Let me be the first to wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Robert Denes and his staff at the Chiropractic Health Center of Hamden. I took a fall directly on to my coccyx on a cement floor at work in March that resulted in months of PT, visits to an orthopedic specialist and while things were improving, I was still suffering. As this injury was covered under workman’s comp., I was at the mercy of their medical recommendations. I’m a teacher and stayed on a partial work schedule for the balance of the school year. On June 23rd, I was cleared to return to a normal work day in September with follow up as necessary. About 10 days later, I started to get an abnormally painful feeling that started in my buttock and traveled down the back of my leg. I was sure it was sciatica, which I had never suffered from before the fall. I called the workman’s comp. insurance adjustor and she authorized a one time return to the orthopedic specialist. I saw him the next evening. He said he could treat me with steroids. I tend to believe that it makes more sense to treat the actual cause of the pain rather than masking it with medication. I went online and researched local chiropractors, acupuncturists and craniosacral practitioners. I had actually worked with another local chiropractor a few years back for another situation. He was a lovely man but I never felt relief so I stopped seeing him. After spending time looking at various web sites, I decided to give Dr. Denes’ practice a call. He has a background in sports medicine and physical therapy and appeared to specialize in what was ailing me. The practice is on Whitney Avenue in a converted house. The staff was attentive, warm and professional. Dr. Denes is a nice guy with an easygoing personality. He listened to my situation and had me lie on my stomach for an adjustment. I IMMEDIATELY felt relief. Dr. Denes proceeded to explain to me that my tailbone had been displaced since the fall and he set it back into its proper position. He then told me that it was being out of alignment that had created pressure on my sciatic nerve, causing the inflammation and intense pain I was feeling. I’ll spare you the rest of the details other than to say I have seen Dr. Denes every day since last Tuesday. The inflammation from the sciatic nerve has gone down tremendously and my back pain has all but disappeared. I’m walking straighter and stronger and feel better than I have in months. I’ve seen other chiropractors over the course of my life but NONE have come close to the results that I am having with Dr. Denes. The man is truly a gifted healer. With over 30 years of experience, he knows his stuff and I’m so grateful to have found him. I highly recommend him if you are experiencing any type neck/back issues. I’m looking forward to my appointment tomorrow! Thank you Dr. Denes and your staff for helping me to feel so much better in such a short time!
