I guess they have been in business just a bit too long because they have forgotten how to be nice. I bought a container of heavy duty oven cleaner and some burner pans and was assured that the stain I was was concerned with would come out«for sure». Sorry but it not only didn’t come out«for sure» but failed to function after two wee sprays. I stopped back to replace the non functioning spray and they rudely said, «We don’t except exchanges». I told them I didn’t care to have their drip pans and go my $ 40 back… lucky me BB&B had the same drip pans for $ 25. What a pity as Barnetts has been an old fashioned sort of everything shop I fancy. Never again!

You might think to yourself, «I don’t feel like driving to Home Depot, I’ll just stop by Barnett’s and pick up what I need.» Stop. Don’t do it. YOUWILLBESORRY. Barnett’s is an ancient, filthy store with random hardware items for sale at prices worse than Home Depot. If you should still choose not to heed my warning, then be sure you know exactly what you need and exactly where it is located in the store because they are allergic to customer service. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure they just hate customers. They will stand in the front of the store literally ignoring you as you yell, «Could someone please help me?» And if they do acknowledge you it will be the disdain Nancy Grace has for criminals(alleged) and no help will ever be forthcoming. I warned you.

I join the consensus that customer service here stinks! I actually like some of the old timey merchandise. But you either can’t get anyone to help you at all, or they are sullen and unhelpful while they’re talking to you. They’ve also got a ridiculous no return policy.

Bottom Line: They’ve got what you need for whatever small house job you’ve got. Coming here is a lot like going through your grandparents‘ garage looking for something to fix that leaky faucet except probably a lot more organized. You were in the neighborhood and you really needed a specific item. You didn’t go out of your way to come here. You didn’t stop by for pomp and show. You weren’t planning on looking around for a great DIY idea for your new home office. In short this isn’t an event. In this vain however, the place is not what others have said«a dump» either. Nothing is falling apart. Everything is neat and organized and departmentalized. You aren’t going to step in something gross or encounter any vermin during your stop. The window displays are probably from 1950 along with the dust on some packaged items for specialty electric work, but if you’re an electrican you most likely didn’t come here any way. Not being one of the major home improvement stores in constant competition for your business has the benefit of a quick check out though. Additionally, the staff here is quite knowledgeable about their products and small home projects and you don’t have to wait for five people to finally ask your question or a contractor to finish with some immense order before someone notices you. My dad loves to support small businesses, and I’ve come here a handful of times with him. The employees have always been helpful and friendly.

This dump is equal parts store, museum, and time machine. I enjoy visiting for a single reason: it is like you stepped back in time here. Completely atypical for the area. They are completely overpriced and their inventory is just crazy town. Some of the items they sell here aren’t even worth the time it takes to stock them or the space they maintain on the shelves. The layout of the physical plant inside is like a maze. Like they added another room only after the previous room was built and opened for business. They also have some out of place counters and signage and old cashier stations that looks like someone just abandoned them there. Very eerie inside. Lots of terrazzo. Definitely a good place to go if you need some new Instagram photo content. Or if you need an overpriced yard sign. The building must have been paid for 300 times over, otherwise I imagine economic factors would’ve plowed it under. I did notice that one end of the expansive property which fronts Hallandale Beach Boulevard is becoming some sort of medical operation, no doubt associated with Obamacare. So, maybe, better days ahead for Barnett’s. Check it out before it is modernized and gentrified. Maybe I should do a video documentary about the joint, problem is who will pay? Check me out on YouTube: Cabeza OUT!

I walked into Barnett’s for the first time ever last week. My boyfriend had promised me that there would be new, boxed items from the 1980’s and a wide selection of odds and ends from the great beyond. He didn’t let me down! Barnett’s really does have«NEW» things from the 1980s and 1990s. So if Grandma has been looking for a replacement knob for the pot that your Mom gave her for her 48th birthday in 1986, chances are Barnett’s will have it. I had no problem at all with the staff, in fact I had 4 different staff members say hello and ask if I needed help. Although the store had some cool art deco items that I liked, I left empty handed because the prices were too rich for my blood. Check this store out at least once in your life… It’s too weird to miss and you might actually find something worthwhile.

I wish I could give this place no stars. These people have never heard of the term customer service. The merchandise is laughable and the prices are ridiculous. Drive by and don’t even think about stopping.

I have yet to meet anyone in Hallandale or who has passed through Hallandale who hasn’t expressed how remarkably rude the owner and some of the employees are of Barnett’s. No one goes there anymore. It always seems to be empty because they’ve alienated all of their customers. It’s the mystery of Hallandale Beach– how does Barnett’s stay open when no one will go there? The trip to Home Depot is worth it just to avoid this awful place.
