostess snapped back with attitude, NOYOUCANHAVEIT. We settled for another table, then 10 minutes later they give each table to a party of two, especially when we had four people in our party. Again, the managers at this restaurant need to fire the hostess, she was rude and very bias. You have multiple large tables and say there being held and end up giving it to a smaller party 10 minutes later. UNPROFESSIONAL! Neutral –The waiter was just ok, he came off like a robot, a little below average in terms of service. Overall, this place is great just based on the food and views, just set the right expectation when it comes to the hostess and waiter.

My party had reservations for 4 people. We were on time, when we went to the front there was no hostess to be found so we asked a waitress to help us because there was a crowd up front. Finally the hostess, Solani(forgive me if it’s misspelled) showed up and got the others settled then came to us. We asked for a table by the window because there was one for 4, and she tells us that’s saved for a party of 6. So we sat further in, the table reserved for 6 ended up empty most of the night, and was finally taken by a couple of 2! My boyfriend and I were not pleased. Solani was not professionally dressed, I couldn’t tell she was a hostess until she grabbed menus. Not a great way to start. And our waiter was very robotic. Nice, but definitely just going thru the motions. No real personality. Took forever to get our check at the end. Hard time getting ahold of him once he got busier. Had the seafood Margarita to start with and it was pretty good with the tortilla chips. Then I ordered the scampi prawns and it was ok. Plain rice, didn’t touch much of that. Liked the asparagus but can’t really go wrong with that. And the prawns were nothing to write home about. My boyfriend on the other had loved his blackened salmon, with rice pilaf and asparagus. Wish I’d ordered that. Had the chocolate mousse to end the night and again nothing spectacular. Overall nice setting, cool history. Maybe I’d go back to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink. As long as Solani doesn’t seat us.

I made a reservation for window seat 6:30. We arrived a little before 6pm. The host told us that we could not be seated until our reservation, we understood and took a seat at the bar. we waiting for 45 minutes, once it turned to 7:15 I had to say something. The manager then smiled and said, your table is ready– she took us to a table that was in the Bar area in the path of travel. We were here to celebrate my husbands birthday, had a baby — sitter for a couple of hours– this was outrageous! I couldn’t believe it. they told us we would have to wait longer for a better seat– very well … we did. over an hour after out reservation we were seated. Never never never will we go back !

Had a great dining experience at Miramar during our stay in HMB. Dining in HMB at nice restaurants isn’t cheap. However, we ordered the Thursday Prime Rib special for $ 19.95 and glad we did. See our pictures, starting with a Caesar salad, very light dressing topped with an anchovy slice. Our Prime Rib was not quite the medium rare that we ordered, but it was tender and topped with a Cabernet Au Jus that was full of flavor. The included dessert was strawberry cheesecake Gelato. We also ordered a bottle of their Miramar Cabernet which was 25% off. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We got there early to get a window seat and enjoyed the view along with our dinner. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

This is a really cute restaurant right by the beach. The view is so beautiful if you’re lucky enough to sit outside. Unfortunately, the people next to us were extremely loud and complained about everything. I sort of wished there was a bit more space between tables, but that’s okay! The food was pretty good as well. There’s several options from fish, pasta, steak, etc. If you are looking for a cute date night or spontaneous trip to Half Moon Bay sort of lunch/dinner, stop by here. The service wasn’t amazing, but it was busy so that’s understandable. Overall pretty cute place with good food.

We had Valentines Day dinner reservations. We arrived about 20 minutes late due to traffic in HMB but they held our table which was pretty cool since they were packed. Service was very quick. We has chicken piccata and scampi with rice; both dishes were served hot and tasty. Service was great; ambiance was great; food was great! Would return every time I’m in town.

Adequate food, mediocre service is being nice. My companion had shrimp scampi w/a bit over cooked green beans and plain white rice. The lemon in his sauce overpowered it and the meal was meh. I had simple fish and chips. The cod was good but sadly the fish and fries were not drained and left a pool of grease. I would have pointed it out to my server but she never came back. We saw her to take our order and put our food down. I would have wanted a beverage, he a refill and maybe an after meal coffee/drink. We finally asked at the hostess station for a check so we could leave.

We were here in November, 2015 to celebrate our anniversary, and my retirement. We were staying at the Cypress Inn, so the missus, insisted we must go for a walk, and try this place. Wind was blowing a good 30 miles per hour, so I tried to hide under the bed, but away we went. Sand stung my face, and I probably tried to use my lighter, 35 to 40 times, before I got the damn thing to work. Mamma, was chatting up all the locals, and by the time we arrived here, I was surly, cross, and feeling very«untoward.» After all, we’d come to Half Moon Bay, to celebrate my retirement, so why this? Oh, did I mention it was uphill, and there was snow, too? Okay, maybe no snow, and maybe not 2 miles. She got us a waitress, and we were promptly seated outside by a nice warm fire with no sand, wind or snow. On a nice couch, but there were two other couples seated with us, not what I was expecting, I’m social enough, but she did ask me if I was okay with this arrangement. Why rock the boat, waitress brought some strong drink, and we all started chatting it up. All of us received our orders at the same time(very quickly) and had a super time. Appetizers for us, shucked oysters, cheesy garlic bread, cup of soup, Thai chicken skewers, Turned out, all of us lived in the same area, were around the same age, so it was a wonderful afternoon. Hated to see it end. DINNER — we went back, thank God, the walk was a lot more comfortable. We’re seated promptly, with a beautiful nighttime view of the beach, ocean I had the Steak Au Poivre, her Majesty ordered the Filet Mignon. There was warm bread, and butter, and the servers, kept the wine and beer, coming. We did not feel rushed, and by the time the missus had her dessert and I had my after dinner brandy, more than a couple hours had passed. We both felt warm and comfy, and it took a bit of coaxing for us, to get each other up, and out the door. Where, we both plopped down on a bench. The sky was amazingly clear, and filled with stars. ON Patio next day — well, I think you can see by the photos, we didn’t suffer :) Our visit was during the week, so it could be totally different on Fri-Sat, will let you know as, we will definitely be back.

This restaurant is dog friendly… and that’s probably the biggest reason why we came here. The patio seating area where dogs are allowed has a wonderful view of the beach. On the day we were there, the weather was perfect! There was not that much sun, but it wasn’t chilly either. Even though it was almost 1pm, I was feeling breakfast-y so I decided to get their seafood omelette. We also ordered half a dozen oysters on the half shell. The oysters came out first. Flavor-wise, they were pretty good, but omg there was so much sand in them it became really inconvenient to eat. I was always scared to bite down out of fear I might crack a tooth or something. The omelette came out about 10 min. after we were finished with the oysters. It came with potatoes, fruits, and an english biscuit. I thought the omelette was kind of bland to be honest, and the seafood flavor didn’t really come through. The potatoes were really mushy, and the fruit and biscuit were nothing special. For a dish costing $ 18, I expected a lot more. Service here is pretty good and we were constantly checked on throughout the meal. Unfortunately, given my experience with the food, I don’t think I’ll be back.

After a big lunch and a long stroll on the beach we decided to end our evening here with some drinks and just appetizers as we were still full from earlier… We sat out side as the weather was just amazing it was warm and no breeze in sight… I had a martini and he had the Manhattan, apparently it’s a man’s drink lols… it is very strong! We ordered the crab cakes and seafood chowder… both were really yuumy filled with lots of flavors. We ended up moving towards the fire pit where we made new friends with the locals of HMB! Spent the evening drinking sharing stories oh and we had dessert Tira misu for me bread pudding for him and chocolate mousse(wrong order but we still got to eat it) and enjoying every moment of the beautiful ocean view. couldn’t ask for a better evening then that. Can’t get enough of you HMB! I miss you already
